Sienna

Recommended Posts

Okay so this is the Sienna a very small ship that I have to complement the Arbiter and the Covenant.

It will someday be the home ship of a small company of elite marines.

I KNOW ABOUT THE DUST, but only had limited time since I was rebuilding the Harbor.

You've been very prolific lately Mr Zcerebus!

But by now I'm wondering it you ever wash your LEGO :-D

The first thing I notice about the Sienna is you're using the wider hull piece but only one middle hull piece. So the ship looks too short and fat, the opposite of Covenant!

Funny... Yeah, well, where they are stored they get dusty, but I need some time to get them all cleaned up when I am not building like crazy to finish large Harbors on time! If only I could stop time!

Anyhow... they are the hulls from the Caribbean clipper, which also only used one hull piece. Originally I used the center hull section on a revamped Skull's Eye Schooner, but then the Sienna, a ship with no center hull section looked really out of place. I am thinking of revamping it to fit 10 Marines and some raiding gear, so it might end up longer.

Very similar to the IF indeed, but it looks slightly different...Nice ship.

But the only thing I can say about the mizzen mast is: ?

I wonder if that is historicly correct...

I think you'll need to make it longer. When I look at it I can't help but think its the same shape as some kind of bird, like a quail for example:

Maybe I've accidentally consumed those herbs Mr Landlubber was referring to!

I like the look of it. I like seeing ships in varying shapes and sizes, which is why I love seeing ships made from the Harry Potter or 4+ Pirate Hulls.

I like what you did with the sail on the back. I am not sure what that type of sail is called but I have seen it on ships before.

I really think you should consider dusting off your fleet because If it looks this good dusty, than I can't imagine how good it would look cleaned off.

Also, the figurepiece on the front (whatever they are called on ships - the figure on the front) has yellow hands and a yellow head...does this mean he is half of a living minifig!! (as yellow on figures in lego usually denotes Flesh LOL) (if your ship had more yellow on it I would assume the statue is just the color of the ship LOL, but there is no yellow on this ship)

Errr...wich herbs??

You'll have to ask Mr Landlubber that.

I've noticed there is an abundance of wavy red lags on the Sienna, and I'm wondering if they're too low because in the heat of battle they may get in the way.

Is that just me or am I a bit :S from these fictional herbs?

Someone forgot to press the "F" button that day. Wasn't me of course. I have a scribe who writes all my messages for me, I merely dictate the messages.

PS. I'm probably lying...

Yes, well the flags are mostly there so that it has a matching type element with the larger ships. Kinda keeps them looking like they all sail under the same group.

So anyhow... the new Sienna is going to be WAY different than the current. It will actually use the narrower hull pieces (because the new Covenant will be using the larger ones now) and will be made to be a very fast and maneuverable ship as it will carry a small group of marines to capture (or re-capture) pirate vessels. Pirates usually far out numbered their prey so that they could capture ships without doing large amounts of damage to them. Asymmetrically warfare, is their game, but even when these marines are not matched one on one with the enemy, they need not be because of their training and weaponry. That is what the royal navy hopes the marines and their ship will do, overmatch their enemies by use of elite fighting units!

The new Sienna, in fact, is a recaptured and modified ship that was popular with Barbary pirates. It was chosen for its unique speed and maneuverability in any wind conditions, and though it sacrifices firepower for speed, it will be decently formidable in it's own right! Stay tuned for Christmas when she is unveiled!

99790FEL.jpg this might be your friend. I'm not sure if it'll work 100%, better than dipping the ship in water. Or a duster, I'm not sure. Nice ship by the way. Your fleet is beautiful!

When I am not building ships or going to school, I am fairly busy with computers, so I have canned air everywhere!... in my apartment, in Saint Paul, 180 miles from my parents house... so I would need to buy some exclusively for dusting the ships, or bring some with me. My parent's hometown is very small, and there is only one or two places to get canned air. I plan on doing so sometime, but until I start rebuilding, it is a fact of life!

How many middle hull pieces will you use?

Why was this popular amongst Barbary pirates?

I believe I will be using 2 or 3... most likely 3.

Might 3 make it a little too long for the width of the hull?

;-) This is supposed to be the winking smiley but it might not be achieving the desire effect.
