Possibly a stupid question (about LDD)

Recommended Posts

Hi All

As the title says, possibly a stupid question, but......

Is there a way to restrict LDD to only show the bricks that one might have, just by entering the Set Code from the sets you own. I'm new to LDD so please forgive me if this has been asked before.

Thanks in advance.

I helped you to clearify the title. There are lots of different tools discussed here, so it's good to make it clear in the title.

The main problem is that LDD have not all the parts that compose these sets. So the list will be incomplete.

In many recreations available in the LDD Official Sets topic linked above, usually builders replace missing parts with similar parts or brick build solutions. This make the list even more imprecise.

Probably the best thing you can do is to remove custom parts from these sets and renounce to these bricks that are not available in LDD (the custom palettes don't manage brick build solutions).

What I usually do is get the inventory from Rebrickable or some other place, and just pack all of the elements from your set(s) into a master "my parts" LDD file, which in my case now has about 10,000 parts. This way, you can assure the accuracy of your parts, note specifically which are not in LDD, and also gain familiarity with working with the software.

Thanks for all the helpful replies. Whilst being a builder for over 30 years, I've never worked digitally before. I'm trying to design models from just a handful of creator sets, and didn't fancy building half way to find i don't have the parts.

I'll be doing just as you suggest with the my parts ldd file
