[MOC][WIP][LDD] Imperial Speeder Transport

Recommended Posts

The Imperial Speeder Transport (not sure if it really has a name but this sounded good) from the Heir to the Empire comic book has always been one of my favorite speeder designs. Here is my take on it. Next step is to work on the underside and then flesh out the interior and controls. The front wind vanes are the one part I am not happy with so far. looking into other designs.

I think I'd look better if there was a bit of an interior, even if it was just a couple seats and a control of some sort. I'd also try to block off the thing (I don't know what it's called  ) that holds up the side panel.

Other than that, seems pretty good so far.

Looks good so far!

The Imperial Speeder Transport (not sure if it really has a name but this sounded good)

Amazingly, it looks like this is a rare part of Star Wars that doesn't have a name. Wookieepedia doesn't list any vehicles as appearing in Heir that resemble it. According to the novel, Luke and Mara didn't make that trip in a vehicle; they walked, escorted by scouts on good ol' 74-Z's, one of which towed Artoo.

Given that no other speeders are shown in the following battle scene in the comic, I'd guess that this is a non-canon depiction of the Chariot. On the other hand, one of the panels shows two of these, and only one Chariot was deployed at this scene in the book. The only other candidate might be the Swift Assault 5, which Wookieepedia says was used in the assault of Karrde's base on Myrkr, but they also look much different and are not mentioned in the Hyllyard City scenes in the book.

Wow, awesome analysis!

Ok, some updates on the interior and underside.
