Set No: 30002

Name: Police Boat

Pieces:32; 2 spare

Release year: 2009

Price: Free with newspaper, 65p if you're just after the set.

My apologies for poor lighting - this was due to typical British weather for autumn (i.e. gloomy and lightly raining)!

The polybag, as usual, has a picture of the model on the front:

The pile of pieces is quite 'normal':

And sorted, we can see the main colours are blue, grey & white:

I, personally, have never seen a police fig with this decoration. But then again, I haven't purchased any poleice items since 2005, when the first city sets came out!

And the images you've been dying to see (lol):

During building (just after step 3):

The spares; one 1x1 round trans-yellow and one of the control arm thingies:

And the finished item:

And with the fig:

Though the controls don't fit into the hands of the fig:

And the fig off to patrol somewhere..though someone should've told him that he needs water...

Conclusions:

It looks 'alright' in my opinion. The control equipment could've done with more thought (e.g. 2 control sticks on a 1x2 white brick?) as they don't fit into the hands of the fig. The visor/windscreen thing looks useless to the fig - especially as it's only for infront of him.

Thanks for the review

I decided to pass on this one, as it hasn't got much going for it, and the heavier price tag put me off.

That said, I do like 1x2 trans blue tiles...

Is the 2x2x2 white slope with or without the tube in the bottom?

It's the 2x2x2 slope, and it has got a tube in the bottom.

Good review for a cute little boat. On the subject of the controls I would replace them with a steering wheel assembly from a police car and also give the officer a cap instead of a hat would look more logical down at the beach. Oh yeah he must be a good swimmer because he has got a life jacket on neither. I might try to knock one of these up LDD and moc it I guess.

This set looks oddly "tall" to me. I like the 4992 firefighter promo a lot more.

Nice review!

Yeah, it looks a little bit unstable with that height...

But I like it. It is a cute little set!

Ahhh another Promo review from the Daily Mirror sets

Nice Job.

Well all these small sets work well as impulse none of them are really must haves.

The boat is nice but I could make 10 of these from spare parts

I do like the clever use for the boat throttle however.

I found that by fitting the control sticks in the figs hands then positioning these onto the holder for them it looked a lot better!

I think I just got the one of these. Nothing fantastic but I suppose the minifig parts will come in handz, and for some reason, I have a particular fondness of hull pieces. Goes back to my childhood, I think, but for the life of me I can't figure out what, exactly. Anyhow, yeah, fairlz mundane model overall.

At least I got the right minifig head this time. With the fireman car, I got the criminal head with the gold tooth. Either that was a mispack, or LCFD's background checks are not what they used to be.

Nice review, some white paper fora background would have helped you, the coloring on your table is distracting.

As for the set, I think it's nice and funtional. Very small and a tad tall, but real life police boats always have sirens and lights up way to high.

I think for how cheap it is and for what it is, it's a great set.

Nice job on all the pictures too!
