LDD MOC: Boeing 717

Due to financial restrictions, I can't build real models as of yet, so LDD will have to do, I've made several things in the past but this is the first time I decided to showcase a model online

Being an aviation fan, I decided to build an airliner using a combination of the big '<insert that tiresome argument>' parts for the cockpit and tail-cone and smaller parts for the wings and tailplane.

It contains more details than you would get in a typical CITY set, it has obvious cockpit and passenger seating put it also contains separate first and economy (known as coach class in America), folding seat for a flight attendant, fully featured galley and a bathroom in the tail-cone (not pictured).

Also not pictured is inverted roof pieces used to represent overhead compartments (although these make it difficult for minifigs to fit in comfortably) and clocks hanging from the ceiling in the aisle

Lots to love here... I'm glad you included a copilot. As an airline First Officer I always hated not being included in Lego models :) Love the FA jumpseat, doesn't look too comfy but they're supposed to be up working anyway. Maybe you could add a center counsel with some small screens for the Flight Mgmt Systems, altitude press systems etc... I think that light grey piece represents thrust levers, love that. The nav lights on the elevators are not necessary and would only be found on the wings. I'm not crazy about the lack of a turbine fan in the engines, but it's your plane and it looks great!

The 2006 7893 Passenger Plane set also included a copilot seat (it's where I got the cockpit design from).

Thanks for the advice on a center console, I'm currently trying to add one but it's hard to add without removing the thrust levers.

Don't know why I forget to add turbine fans, I'm currently trying to add those as well and the elevator lights have now been removed.

For a better presentation, use CTRL+K for a plain white background and use 'lines on bricks'.

yeah i'd drop the last two rows and put in a bathroom, also tile flooring and maybe a serving cart would be cool.

Very, very cool. My LEGO airliner that has the fuselage pieces used in this set went missing after a couple of moves so I can't build anything like this. I hope you convert that design to a real-brick model and post them here.

I really like the design of your plane, especially the wings. Looks much better than the usual wing part. Also the size is much more realistic.

Looks great! The 717 isn't very common, and I haven't been able to fly on one yet. I will be on its older brother tomorrow though, the MD-88.

Lucky, although we do have the 717 here in Australia, I have never been on one, I have only ever been on an A330, A320, 737, as well as having my own experience behind the controls of a Cessna 152 and a couple of Gliders.

I apreciate being in any aircraft though, it can be 737's only for all I care.

I went on the real life Boeing 717 Like a week ago and I can tell you this is not it. On this model there are no windows next to the engines. I sat in the back of the plane and there is the back row (No windows on that row) and the row after it, has windows directly next to te engines (therefore no view cuz engine is in the way) and ya. I was in that row sitting window. There was no view all you could see out that window was the engine. So edit the model if you want it to be exact.
