MisterMattias Comic

Recommended Posts

Okay, I've uploaded another episode of my Star Wars comics. I was going to make only one episode, but since I know that some of you still have dial-up connections, I figured that 40 images would be a bit too much for you. So I've made two episodes out of it instead, and as soon as I've put text on the second one, I'll post it here :)

As you might remember, Jesus, the Rebel leader, has found his brother Eduardo, an Imperial leader. Together with Han Solo, they're fleeing in an imperial shuttle (not a flying one ) inside the Imperial bunker.

The Big Mistake starts here: http://www.pbase.com/mistermattias/image/33855538

Please vote for the gallery if you like it. Just read the text below the last image, and you'll see where to go.

As I got a really fats connection I finished your comic already *satis* I really enjoyed it, you improved the moving effect a lot and it is great to see how the story is going. I just live the "they were four rebels and they came on me", it was just sooo funnyyy.

I can't wait to see the second part (I wander what jesus and eduardo are doing now)

Hey, that was a great episode.. I really liked the conference with vadar. "We can win the war on terror.." :D and the 4 rebels part was great. I loved the monkey vadad too, that finished it for me! Great comic! I can't wait for the next. Oh and I hope you cleaned up the coke from the AT-AT pilot! :P

Thanks for the comments :) Two people have already asked me what the thing was on top of Vader in that image. They didn't see that it was a monkey head :| I thought it was pretty clear, but maybe I should have shot it from a different angle. One has "complained" about the blur effect in the images as well. I thought it was a cool zoom effect, and that it helped the scene. I guess I can't please everyone, but I'm happy to see that some like it at least. The pilot is clean from Coke now, don't worry about it. I lost the AT-AT pilot head between the scenes, but I guess that noone will notice that it's not the same face unless I tell them ;)

I haven't thought about what Jesus and Eduardo will do, but I'll think of something. Part two of this one continues with Solo. I'll post it later this week, probably...

Yes, I always try to include hidden messages, and it's fun when people actually let me know that they've found them. These ones weren't very well hidden, but there are tons of other things in the other episodes. And more or less famous quotes from movies are very often included, so if you know your film history, you'll might get out more out of the episodes.

Some people have complained about the dark photos as well, and that they can't see anything. Well, maybe they should get better monitors then, because this is the way it's supposed to be down in the bunker :) When I look at the photos from before PS altering, they don't look interesting at all. So I'm glad I made them darker.

I wasn't planning on including the meeting room and the scene with Vader actually. It was just something I added to the story when I realized that the episode would be too long if I didn't cut it in half somewhere. And a good place to cut it was when Solo had knocked down the other guy and tasted some Coke. Then I had to add something to that part. So I set up the stormies, and just added some walls.

I'm not sponsored by Coca Cola, but I thought of contacting them to ask if it'd be OK to include the Coke machine. I guess they're not watching this anyway, because if they did, I'm sure they'd find some way to press charges and sue me...

I'm trying to say that it's a bad thing to drink Coke, and that it makes you feel the need for it as soon as you've tried it once. It's like a drug.

In "the real life" I see many people being anti-Americans while still drinking the American Empire's drink. I think it's kind of silly that they complain about the capitalistic ideas and things like that during the day, and then go to McDonald's in the evening...

I love Coke (that's why I had some at home and could pour it over the Lego), and I'm not against America in particular. But I felt like including some more puns on Bush, because that's one of the most popular things to talk about these days. And everybody wants to be popular, don't they? ;-)

Thanks for the comment :)

Actually, the X:D-thing was close to not making it. But I didn't know what I should let him say when he was about to jump, so I gave it a try with this. Hopefully, it worked. I borrowed some from The Fugitive and Indiana Jones as well, in case you didn't notice. And modified a line from Blade Runner (the "What are you doing here - I'm working"-section), but it might have been far-fetched. Anyway, Harrison Ford is in all those movies as well. That's why he's getting the feelings of d

Sweet! The plot was great, lots of good references! And the AT-AT was, well.. WOW! That thing looks awesome, I would like to see some more shots of it.

