Disney and Lego Join Forces

Seriously, what's there to talk about? He'll be a normal minifig with either a new hat or a fedora. Nothing else.

I think he'll have the classic cowboy hat that they brought back in the minifigure collection. The fedora is too flat.

Can we please talk about woody? I liked him more than buzz. Anyway, I hate to admit it, but the liklihood of lego Hanna montana sets is high when you consider that myley cyrus has a billion 6 year girls for her fan base...

That would only happen if the Hannah Montana sets are LEGO Belville sets.

According to FBTB, Lego will unveil minifigs from the Toy Story and Prince of Persia sets on wednesday! :sweet:

Yea I dont know if we will be satisfied with the sets. I mean what can you do for toy story sets, its a constricting area to make sets. There is no doubt that the minifigs will be incredible. A buzz lightyear minifig, it will look so cool and woody will look awesome aswell. But there will be some character that they wont be able to make into minifigs like mr potato head and mrs potato head and maybe not even slinky. As for prince of persia well I havent really been into that video game franchise that much but I cant wait to see all the weapons that lego make.

I cannot wait for Wednesday.

I'm going to go ahead and assume what most people are thinking.

Racer-style head, with a Purple Covering, trademark smile and beard-thing.

Sandy's Helmet, a back attachment with stud to attach wings.

New Torso, Green Crotch, White legs.

I really do hope to see some other characters.

It'd be really nice to see some insight to the new movie as well. :D

PoP, eh, I think it'll almost have an Indiana Jones-Oriental Expedition feel to it.

Let's just hope we don't see an Orc Sword. >.>

I have no idea how LEGO is going to make toy story minifigures, and I'm excited to see. toy_story_movie_image_buzz_and_woody.jpg

Based off of this picture, I would assume that LEGO would use either short legs for Buzz or new, taller legs for Woody. Obviously we are going to see new torso prints, hopefully arm printing for woody. I also think Woody needs a new head mold. I mean, look at how big his head is!!! His nose is pretty big, but LEGO usually stays away from noses, so it will be interesting to see how they handle that. I also would like to see a 'giant' figure to represent Andy.

As for Prince of Persia, as long as it doesn't replace Indy, I don't care what LEGO does with it, because it doesn't really interest me much at all.

Yeah, even though I convince myself that the sets will be awesome, I can't help but feel rather skeptical as well. As many said in the Bat Attack topic, TLG usually only makes vehicle based sets, and although I can see many location based sets coming from Toy Story (Andy's room, Dinoco gas station, Pizza Planet, Sid's room, Al's Toy Barn, etc.), there aren't many vehicle based sets I can see coming from it except for the scene where they ride on RC of course. :sceptic:

But there will be some character that they wont be able to make into minifigs like mr potato head and mrs potato head and maybe not even slinky.

In terms of making them into standard minifigs, yes. But considering how they pulled off all the SpongeBob characters, I'm pretty sure they can find a way. :classic: For example, I can easily see a Mr. Potato head done in the style of the Mrs. Puff minifig. And Ham wont be such a big deal either. Slinky however will be a tough one.

I wanna see a set of the cryogenic freezer Walt Disney is stored in

Even if you are kidding, this is the wrong topic for that. Wishes & ideas go here.

I cannot wait for Wednesday.

Sandy's Helmet, a back attachment with stud to attach wings.

New Torso, Green Crotch, White legs.

I agree with most of that, but as I have said a few times before, I'm pretty sure they will make a new shoulder piece mold for his chest armor/jetpack, even though the wings will probably be brick-built. He wont look fat enough if they don't. And Sandy's helmet wouldn't suit Buzz at all, so if they make a new mold for his shoulder/neck, they will also make a new half bubble helmet piece to go along with it, or at least make the new shoulder piece the way that it is compatible with one of the halves of Sandy's helmet.

I would assume that LEGO would use either short legs for Buzz or new, taller legs for Woody.

