This set looks great to begin with. A nice little diesel train with some wagons with it. It came with a circle of track and a little station too. The speedregulator had to be bought seperatly. Lets show the pic's of this goodlooking train:

The colors of the diesel itself looks like be copied of set 7740. Although it looks very good. I love also those connecting rods on the wheels itself. It gives just a bit extra. Lets see the working place of the locomotive itself:

When you look at the 1st wagon, special for transporting 2 racemotorcycles.

The 2d wagon has a small shell fuel tank and a little fuelingcar. I don't where it's for, but maybe handy when the train comes without fuel somewhere during the trip.

The 3th wagon is handy for transporting all kind of small cargo, like boxes or mail. It's design is wonderfull. It's complete yellow and those doors are expensive.

And lets not forget the little trainstation. It's simple, but very effective. Also a little fence with tools, if repairs is needed.

You can also make a 2d model of this set:

In the past I needed a 12v motor and rebuild this set to 9v. In my eyes it's a perfect train for 9v. Mine has 9v lights as extra, these parts:

look closely to the train itself:

And when you put the 12v version beside the 9v version, both look good:

I made also an extra wagon with to transport atlantisset 8057.

Playability: 7/10 (It's missing of an included speedregulator.)

Design: 8/10 (Colors are copied, but it looks very good.)

Price: 6/10 (The 2d hand prices are fair enough, I guess.)

Overall: 8/10 (Good design, pretty easy to get for a 2d hand set.)

Also a little joke of mine:

Octan is forbidden in my town. Only Shell and for the 2d player in the fuelmarket, Exxon is allowed  .

Thanks again reviewer!

I think this cargo train was pretty cool. Not exceptional, but each car is definitely nice.

Good review, I really like the 12 volt era and sometimes I wish I lived back then. But now we have also good trains. You're collection is very impressive. Do you own all the 12 volt trains or are you still missing some?:classic:

Great review, AFOL12v!

I like the wagon you made with the Atlantis set. I voted that the set was Above Average, because I like the look of the set, but feel the current price is too high for my liking.

Well done on the review. :classic:

Great set! I love those old 12V sets! Maybe I'll have that set too. I have been looking for 12V stuff for a while. My 9V sets are getting some 12V mates.

It's a pity that you have to buy the speed regulator separately. When you buy it, is a connection wire included or do you have to buy it separately as well?

Why is Octan stuff not existant in your LEGO city? If you've never bought any sets that include Octan things, I'm sure you've already missed some great sets.

...and I find this set train-tacular!

Octan isn't a gasbrand in real life. In the past Shell was the gasbrand in Legoland. Call me oldfashion, but I stick to Shell. Exxon is used in USA and is ideal for competition beside Shell.

Offtopic, but this is a typical octan set:

This is what I did with it:

Also tried to make a Shell version, but hadn't the time to finish it  .

Nice words I share that thought

In my town Octan is only for airport and marina, the city use Shell since year 1975!

My 6594 set has been made in Shell colors
