The Baritones Day 3-The Citizens Strike Back!

Recommended Posts

day_03_01.jpg

Right before sunrise, a dark figure broke into Carter's home. It appeared another murder would take place in the once peaceful town of Moonlight...

day_03_02.jpg

Carter was no fool, though. He knew there were bad people in town and he knew they'd be after him, so he kept a shotgun next to the bed. He heard the intruder break in and when the figure appeared in his bedroom doorway, he fired...Bang!

day_03_03.jpg

And killed patty the biker/randomparrot!

day_03_04.jpg

As people ran towards Carter's house to investigate the gunshots, they saw a strange sight at Al's house. It appeared his house had been burnt to the ground! But the gunshots had to be investigated first. Was there another figure in the rubble?

day_03_05.jpg

"Patty broke into my house with a gun last night and I shot her dead!" cried Carter.

day_03_06.jpg

A quick search of Patty's person revealed that she was the Godfather, the highest ranking member of the Baritone family.

However, the incident raised many questions: Where did Carter get the gun, since guns had been outlawed in Moonlight since the crime spree began? Why would the mob be after an old retired newspaper editor? Did Carter have something to hide?

day_03_07.jpg

Before anyone could make any accusations, they were reminded of the sight they saw when they passed Al's house...

day_03_08.jpg

Al was burnt to a crisp and his house had burnt to the ground. A quick search of what little was left confirmed that he was indeed a citizen. However, upon closer inspection, the citizens found that he had taken one of Neal's briefcases. It was still clutched in his burnt hands along with some other papers. Further inspection of these papers and the contents of the suitcase revealed that Al was a traitor...but why? The citizens decided to head to Ivan's restaurant for breakfast to look over the evidence...

day_03_09.jpg

Looking through the evidence was shocking indeed. The first piece of paper clutched in Adam's burnt hand read:

"Dear Al,

Due to your excessive gambling debts, we have no choice but to kill you. Unless of course, you help us by steering the citizen's votes towards who we want to get rid of. They've formed a vigilante group to flush us out and will vote to condemn one person to death a day. Help us get rid of the other citizens and we will let you live... We should be telling you this in person and it's very unwise for us to put it in writing, but here it is, nonetheless.

Sealed with a kiss, fuggid about it, rigatoni,

The Baritones"

The other piece of paper read:

"That Neal, the cameraman is asking too many questions. Vote for Neal today or swim with the fishies. I mean sleep. Sleep with the fishies. Swimming would be fun, this wouldn't be fun...you'd be dead. Vote for Neal or we'll kill you.

Love,

The Baritones"

Neal's briefcase contents were scarce but very clear. Most had been burnt, but this snippet remained:

"...not sure yet who the members of the Baritones family are, but I am working on several leads. I have discovered traitors amongst the citizens, however. They are individuals who owe a good deal of money to the Baritones through excessive gambling debts. A lot of the crime in the town is being committed by these traitors, in exchange for extensions on their loans, or simply in fear for their lives, no doubt. I'm not sure how many traitors there are among them, but I have identified two: Al, the personal trainer and that old reti..."

day_03_10.jpg

Before anyone could respond, a loud noise was heard outside and several people rushed out to see what was going on. They were greeted with the sight of heavy construction equipment moving down the street.

"More new characters?" Someone sneered.

"No no" laughed the foreman, "We're not characters, really. No one will be playing us. We'll just be a plot device."

"What kind of plot device?" Someone asked.

day_03_11.jpg

"Well," said the foreman, "to sum up so we can move the plot along, we've been hired by a Ms. Patty Baritone to knock down every building in town to make way for a series of Casinos and Hotels, corporate fast food, strip clubs, brothels and a Pet store..."

The citizens looked dumfounded as the work crews went back to their trucks and began to dismantle the historic buildings of beautiful downtown Moonlight...

Rules:

You have all been sent instructions by PM explaining who you are and what your objectives/night actions are. Read these PMs very carefully. They are very clear on what you need to do in order to win this game. Make sure you understand what it is your character needs to do in order to win. The information is there for you, make sure you understand it.

Each day of the game will consist of a day and a night. During the day, you have the option to condemn one citizen of Moonlight to be executed. Only at the beginning of the next day will you learn if you've killed a fellow Citizen or a Baritone. The day will last for four real time days or until a conviction is made. If no conviction is made, then no one is executed. Once the day is over, the night begins which is when you can PM your night actions to me.