As I said some pages back, I don't think Buzz should have shorter legs. His legs are about as long as his body, so if they make 'em smaller, they will be too much out of proportion. Not sure whether they would make new legs for Woody, but I can definitely see them giving him a larger head. As you said, it's about twice as big as Buzz'. And when they make a new mold for his head, they may as well mold a nose on him too, just like they did with the new Squidward.

And if they make an Andy fig (which I doubt they will), they could just make him a Belville fig.

It'd be really nice to see some insight to the new movie as well. :D

 Yeah, but I doubt it. Pixar movies are some of the most secretive movies out there. Just look at their last movie, UP. Even I, a huge Pixar fan, didn't even know what exactly it was about until 2-3 months before its release!

Besides, it is said that the TS3 sets will be part of the summer wave, so it's unlikely they would show anything of those sets yet.

PoP, eh, I think it'll almost have an Indiana Jones-Oriental Expedition feel to it.

Let's just hope we don't see an Orc Sword. >.>

 Yeah, let's!

Then again, I'll be pretty mad if they bring back the scimitars for PoP, but didn't bother to do it for Indy! :hmpf_bad:

Bring on Wednesday! :sweet:

I think he was referring to the fact that those are toys licensed by other companies, and LEGO might not have the LEGAL ability to make them, not the physical ability to make them.

Oh yeah, there's that issue too. But since Disney had the permission to you use those toys as characters in TS and since Lego has a disney license, I think that should be OK because Lego is making toys of the characters, not the actual toys. Besides, the TS sets would be pretty boring if all of them would only include Woody & Buzz.

'Odd' shaped minifigs are nothing new, you needn't look further than sponge bob (especially at spongebob himself and Mr Krabs) to see the wonders LEGO can do with minifigs. Mr. Potatoe head will be almost exactly like spongebob, a 'sandwich board' head/chest over a plain brown torso, and short legs. Slinky could be brick built, or they could just take a dog minifigure and split it with a spring in the middle. I'm interested in how they will do the army men, it might end up being like how they did plankton (a single 1x1 printed cylinder)

Either way, very excited about tomrorow

But that would be some serious micro mechanics! Even if they pop up, they would still be too short because in the movie they also telescope out. I have not seen any other toy get that right yet, so how the heck would Lego do it? :sceptic:

No, I think it will probably be two of these with stickers attached to one of these which you can attach to Buzz' back.

unfortunately, i believe u may be correct, only one more day until we find out for sure.

but i think, if lego took the giant robot from Agents 2.0, and shrank it down to minifig size, they can use that robot cockpit as Buzz's new armour... if you get what i mean.

and if they DO make hannah montana or high school musical sets... i would buy them. just for the collection of minifigs, more importantly female minifigs. (in flesh). lego always comes up with a good selection of minifigs even if the sets turn out to be crappy. i bought all the speed racer sets, and the only thing i liked about them were the figs.

Can't wait to see those figures unveiled. I'm hoping Buzz and Woody both have normal fig heads. Prince of Persia doesn't hold my interest as a franchise, but as LEgo may make for some great figs and sets, so I'll look forward to that as well! :cry_happy:

To the Brickmobile!

I agree with you there, but I would go to bricklink for the figs. I could never actually walk out of the store carrying a hannah montana set. It would just be too weird.

Oh, and it said on the Comic Con flyer that the figs were going to be unveiled at 6:00 tonight? I wish that LEGO would do it in the morning, I hate waiting that long :hmpf_bad: ( ).

i wouldn't be caught dead carrying a set of hannah montana, it won't be weird. it will just be downright embarrassing. i'll have to tell anyone who would listen that it was for my sister or something.

unveiled at 6 tonight... meaning we'll see it tomorrow morning...

