I just tried my card code from the Queen Anne's Revenge, and it won't let me download the reward, I think it is a poster of the film but in LEGO. Could someone please provide the link for it.

I saw the fourth movie on the cinema a couple of hours ago and I find it very amusing how the sets are not so accurate to the scenes they are supposed to represent. I remember the same happened with the first IJ4 sets too. Especially 4192 looks a bit strange, but now after that I've watched the movie I could see myself buying it anyway, if only to get Barbosa's outfit. :pir-grin:

It happened with the PoP sets last year as well. They probably don't screen the movie for the set designers. They might get some concept art, still photos and maybe even some clips, and that would explain the discrepancy between the sets and the film. Also, many films these days aren't finished until the last minute...I remember hearing that at the premiere for the second Transformers, Michael Bay noted that some of the special effects were still unfinished and the final cut might be different than what was shown, since the movie had a wide release a week later.

There are different release dates for different countries. I think it's out in some European countries today or yesterday, last time I checked.

I saw it as well today and was about to say the same thing, some sets do not look like how they should in the movie and some sets I wuld say are missing characters that are quite pivotal. However the movie is actually really good, certainly better than the third film.

Luckily the LEGO ship i'm making at the moment looks like Barbossa's ship :pir_laugh2:

One of my past professional projects was a video game adaptation of a Pixar movie. It's pretty much like you said. They don't give you much to go on. At first we only got a general outline of the script. At some point, two or three of us got to see a screening of the edited movie in progress, which was half hand-drawn scribbles. So it was almost impossible to match certain scenes and layouts in time to have the product tested and complete for release alongside the movie. I also got the feeling that the movie studio was very careful about what parties got to see details, so as not to have leaks (like a copy of the script shows up online months ahead of time, and such).

I'm sure a similar thing happened to Lego. They might have gotten some production photos for some things, and maybe only got to see the script for other scenes. That might explain why some of the new movie sets don't match that well. I think the QAR might match pretty well (you know, given the low-ish piece count) because it probably took the movie folks quite some time to construct the setup and Lego probably got to see what they were doing enough ahead of time to match it. But then the lighthouse set is surprisingly complete and detailed, so who knows. I'm sure Lego has to have their designs complete enough ahead of time to ramp up production (know what parts to produce at the factories), and that time period might be a year or more ahead of the sets/movie release.

I feel it's a typical Lego thing not being even 100% close to scenes from movies (SW) or TV shows (CW). Take sets that include figures that are not even in that scene on the box art or worse are dead before that scene takes place. I'll see what everyone is talking about next week when I go and see it for myself.

Keep on drinking that rum. :pir-wink:

i did artwork on a product that was coming out with the release of Indiana Jones 4. Like other have said, we got about a dozen or two still images that didn't give away any of the story. Since the movie release was still months away the studios need to cover themselves if that one dishonest person leaks anything.

I saw On Stranger Tides today.

The movie fountain could not have been more different from the LEGO fountain!

When seeing that translucent blue LEGO column in the set, I was expecting an upwards gushing stream of water, peaking at the top and then cascading down, like a garden fountain. Er, no.

Not only that, but the shower curtain should have been horizontal. :pir_laugh2:

I saw the movie last night and I got to grab mine Whitecap Bay soon. Now I understands the various new characters. I got to agrees that the Fountain of Youth entrance is wrong, but I don't think it is easy to create a vertical entrance. I really wish that set includes Angelica or even the Spanish. :pir-blush:

Geez, I could now really relates all of the new POTC 4 sets in a fun fashion and it really thrills and excites me more after watching. Even though, I got some of mine own complaints with regards to the movie, but there is nothing I can do. To appease yourself, getting those LEGO sets are a nice start and everything about it. I can't believe I will enjoy this theme much. Now, I need to expand my POTC collection soon.

if that Builderanddestroyer sais it like that it's hard to believe, maybe I should "call" Lego and ask, (should I try costumer service ?)

But I do think the Black Pearl will be a set, I'm not sure about the Flying Dutchman but I am about a Davy Jones minifigure

I think there will be a dutchman, but lego would never release it the same year as QAR and the BP. So maybe next year?

And that is a big maybe, we have not even heard if there will be a second wave, but remember there was two seperate waves of Toy Story - Cars/Cars2 were almost released together and POTC is more popular than PoP was.....so who knows.