This is a triumph over the great loss of Neal, with two Baritone members, if you can't a traitor as a member, being dead. However, we do not have our investigator. He was a great reporter, and I will be sure to arrange a funeral for him. *mumble* If someone helps with the other funerals...

But I am confused about the construction. I thought Carter killed her in the night when she tried to assassinate him, and I am happy that you have killed someone so powerful. That leaves the question: Did she even care if she was revealed? It can be assumed that she planned to succeed, but then these construction workers would have revealed her. No matter what the answer is to that, I will not rest until this construction stops. Casinos? There is no time to gamble, and besides I'm sure none of us gamble under than traitors. Hotels? Who comes here anyways? We got homes! There's enough fast food going around, and strip clubs are quite offensive to me. I do like pets though... you can meet my turtle Squirt! (my real life turtle's name)

There are many things to investigate here, mainly relating to Carter's possession of a shotgun, not a pistol, but even a shotgun. Plus there are Neal's files, which we need to find out more about. *mumble* Good idea guys... make the guy who's never used a gun before be the executioner..

*Step into Ivan's resturant*

More killings! How could our Moonlight allow such rampage? All I wanted to do, is living out in this beautiful scenic town, painting lovely scenery of these rich historical buildings. Now, the Baritones had really gone too far on this... I will join in with the rest of the citizens to search for the evil culprits behind these entire carnage!

(OOC: This is my first post in the 3rd day)

Neal was wrongfully accussed at the 1st day as he was sniffing around for clues. I am very sure Neal was onto something. Why did his video camera went missing? Wasn't the camera supposed to be kept safely by the mayor the night before Neal was killed? He has two briefcase with him.

We managed to recovered one from AI and revealed several key notes, indicating that some of us are actually citizens by nature, but was driven by the forces of evil and transform them into a puppet controlled by the Baritones. Perhaps, Carter can give us a good explaination on why you have a shotgun beside you? Are you anticpating something? I must give credit to you for eliminating Patty whom is the Godfather. Tell us the truth...

Such treacherous actions shall be punished!

With a *POP* the ghost of Florence appears

Dear citicens of Moonlight! Please fear not! Although the usual time for ghosts to appear is midnight, I fear I cannot contact everyone of you at the same time because of the curfew. But the love for my city and the love for life convinced the forces of good to not only let me get back to my beloved town in this ghostly form, but also to appear in daylight.

Last night saw a great step in cleaning this town of the Baritones with the death of the Godfather herself... (Wouldn´t that be godmother then? Anyway...)

But there´s still more than enough scum in this town. And the worst because most powerful amongst the citicens is the one who not only points his fingers to other innocents, but also guns to the ones meant to protect this town!

He knew that the two people that got shot in broad daylight were FBI agents.

He most certainly knew that Neal was working undercover for the FBI as well.

And just before Neal was able to blurt it out, he killed him!

He´s not even a citizen that got manipulated by the Baritones, he´s a Baritone himself!

*phewt*y the Mayor! (OOC: Florence is literally spitting his name out)

I have sworn to protect this town with all the power I have at hand, and my spirit will not stop until the last of those bastardly Baritones is dead!

I´m sorry, my dear friends, my powers are fading. It´s too hard for a ghost to appear in daylight this long. If the powers above permit, we will see us again.

Ivan, I will always love yo..........

Har, avast there me loyal friends and scallawags! Wha? Oh, I was making mistake and drinking the rum instead of the vodka. I am sorries. (OOC: It's Talk Like a Pirate Day, I had no choice).

While it is the obviousness that Carter is probably a traitor who took good opportunity to kill boss who manipulating him, he is still a citizen in the final countingses, I think, so I am saying we let him live, maybe jus for now, maybe longer if he can providing the help and remorse. Until we are certain of his loyalties, I will not be making the listening to his advices.

Oh my, you are serious, you are not the cussing type. I have no doubt of your word, I never did and I never will.

Vote: Bastard politician Petey / ptdapen

This would be making of the good time for Carter to show loyalty to citizens and deal with this bastard. Wouldn't you be thinking?

Ivan, I will always love yo..........

*faints, but with a smile on his face*

*wakes for a moment* I should also be mentioning that I was receivingses of a note on my doors this morning from Baritones. If they would like to come here, I will show them where they can be placing this note.

