Hello everyone,

It has been a very long time since I last written a Town or City review and I am extremely glad to bring this small review to share with our lovely community. I was itching for an impulse built and this set came along just fine when I happened to acquire it for less than 20% off the SRP in Singapore. So, does this set worth my time and attention? Let's read on to find out.

Name: 60041 Crook Pursuit

Pieces: 38

Minifigs: 2 minifigures

New LEGO City 2014 - smallest police set

13836173094_f7e6b59513_b_d.jpg

This is the smallest box set among the new City Police 2014 sets. The whole concept is pretty simple and the objective will be for the policeman to catch the crook while the crook is to attempt his escape and get himself away from the policeman. This set could also serve as an useful sampler for the new in the not-so-new Police Theme.

The content of the sealed box

The sealed box comes with one mint sealed package, a sticker sheet for the motorbike and an instruction manual to guide the user to build up the set. After the building is completed, these are the remaining spare parts. I am quite surprised to see a spare motorbike tyre wheel among the spare parts. It is something new to me.

Laid out the building parts

Useful parts

Apart from acquiring the motorbike, the above useful parts are one of the main reasons why I choose this set. Despite of the low parts count, I am extremely pleased to see quite a number of useful parts especially the inclusion of the four pieces of 1x2 medium dark flesh brick with masonry details on it. The two printed 100 dollars tiles are also great, and the handcuffs, crowbar and backpack are some very welcoming accessories for the city settings.

Front view of the Good vs Bad minifigures

There is nothing significance with the minifigures except that they look right in a typical policeman uniform and a crook in his jail outfit with torn sleeves. You may want to note that the new Police Motorcycle officer actually appear in three new sets, while the crook is an exclusive minifigure that only come in this set with a backpack. It is also nice to know that both of these minifigures come with highly details printed back-prints.

Where do you think you are running to?

The Policeman and his motorbike

13835838973_c4802dd957_b_d.jpg

Personally, this set is pretty decent. I love how I am able to acquire a stand-alone police motorcycle as a stand-alone set for anyone who will like to build up a decent traffic police patrols in their Police Force. The last time that we had saw something similar, was the 7235 Police Motorcycle which was first released in 2005. It is welcoming for city folks to be able to acquire this similar design again.

Building up the fence

You are not running away!

To conclude, this is a simple and direct set where you are able to get your own police motorbike, two minifigures and a bunch of useful city parts and accessories to use later on. All in all, I am very pleased with this set and it is certainly great to see the police motorbike to be able to acquire on its own once more, especially for those who have missed the earlier 2005 release.

Summary review

Playability: 9/10 (Fun to play with in a simple cop vs robber scenario.)

Design: 9/10 (Great useful parts with a welcoming motorbike to add in.)

Price: 9/10 (The price is definitely reasonable when you are able to get a slight discount on it.)

Overall: 9/10 (Reasonable pricing and fun playing experience.)

I gave it a "5" based on my Review Score Card. What about yours?

I hope every one of you enjoyed reading this simple review of mine. Comments and Criticisms are strongly welcomed.

The crook in this set actually comes from forest police, but in a variant. The dog unit, helicopter transporter and the police station have variants of him too!

You are right. I mistook the BL link as it define the crook to be exclusive together with the backpack. I have updated this information in the review content. Thanks.

Honestly? I'm glad I already have some police motorbikes, because this one is, well, a bit simple in execution. The previous version (7235) is much more realistic, mostly because of the cases on the back.

But they had to sacrifice something to be able to add the crook and the fence. Still: nice to see Lego offering a stand alone Police motorbike again, when I had none I had to buy the starter set from last year to get one...

While in this case the stickers mean you are given the option to leave them off and thus have two 2x1 tiles, I rather prefer the printed ones.

I don't quite agree with the usefulness of your "useful parts" selection, because I have tons of handcuffs and 100-notes and have no use for them at all (really, I'd give them away for free, cause they're just taking up space at the moment).

The spare tyre is a surprise for me too.

Thanks for the review, WhiteFang. Looks like a nice little set, but I'll probably pass since I just picked up the new Police Station, which already includes a motorcycle. I do like the little wall, though- scenery is always welcome!

I agree with you that the 7235 motorbike design is better.

And, you highlighted why they have decided to make a different backing for the motorbike due to the inclusion of the crook and the fence, with a slightly higher price point as well.

Actually, I don't have a lot of 100 printed notes. In fact, this is just a few of them in my accessories bins, unfortunately.

I am not intending to acquire the new Police Station since I have the older stations, so this fit well for me.
