"Fair enough, I suppose. But I think that you can probably be of some help to us in our investigation. Have you ever noticed anything at all odd about the gardener, Ansar, while you've been here? He got very irate when we asked him simple questions, and we found some blonde hairs strewn in his shed. Would you have any idea if he has been up to anything lately?"

And of Mandric, what was your impression of him?"

Haldor scratched his nose.

"No, Ansar has been quite normal, you must have irritated him in some way. Blond hairs? Well, my lips are sealed in that matter, sorry.

Sir Mandric is, sorry was, a real pain in the rear end. I didn't like his haughty style and that he always snooped around other people's business. Of course, I feel sorry for the priestess to have lost a family member, but I think the rest of us is don't exactly mind."

"Okay then, as long as you're sure that it has no significance in Mandric's death, I won't push you. So Mandric is likely to have upset someone in the Sanctuary then? Thank you for your time, mister, you have been of great help to us."

I now possess a depressing, and largely unexpected, absence of ideas for what it is that I could write in this space that would encourage, inspire or amuse any man, woman or child who takes the time to read this drawn-out and mindless drivel. I remain painfully aware of how this same passage could have been written in a far shorter and simplistic manner, whilst still maintaining its message and key purpose to all who take the time and effort to exercise their mind in understanding these words; however, this would barely give me half as much pleasure as the satisfaction that a large number of members on this website will soon or late find themselves working through this increasingly large collection of rubbish at least once, perhaps even twice if they begin to forget its contents. I hearby grant myself 500 bonus points for every unfortunate victim, now and in the future, that takes part in the aforementioned psychological experiment by bothering to read this huge tosh, excluding the numerous times that I myself have trawled through this... mess. Woah, I got a bit carried away there, that short message has transpired rather differently to how I was predicting it would. Actually, the bigger the better, I might as well increase its size even further by adding a long, torturous final sentence that is only as unnecessary as that whole lot of stupid, pointless waste of time was to both write, re-read, proof-read and then open for viewing by the general public. Have a nice day, folks!

Perhaps while friends walk, friends could share stories of what happened to each friend last night.  Both Chef and Ansar seemed to imply that Alexis should know what those two were up to.

Cronk went to watch training.  Mandric came and challenged Helmer.  Mandric won and Helmer seemed upset about it.  Then Mandric asked Cronk to accompany Mandric to dining hall where Mandric talked with Cronk until Mandric was very drunk.  Cronk was escorting Mandric back to quarters when Priestess came and took Mandric to bed.  Then Cronk went to bed.  That about it.

The heroes pass through the dining hall and the corridor to the sanctuary, they find another empty bottle of beer in the corridor:

In the corridor from the sanctuary to the dormitory the heroes stop for a moment to see if they can find anything of interest and to talk some about their nightly experiences.

On the shield of the statue with the armor, is a small piece of dark blue cloth. Cronk continues to search for more clues and actually finds a small letter in the helmet of the statue. It's addressed to "Small Socks" in a childish writing.

Haldor hung his head.

"Well, what I said to Ansar wasn't the whole truth I'm afraid. I was asleep, but not for the whole night, and at some point when it was still dark outside, I got up to go and find something to eat. I decided to take a shortcut through the Sanctuary to the kitchen, but on my way there, I came accross something horrible. Mandric's body was lying there, not moving, just limp in the middle of the room. Naturally, I went to see what was going on, and if Mandric was alright. As I knelt down to shake him awake, I started to notice that he wasn't breathing at all, and the blood, so much blood, everywhere. It was all over the floor, spreading out horrifically on the tiles, and on my hands, a grotesque dripping redness. I didn't know what to do, I panicked, so I ran quickly back to my bed, being clear to wash off all traces of blood. I know that I should have told somebody, and maybe the murderer might have still been around, but I was scared; I knew that if someone found me there, it could threaten Heroica's relationship with the order for ever. I got up the next morning with you and pretended that nothing had happened."

Haldor turned his face away in shame.

"I hope that you understand how I feel, Cronk. I want nothing more than to get to the bottom of this mystery."

Haldor should have trusted friend.  Getting an ealrier start could have caught killer earlier.  But what done is done.  Friends shold continue on.

This letter is odd.  Perhaps it would be good idea to head back to Sanctuary and look for "tomb".

The heroes go back to the sanctuary to look for the "tomb", and they the closest thing they find is a large white sarcophagus with 3 gems imbued on top and a strange wheel on the side:

Behind the sarcophagus they find a bottle of Nostrum.

Checking to see that no-one is around, Haldor attempts to turn the wheel on the side of the sarcophagus, while be careful not to damage anything.

"I'll have a go at getting this thing open, maybe you two should have a look for any kind of inscription."

Hmm... Wasn't Jorke missing some nostrums?  Perhaps the letter writer stole them.  If Jorke knows who took nostrums, it could lead friends to the letter-writer.  Small socks may have witnessed murder if out of bed last night trying to scare Mandric.  Or could be murderer.

Friends should look around and see if anything is different from wheel-turning.  Cronk will examine floor again.

Cronk examines the floor and while he can't be sure about it, some mosaic plates looks to be further away from each other then before. But the cracks are just half an inch wide and he can't see anything through them.

The gems does seem to be removable. There are three of them, from left to right; a sapphire, a topaz and diamond.

Hmmm...  Maybe if friends could get wheel to turn further or if there was another release, tiles would come away to reveal secret entrance.

Cronk will look around for other levers or wheels.

Haldor looks around and scratches his chin.

"Hmm, a very good suggestion there, Cronk. Alexis, you have a sapphire, do you not? If Cronk doesn't manage to find a sapphire anywhere over there, you probably could just use yours to put in place for now."

If either Cronk discovers a sapphire lying around, or Alexis volunteers to use hers instead, Haldor steps up to give the wheel another good turn.