Alright a double win for the citizens of this lovely town!  Cant believe we Carter killed off the Godfather! Now we are getting somewhere. I really was distressed at my leading the way for a vote for Neal, but now his death is leading us to tracking down the Baritone scum!

My poor Al was a traitor/and two timer. Patty is one lucky dead biker chick, as I would have been after her for forcing Al to vote with traitors. Not to mention someone torching his house and killing him. Ivan and Darleen I feel your pain, even though our relationship was in the early stages, whereas you had a lifetime with Florence.

So, Al was either able to break into the Mayors office or got the briefcase off another town member! Very interesting.

Ivan! Ivan! look! look!

Whoa! that is one pissed ghost! She does have a point about the Mayor being very unscrupulous! Looks like people in this town are on a win with ghosts and dead FBI agents pointing us in the right direction! i hope.....

For know I vote ptdapen/Mayor it all seems to add up and we must see that poor Florence came back to us for a reason.

Mayor can you possibly say anything to sway mine or others in condemning you?

Ivan im sorry I didn't hear you speaking before me! Sorry to interrupt.

"Avast me hearties it be a crooked Mayor off the port bow" whoooooaaaa, where did that come from? I must have been standing a little too close to the cosmetics cabinet this morning

Dear lord what ungodly things are happening! It appears we have caught our first Baritone, which is great, and we now have a lot to think on. Al, although a traitor, was still a citizen, so it is a sad loss. These papers are also something fr us to look into, but first I would like to address what my dear departed sister had to say.

I find a lot of her evidence to be substantial and conclusive. In fact, I myself was thinking a fair bit along those lines as well, and if she hadn't said it already, I would certainly have told you all. It is an obvious clue that the Mayor shot Neal before he could say he was FBI. Indeed, if te mayor knew the first two agents, he surely would know this one. The utter bastard! To think that our supposed 'good' mayor is in fact a nasty Baritone, and responsible, in some part, for the death of my dear sister. It is horrible! I feel that I must indeed support my family, and I to will Vote: The Mayor (ptdapen). As a member of the great court of law, I see enough evidence for us to condemn this man as none other than the bastard he is. To hell with him! Let us rid this town of these Baritone bastards for ever!

Now, I'm, going to go have a little 'chat' with these construction workers and see if we can't perhaps come to a compromise. After all, we've killed the person that would pay them, and it's not like the Baritones even own this land in the first place. This is our land, and we shall defend it! Besides, unless the Mayor is a Baritone, which I most certainly now believe he is, they would not be able to get council consent to start tearing down public buildings! Therefore, for them to be doing so, the Mayor has to be a traitor! It all makes so much sense!

Also, there is the issue with Carter. Obviously he is a 'traitor' as we call it, but I believe that the traitors are still citizens, just ones that are being forced by the Baritones to do other than they wish. But we must fight the Baritones! If any of the rest of you are in the same situation as Carter and poor Al was, then speak up, for we can help. The Baritones will not get a chance to hurt us if we unite together against them. The only way to defeat them is to work together people!

I need a drink!!

It is very easy for someone to say one thing and yet intend to do another. In fact, I would have to say that our Mayor is not much different to most politicians. Anyway, the evidence is there, and if you can't see it, then you must have some reason not to. What are you hiding Betty? Is your tax business not going so well any more? Do you owe money to the Baritones, and are you even now betraying us to try and stay in their good books? Is this why you have been so desperate for clients? If so, I am disgusted. Do not let the Baritones bully you Betty. You must stand up for justice and the truth. The law must be maintained, and these Baritones will feel the hand of the law, if not today, then tomorrow. However, if you are a Baritone... well, I certainly hope, for your sake, that you are not...

There certainly must be some subtle clue i'm failing to see in regards to 'construction workers', Where are the 3 beefcakes?

It was to be expected that the power of loaned money, gambling debts etc could be used by the Baritones to influence the voting etc, cant believe we didn't see such an obvious plot device!

Ah, another baritone caught - we can only hope that Florence is right, but now it all makes sense - the notice that the town would be leveled for casinos, obviously owned by the Baritone family! Pete, I voted you in - how could you do this to me?

Vote Mayor/ptdapen

And for the record, I have more suspicions now...but they can wait until I have more solid evidence tomorrow.

I think it's obvious that Carter is somehow involved with Baritones, but he did kill the Godfather. I think it would be wise to wait and see with him, not to mention now that we have this new lead...