Can't wait to see what happens next.

Thanks for the comments :) In case you'd like to see more of the AT-AT, it has a leading role in this episode: http://www.pbase.com/mistermattias/image/31119096

I guess I shouldn't tell you how the episode ends, if you haven't seen it.

The caterpillar tank the commander is talking about in this newest episode is the one seen in this episode: http://www.pbase.com/mistermattias/image/29749927

I just though it'd be a good idea to look at these, so that you'll know what to expect. I haven't got a clue about what's going to happen next, actually. But I'll think of something. I guess I'll have to steal some more sand from the sand box in the backyard... or maybe just bring the AT-AT and the caterpillar tank down there and start shooting...

hm...i thought i had already replied.....

but okay... then once again... ;)

i'm really impressed how you use all those baseplates in your stages / mocs!!! they fit in very well and this studs-everywhere look is just fantastic!!

and its really nice to see how the sets "really" look... ;) the imagination puts endless corridors to the not visible parts of the comic images, but the reality (tat means your behind the scenes pictues show): there isn't much behind!!! funny!!!!

please show us more of behind-the-scenes images if you have some!!!

Kinda repeating what Apo said, but I love you behind the scene images. It gives us a view of how you create you large MOCs you use for the stories.

I also like how you used the baseplates to make the walls and scenery.

I remember when you first started them at FBTB, you said that you made all your MOCs out of an ISD you took apart. Do you still use that to make them?

Jon.

Yes, the pieces from the ISD are very helpful for making all those Imperial places. Without it, I wouldn't have been able to build much actually, since I've mostly got red/yellow/white bricks from my childhood. Some gray castle pieces wouldn't get me very far either. I guess I'll never be able to re-build the ISD since I've got the bricks spread out in plastic bags and boxes around here. But I took some photos of it, and think I'll be able to include it in a future episode. I have to use my Ties and B-wings and A-wings as well, and the Falcon... so I'd better get them airborne soon. But, as I've said earlier, the thing that worries me most at the moment is that I don't know how to make explosions... and it's no fun without explosions, is it? :)

Does this count as a MOC? Probably not, and since it's just one photo, I guess I shouldn't have started a new topic just to show you this one. But I thought you'd like it, and didn't know where to post it. I just played around with PS today and made a black hole (or whatever it is), and let some stormies fall into it: http://www.pbase.com/image/34417168

Thanks, I'll see how I can use it in a comic. Don't be sad if it doesn't make it there, though. It'll be a bit difficult to make that many stormies fall through space like that and make it fit in the plot. On the other hand, my plot is somewhat insane anyway, so who knows :) It was just something I tried out after a couple of hours of Photoshopping. I made some brushes that let me paint stormies in different sizes and at random angles. It wasn't very difficult, and it might be useful if someone wants to create an army of storm troopers. All you need is one of them, that's what I used this time. I learned how to make explosions as well, so hopefully there'll be some spaceships involved in the comics soon. It's about time. :P

Since I've just learned how to make explosions and fire yesterday, I've still got some adjustments to do. But I've hotted up some of the old scenes in my Star Wars Lego episodes, and wanted to show you what I wanted it to look like when I once made them. Looking back now to how the images looked before, I can only say I'm sorry for not giving you fire before. I can't see how I could publish those photos without doing anything about the fact that there was something missing :)

Here are the retouched versions. I must say I like the first one of these best. And maybe I used a little bit too much fire in the elevator scene - concrete doesn't burn... But then again, Lego minifigures don't bleed. They melt :)

Cool, nice work there. Your photoshop skills are great and I love how you have got all these effects into your comics.

:$ I thought at first when you sent me this that it was a new comic, but I see its just some edited work. My mistake! Nice stuff though, and I can't wait to see the next one. :)