6 PM PST (Comic Con is in California)? That's like 7 hours (but probably have to wait longer, since people will have to upload the pictures and stuff). :oh:

I can't wait to see the minifigs, though. :classic:

I'm loving the little green army men, I will probably get the set with them if its cheap (Hopefully they will be in their own figure pack or something!) As for the rest of the Toy Story figures, I'm not sure. I'm a little wary with the new arm and leg molds, and the one piece heads. I'm hoping that they don't turn this into another Jack Stone, when they can make it a great line. I;m skeptical when they change the minifigure, why change something thats already so perfect?

Now, as for the Prince of Persia figures- I think that these figures will go great with some of the Indy ones. I will probably buy the sets even if I don't see the movie, if the figures are this great, I'm anxious to see the sets.

And the camel and the ostrich (especially) were totally unexpected, however VERY welcome! I can't wait to see more of the Prince of Persia!!!!

I don't know about these yet. To tell you the truth, the toy-story minifigs look too detailed. The bodies and Woody's tall legos look ok, but the head are... :sceptic:

They're just not very versatile.

EDIT: I do like the Persia figs though. I think they would be great for some Indiana Jones mocs, especially a Cairo dig site. Actually those new head wraps would look great on the sword guy.

So getting PoP sets next year. Those new head wraps, torsos, and helmets are great. Not sure about the Toy Story figs, although I will probably still get them.

Lets hope that those army men can come off the bases. Look at those military helmets in green. Absolutely terrific, I now can't wait until 2009 is over!

Those figs are frackin' beautiful.

I personally really like the detail.

Might not fit with regular minifigs, other than the Green Army men [which was a nice surprise], but nonetheless very fitting.

Printed Legs, very very nice wings and helmet for Buzz.

And Zurg. Didn't expect him either! Yay for purple!

PoP figs are looking really nice. New faces, beautiful headwear, neat torsos...

2010 looks like it'll be a pretty sweet year for figs alone.

All of this looks very awesome! :sweet:

  • Buzz: He looks great! He even has leg and belt printing! :cry_happy: Seeing the wings being new printed molds and his helmet being able to open sure are nice surprises as well. The only thing that bothers me is that his head seems a bit large and seems to be part of his chest armor mold. I hope that at least you can remove the wings, or if not, that we'll get a version of him without wings.
  • Woody & Jesse: I like the new long leg and arm molds. They make them look very accurate in relation to the other characters, even though they look very similar to megablocks figs. Too bad that their hats seem to be part of their head mold, but at this scale, they wouldn't fit normal minifigs anyway.
  • Pete & Zurg: Again, very good to scale with the other characters! I'm really glad that they made Zurg. His weapon is a big disappointment though. I was hoping for a clever brick-built gattling gun, but TLG had to go with the FFM solution again. :hmpf: They could've at least made the ball the right color, yellow. Oh well, I guess it goes better with the color scheme of the fig.
  • Bullseye: He also looks very accurate. However, his posability seems very limited, and I doubt that Woody will be able to ride him. :sadnew:
  • The army men: One word - Awesome! All those accessories in green, and those new helmet molds! Of course they are way out of scale, but who cares! I can see lots of war MOCs coming with these guys. TLC would be stupid not to release these in some kind of Battle Pack!
  • RC: Looks like a good set. I expected something pretty much like this. I wonder if you can put the rocket onto Buzz somehow.
  • The PoP figs: Excellent! Very much in the same quality as the Indy figs. And the camel and ostrich are undoubtedly great additions to the Lego animal kingdom. I'll be sure to get some of the sets, if only to get some of these great figs. The white head wraps will be great for a Staff of Ra Indy scene.

No sign yet of the LGMs, Mr. Potato Head, or Slinky. However, if they make the army men and Bullseye, I'm sure they'll make them too.

WOW! Those Prince of Persia figures really are incredible. The new molds are wonderful. I'll definitely be picking up a few of these guys. The Toy Story figs are actually pretty good. They manage to fit within the LEGO tradition while being surprisingly accurate to the film. I'm glad we didn't just get standard minifigs here as I think the licence is pretty signficant and a minifig simply painted to look like the characters would feel decidedly underwhelming. I'm really getting antsy for the rest of next year's stuff!
