One of my favorite chapters in the DVD/download E-Book is the chapter on Prototype.... Chapter 18 - LEGO Sets/Parts Not Put Into Production. This chapter is being discussed in General Discussions right now under the LEGO Sets/Parts Never Released into Production heading.

http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=73775

And pair of those parts are still a mystery to me (and others).... those are what I call the DUPLO Pine and Cypress tree.... much larger than the regular sizes, and made so that they can only fit onto DUPLO parts (or also onto a ring of 4 regular macaroni bricks).

The origins of these trees remains a mystery. If these were made for regular store displays (as some have suggested), then I would have thought that many more are known. And I would love to find a display image using them, but have not yet come across one.

I'm only aware of these 2 large trees. So perhaps they may have been Duplo prototypes that were not put into general production, but maybe got out of the factory. One factor that is known is that they have sharp branches... a feature that would ordinarily date them to the 1970s and 1980s.

Although the jury is still out on these 2 very rare large trees, for right now they are in my Prototype chapter.

Sigh... I'm always grousing about what a poor selection of windows the worlds leading building toy system has...

I was just updating the Modulex Chapter of my LEGO DVD/download... and my friend Michel from the Netherlands sends me this wonderful picture... Modulex windows in sizes with 4, 5, 6, 7 or 8 studs!!!

How much easier building wonderful LEGO structures if we had this type of selection... :sceptic:

Just got the nicest complement ever from a European who purchased my Unofficial LEGO Sets/Parts Collectors Guide computer desktop download. He also downloaded it to his SmartPhone....

.....he went to a flea market in a nearby town, and came across 2 of the 310 Esso Service stations... in fact two identical to these (1958-60, 1957-58), both in used condition like these, but the 2nd (older one) in better condition that the one shown here....

http://www.ebay.de/i...=p2047675.l2557

http://www.ebay.de/i...=p2047675.l2557

In his Email to me.... he said it was a lot like finding a pair of good used condition boxed 10179 Millennium Falcon's but at only approximately 100 Euros each... with other people not knowing how much they were worth!!

Some of the older LEGO sets have really gone thru the proverbial roof in value.... these 310/1310 Esso Service Stations of 1956-65 are running as high as $3000-$5000 each now.... :look:

My Unofficial LEGO Sets/Parts Collectors Guilde.... still on sale, and you can download it to you PC/MAC as well as SmartPhone.... for when you go LEGO treasure hunting......

Well I've not posted about my Unofficial LEGO Sets/Parts Collectors Guide (1949-1990s) in over a year. And there a reason for that. I'm working on a bigger project.... but it still includes my Guide. I'm working on bringing it forward to 2016... and am about at 2002 so far. And of course current owners of my computer desktop guide (over 80 chapters so far)... will be getting future updates for free, since I keep your Email on file (no Spamming).

My guide is being expanded and developed into a multi book format. However the first country to have it... will get it translated into their Asian language in book form. And once that comes out, I will no longer be able to offer the online English 2800 page version for sale to new owners... although free updates will still be available for current owners.

I'm just giving folks who may have procrastinated in buying it a fair warning... that this will be a closed edition (except for current owners).... so if you are still interested in a $29.95 (US) guide... it will be a lot cheaper than when it finally gets out in English in a few years after Asia is done with me.

So my online guide right now covers 1949-95... with 1949-2016 as the goal by next year (free to current owners).

Here's hundreds of old LEGO items you've never seen....

https://www.flickr.com/photos/istokg/

https://www.flickr.com/photos/82930629@N08/

And there will likely be hundreds of new items that are obscure or prototypes that you may never have seen as well... when the final (free to owners) edition comes out.

For only $29.95 US..... this will include over 5000 pages of LEGO items that include things not in the LEGO Archives/Collections!!

No shipping required, and no customs!! You get it within an hour or so (depending on when I sleep!).

I will likely have no early warning when ordered to stop offering the online guides for sale by the publisher... :sceptic:

Ordering link below....
