jimmynick Posted July 30, 2016 Ludwig Mies van der Rohe designed the campus for the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, where he was also the dean of the school of architecture for a number of years. The best-known building on IIT's campus, and one of Mies's most famous buildings, is Crown Hall. The building expresses its structure so honestly that it is a beautiful example of Mies's aphorism "less is more", and doesn't employ curtain walls simply for their own sake like certain other buildings do. Here is my take on Crown Hall: I rendered these pictures using Bluerender, which is a really easy tool to make nice pictures of digital models. Thanks for looking!