Vote Mayor Petey/ptdapen

It hurts to think that our mayor could be working against us, but the evidence all adds up. Plus it was given to us by someone we all loved... I would be surprised if it turns out to be false.

Another one I think we should keep an eye on is Veronica the news reporter. It seems to me she wanted Neal dead, and she had the access to take his camera.

Apologies for my lateness. I have been trying to calm myself down after last nights ordeal. But Patty didn't need a gun to kill me, I am still worried about my heart racing. Alas, I killed someone, so I must attend church this Sunday. Even though she was the highest ranking member of a terrifying group, I have commited a sin.

Now, as for myself. Unfortunately, everyone is convinced that I am a traitor. Due to the ferociousness of the Baritones, I am. If I didn't vote for a certain someone, when told, I would have been killed, or drafted into their crazy lifestyle. I knew that no matter what, they would eventually try and kill me. So I got some protection. A shotgun. Which I won in a poker game from a British game-hunter. Obviously I couldn't just go out and buy one, with my age, most people would have thoght I was the Don. Now, hopefully the family has broken up, due to their lost leader... so I can think for myself. I see a lot of people voting for our Mayor, whom I don't suspect too much... yet. I will need some time to think. And before I delve into the wildness of my brain, I would like to apologise. For everything I have done these past few days... except killing that Biker/Godfather

What if Patty was invited to Caters houses by another member of the baritones (telling Cater to prepare himself) or Cater himself only to be killed in a plot for someone else to be God farther.

Also... whats all this about deystroying our homes... I'm going to ask the landlord if theres a room above the pub on offer.

As what I have suspected, Mr.Mayor. Politics are dirty. I am supposed you are involved in a certain way. Did you know that Neal was a FBI Officer all this while, when he showed you the camera earlier? I am certain Neal was keeping something from us, as he is unsure whom to trust. He trusted you, by placing the camera with your possession. Upon his convinction earlier, you volunteer to finish him off, without giving him a chance to explain himself, when Neal said the following,

"Wait!" Pleaded Neal, dropping his suitcases, "I'm innocent. I can help you all find out who the Baritones are. There's some footage on my camera and I have some other leads in these briefcases. There are other people you need to worry about besides the Bartiones, I'm afraid. I'm sorry I haven't discovered anything solid yet, but if you give me some more time, I'm a Federal..."

Neal have mentioned this, when he was trying to clarify his innocence with all of you, pleading to all of you whom voted against him.

You're welcome to check the camera. I dropped it off at the mayors office for it to be checked last night before I went home for curfew.. It should be still there, and It contains nothing incriminating.

If the camera contains nothing, why did it go missing, along with the briefcases? Remember, we managed to recover one briefcase from AI, and it reveal vital clues to us... We need to find the footage and the other briefcase. Perhaps, someone is keeping it away from us.

More importantly, the spirit of Florence had spoken. I don't really remember having much encounters with spirits in broad daylight. I am very sure that she is taking a big risk to use supernatural power to come into contact with us, and convey an important message. I am very sorry for Ivan. Your wife is a brave woman, protecting us from the Baritones.

As far as I am concern, I am most certain that the Mayor is guility for all this actions. Quoting from several clues findings, the percentage of you siding the Baritones is much higher. Who else could they seek to control the entire situation? Are you working hand in hand with them in the dark! I am giving you a chance to defend yourself! Where is the camera!!!

I wanted to give him a fair chance, to tell us something of what we should know. I don't care whether it is truth or false. I am sure there will be some truth in what he will said. Why don't we give him a chance to explain out? There is nothing to lose.... I am sure at the end of the day, the results are pretty obvious.

(OOC: Give him a chance to type it out, before he is offically convicited.)

Everyone know Florence is a respectable woman, whom will not flame frame others for their actions. She must have saw it coming, and warned us despite of the dangers of fading away from the face of the earth... Ivan, be strong!!!

Do we know for sure the mayor still has Neal's camera? It definitely seems likely, but yesterday, no one could find the camera, so it could be anywhere. It would not surprise me if another Baritone, not trusting the Mayor took the camera.

After the house search, Carter-the retired newspaper editor, crediting himself as quite the investigative reporter in his day, offered to search the briefcases and decipher the leads that Neal had found...but someone had taken the briefcases already. They were nowhere to be found...and neither was Neal's camera...
