"Brick Testament" on WGN News

Recommended Posts

I was just watching the WGN News here in Chicago, and they did a short (like less than 10 seconds) bit on Brendan Powell's Brick Testament! They showed a couple of pictures of the Bible scenes that he's built.

The best part was when the newscaster said something like, "Powell started the project as a fun way to tell Bible stories." Uh ... I don't want to speak for the good Reverend, but I'm pretty sure that was NOT his intended purpose. My take on the Brick Testament is that it's a lot more satirical and subversive than simply "a fun way to tell Bible stories."

Anyway, even if the newscaster was an idiot, it was still really cool to see. So congrats, Rev!!

Haha, that news reporter is a tosser! The great thing about the Brick Testimate is that it is more interesting to read the Bible in visual form with pictures of minifigs. There has been a lot of effort put into that project, that much is clear, so some jerk of a news reporter sharing their horribly incorrect opinions is pointless.

Sadly, I don't think that was Brendan's intention, either. In the end, being on the news is still being on the news, no matter how that news is presented.

Even if with the fundamental misunderstanding of the work, it's great to see The Brick Testament getting even more mainstream attention!

even if the newscaster was an idiot

If you're looking for a good local news source in Chicago, try WBEZ, especially their 848 Program.