Hopefully Lego again might make things clearer.....but I won't hold my breath ! :pir_laugh2:

Indeed, with a global community, it's important to remember that the world does not revolve around the place you are from.

Seeing as you've seen the film, I have a question. You may not have noticed, but how prominent of a role did acoustic guitars lay in the music? I have the soundtrack for the movie, and there is a fair mix of classic Hans Zimmer music, but also a fair bit of acoustic stuff. Sorry if this is off topic.

As for another wave, we may have only rumours, but I would not be surprised to see at least one more wave from this them. I could see TLG going down the same route with this as they did with Indy. Have about 8 sets based on the classic films and the new one, and then the next year, have another wave with a fair assortment from each of the films. I hope we get some AWE sets. Possibly, if the Pearl is based on DMC, the Dutchman could be based on AWE.

For any of you with Barnes and Noble gift cards; they have a coupon code that offers 30% off one toy item which includes Lego. They have POTC sets online with estimated shipping of 3-5 weeks if you want to give them another shot after they cancelled all the pre-orders. I just ordered QAR, so hopefully I'll get it at some point. Technically, 30% is better than 10% and only 2 months later than expected.

Coupon code is V7T4Y4X

Code found via Toysnbricks.com

I just got back from the movie and now realize how strange these sets really are. As was mentioned before, the entrance to the fountain should be upward, we need the Spanish/the Spaniard, and where are those coveted silver chalices? Also not sure why the Map is in the Fountain scene (in which the actual fountain is also all screwed up...), and lastly, there is no battle in the 'Captain's Cabin", though there are Ships in bottles (one being the Pearl).

I am very happy that we have semi-conformation of the 2nd wave. Can't wait for images (firstly of the Pearl!)

Sorry for this off-topic bit: I know this wasn't addressed to me, but I too am a fan of the Pirates music and therefore can answer your question. Though the soundtrack is filled with many Spanish-style acoustic guitar pieces (which are different but very good), the actual movie does not use that much. The chanting bits are used more often, as well as the Angelica bit when she's featured/talked about. Mostly though, it's the classic (but slightly different) Hans Zimmer musical scores. Overall though, the balance was tilted to Zimmer, but with a fair bit of Rodrigo y Gabriela music mixed in.

The Fountain of Youth is a completely different design from the movie, but I actually prefer this one as a Lego set. This one has interesting pieces and a more fun design, I imagine a set based on the actual scene from the movie would be kind of dull.

I understand why Blackbeard needed a specialised sword piece designed (If you've seen the film, he does have kind of a noteworthy sword), but his hat is the same size as a regular tricorn. Incidentally, does anyone have any pictures of what Blackbeard's hat looks like on a minifig without the giant beard? I suspect it would be very oversized.

I'm glad they designed the globe for the Captain's Cabin set, even if there was no globe in the film. It still makes a pretty awesome piece.

As for the film itself, I feel it was lacking a little. The bits with Philip and Syrena were particularly bad, it's like they needed to replace Will and Elizabeth with a couple even more annoying. And they replaced Pintel and Ragetti with one guy called Scrum, and they didn't have the comic soldiers either, so there wasn't as much comic relief beyong Jack himself. It was still worth watching just for Jack, though, even if it didn't have that added charm.

Oh yeah, and if you're planning to see the film, remember to sit all the way to the end of the credits! Pretty much 95% of the audience had left by that point, even though all of the previous films had featured post-credit scenes.

I saw the movie 8/10. Its better then AWE and on par with DMC. Darkest one yet, but great, loved the absence of Will and Elizabeth, didn't find Syrena and Phillip remotely annoying, their longest scene togeather without interuption is only about 45 seconds. The Spanish story is fine, Jack is in character the entire time, Blackbeard is an evil SOB. Sets didn't look fake, action was not half cooked, I could go on and on.

Really don't understand where those complaints are coming from at all. The movie doesn't deserve any of the comments its getting from the critics, they are flat out wrong about 90 percent of what they claim to be problems. I really believe half didn't see the movie and just wanted to jump on the trash train, and the other half watched a crap quality bootleg at home. Only way to explain it really.

Luckily real people who are seeing it all seem to agree that its awesome.

I'm happy to hear your review, I'm going to see it tomorrow and I'm damn excited, even after reading some poor reviews.
