BillytheKid Posted September 1, 2010 (edited) Name: Freight Train Set No.: 7735 Theme: LEGO / SYSTEM / Trains / 12v / Train Set Year: 1985 Pieces: 501 Minifigs: 2 Price (when it was in stores): USD 100.00$ (which equals about EUR 80€) Price nowadays (2d hand): USD 185.00$ (which equals about EUR 150€) This set looks great to begin with. A nice little diesel train with some wagons with it. It came with a circle of track and a little station too. The speedregulator had to be bought seperatly. Lets show the pic's of this goodlooking train: Click on pic to get a bigger one The right view: Click on pic to get a bigger one The left view: Click on pic to get a bigger one The colors of the diesel itself looks like be copied of set 7740. Although it looks very good. I love also those connecting rods on the wheels itself. It gives just a bit extra. Lets see the working place of the locomotive itself: Click on pic to get a bigger one Click on pic to get a bigger one When you look at the 1st wagon, special for transporting 2 racemotorcycles. Click on pic to get a bigger one The 2d wagon has a small shell fuel tank and a little fuelingcar. I don't where it's for, but maybe handy when the train comes without fuel somewhere during the trip. Click on pic to get a bigger one The 3th wagon is handy for transporting all kind of small cargo, like boxes or mail. It's design is wonderfull. It's complete yellow and those doors are expensive. Click on pic to get a bigger one Click on pic to get a bigger one And lets not forget the little trainstation. It's simple, but very effective. Also a little fence with tools, if repairs is needed. Click on pic to get a bigger one You can also make a 2d model of this set: In the past I needed a 12v motor and rebuild this set to 9v. In my eyes it's a perfect train for 9v. Mine has 9v lights as extra, these parts: look closely to the train itself: Click on pic to get a bigger one Click on pic to get a bigger one And when you put the 12v version beside the 9v version, both look good: Click on pic to get a bigger one I made also an extra wagon with to transport atlantisset 8057. Click on pic to get a bigger one Click on pic to get a bigger one Playability: 7/10 (It's missing of an included speedregulator.) Design: 8/10 (Colors are copied, but it looks very good.) Price: 6/10 (The 2d hand prices are fair enough, I guess.) Overall: 8/10 (Good design, pretty easy to get for a 2d hand set.) I voted that the set was Above Average, because I like the look of the set, but feel the current price is too high for my liking. My 9V sets are getting some 12V mates. It's a pity that you have to buy the speed regulator separately. When you buy it, is a connection wire included or do you have to buy it separately as well? Why is Octan stuff not existant in your LEGO city? If you've never bought any sets that include Octan things, I'm sure you've already missed some great sets. ...and I find this set train-tacular! Call me oldfashion, but I stick to Shell. Exxon is used in USA and is ideal for competition beside Shell.Offtopic, but this is a typical octan set: This is what I did with it: Also tried to make a Shell version, but hadn't the time to finish it .
