Lego Customer Service for missing parts ignoring my messages?

Recommended Posts

Hello there

Last Saturday I was in the LEGO in Munich, Germany and bought the DC sets 76025 Green lantern vs. Sinestro and 76040 Brainiac Attack.

After building the sets I noticed how 3 of my Figures had their Printings wrong ( Green Lanterns Body front was printed to much to the right, same for Martian Manhunter and Supergirl's back was also printed to much to the right).

So I went to the official LEGO website and asked the customer Service to replace those Pieces.

They usually take 1 or 2 days to sent me an E-Mail where I have to enter Code on the back of the instruction Book, but this E-Mail never came. I sent the E-Mail on Monday, I got the Confirmation that they have gotten the E-Mail, but thats it.

I think that LEGO is ignoring my Part Request because I am really kinky about misprinted Parts, especially on licensed Minifigures, so that I had asked them quite often for new Parts last year ( about 5 times).

Do you think I should call the customer service, or just wait for an answer?

Greetings,

Dosenbrot.

My suggestion would be to wait for the rest of the day and if you don't hear anything then try calling customer service tomorrow. In 5 days you should have heard back but there's a possibility there's a delay in response time following the holiday season.

Requesting three licensed minifig torsos from the same set may also have flagged up the request to be dealt with manually. I'd try phoning.

I found they didn't respond to two requests about the Ghostbusters instructions falling apart that were done online, but phoned after a month and they agreed to send a new copy of the manual.

Yes he has, about 5 times if you read the OP....

Thanks, jerk.

Yeah they will flag you down if they think you're abusing their system. And could even ban you

Phoning is definitely the best way to go. If you have requested new parts that often it is possible you have been flagged which will only increase your wait time.

If you do call them, offer to send a picture of the problem.

...And pointing out that a question had already been answered is not being a jerk.

It took them 5 days to respond when I filled out their online form last summer for my NXT hardware failure. They actually called me in addition to email.

I agree that a phone call would be best, from personal experience. Sounds like a flag has been raised too, though.

I find it hard to believe that three torso's from two sets had misprints. Not saying this didn't happen but highly unlikely. Do you have pictures of the misprints?

Pictures are always a good idea. I've seen some people complain of "broken" pieces, and in the picture it was actually just part of how it was molded.

But again, this is certainly possible, but rare I'm sure. LEGO's quality control does have some issues. I've had my share of problem sets, but not to this degree.

With that said, I'm sure your account has been flagged. I'm sure mine has been too. I've requested replacement licensed parts before (Iron Man legs were all broken thanks to the polycarbonate tubes on the bottom) and they made me jump through some hoops to get them replaced. I understand license agreements may limit certain things, but if you are going to not replace them like you claim to, you might want to not deal with so many licenses..

Similar situation about the Ghostbusters book. They wouldn't talk to me about it. They needed the number in the back of the instruction manual AND the receipt faxed to them. I of course didn't have the receipt since it was a gift and the number I gave them from the manual they claimed wasn't correct...odd since I was looking at the exact manual...

I'm glad so many people have such good luck with their customer service, but mine has been spotty at best.

I made some (crappy) pictures of the figures, there are on my flickr

https://www.flickr.com/photos/129793939@N07/

Strangely, for me those misprints feel much more worse then they are shown in the pictures ( you can hardly see them there)

For Supergirl: The Back is printed more to the left (not the entire back, but her spine and shoulder blades are)

For Martian Manhunter: His red lines are right, but his muscles are to much to the left ( look at his belt then you can see it maybe)

For Green Lantern: his torso is also too much to the left ( look how the middle line of his abs dont match up with the lower end of the triangle)

I've had to get replacements several times.

Two-face's face had inverted colors. Lines were dark purple, but the shading was black. They replaced it pretty quickly.

C3PO had his eyes printed too far off center making it look as if he's always staring away. The replacement unfortunately was also misprinted, except he's staring up now instead of sideways. So at that point I just gave up on getting perfect eye printing for him. I figured he'll appear in other sets so eventually I'll get a head with good eye printing.

Batgirl had problems with the lines. The purple had faded to white in several places. Also her hair had a few spot where the paint had been thin leaving black spots in her bright red hair. The replacements I got were worse than the original. The new torso had the lines double printed on there and the new cowl had three times as many black spots.

After that I sort of just stopped asking for replacements. So your mileage will vary.

I don't see anything even vaguely resembling a misprint there? You said that you have requested "replacement parts" 5 times in the past year? Were these all replacement licensed minifig torso's? Because yeah, I suspect you have found your way into the special file where requests must be manually investigated and validated. Some of what you perceive as "misprints" are probably flaws or the human element in the actual graphic art, such as how perfectly centered spines are etc. These are drawn by artists and often little shifts make things look more alive. Plus the art is done by hand and is simply using eyeball judgement. But to my eye those look like perfect or near perfectly printed figures.

Also just a suggestion for general internet safety. You might want to create a secondary flickr account using a screen name or avatar name to avoid accidentally giving out too much personal info when linking pictures to public forums.

^^

I agree, there doesn't seem to be any major misprint or anything deeply concerning there. If you really want a replacement then do the suggested advice above and phone them.

The only "problem" I could see was on Green Lantern, and even then it's not something I'd ever think to complain about in a million years.

It really is not a misprint, more a displacement of some of print itself.

Being a student for Graphic Design, I have to pay attention to litte details, which is probably the reason why this annoys me so much.

I know this can happen, since a machine isn't perfect just as a human, but this happens ALOT in licensed themed sets (or im just very unlucky).

As I suspected there aren't any misprints there. I would have flagged you as well.

I could see some white where red should be on MM. The left edge of the bandolier(?) and on the right side of the buckle.

Couldn't see anything wrong with GL or SG. You are being way too picky if nobody else sees what you see, and if this is the sort of complaint you've had before, good luck getting replacement parts in the future when something is really off...

Like "tractor" being MISSPELLED as "tracor" on the UCS Slave I sticker.

TLG makes millions of minifigs every year. If you were doing QA for TLG, you would be sending back more than half. There are acceptable tolerances in manufacturing, and complaining about anything within those tolerances is not going to get you anywhere.

I can't see any misprint either, except for the white on the edge if the red braces type things on martian manhunter.

Can't say these were badly misprinted. They are subtly off centred. I once got two classic heads where the eyes were drooped because of the way the printing machine connected to the minifigure head but it was quite noticeable. Usually Customer Service will in good faith replace the parts but when it comes to licensed themes things get dicey. TLG won't ever sell Star Wars minifigs for instance without 'bricks' in the set. I really wish I could actually read the licensing agreements to find out why.
