Rail Co Posted August 8, 2014 Hey guys I am wondering if anyone knows why there is a center hole/slot in all train motors. 2014-08-07_09-26-42 by Railco1, on Flickr I know they were i believe originally for the 12v motor but is there any use for the middle slot now? Lazarus Posted August 8, 2014 you can put a tecnic pin in them and use it as a dummy wheel for shunters. It might just be there for some tooling they use to make the motors. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

jtlan Posted August 8, 2014 It helps support the motor frame piece, which has a corresponding bump that fits in the hole. You can jam a stud (or the head of a half-pin) in that hole, but it's not a very strong connection. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
