The bag is nice and roomy and has a nice scene of the Battle Droid piloting the STAP in the pinkish sky with a random explosion behind him.

The instructions are small and can fold up into the size of a matchbox. There are 10 steps in total (if you don't include the one where you build the BD).

Step 10, the set is completed and the Battle Droid can now fly his STAP  .

Spare Parts:

Only four spare parts. We get a bent Battle Droid arm, A blue cheese slope, a blue stud and a bley T-bar.

Interesting/New Parts:

I've never gotten the dish and blaster cannon in transparent. The other two pieces are not new pieces to me but I've never gotten them in blue.

The Minifigure:

P6210662 by Lord Of The Fries, on Flickr

Just a plain old Battle Droid but with two bent arms this time, so he can grab onto the handlebars.

All The Parts Together:

These are all the parts that come in the set (including the spares).

THE FINAL VERDICT:

Price: 10/10, I got it for free and you can't complain about that  .

Parts: 7/10, Just some average parts but some were new for me.

Minifigure: 6/10, I am trying to build up an army of battle droids so this is a nice addition but it could've came with a blaster.

Design: 8/10, The design is really good but that 1x2 blue tile on the front could've had a criss-cross Separatist's print on it.

Playability: 9/10, Pretty fun to swoosh around  .

TOTAL: 40/50

Pretty nice review.

Personally, I never could see why TLG switched to this design over the one in the '07 Droid BP. This one is just plain oversized on the bottom half. Those wings are ridiculously big.

Great review!

I have to agree with Brickdoctor, though; the battle pack design was far better, this one looks much too bulky.

Price: I got for free in my Sith Nightspeeder set.

IN your SN set? *huh*

Nice review of this little set Lord of the Fries.

I think this is pretty good for what it is and even better if you get it for free! I also have to agree with Brickdoctor on wing size and changing the design in the first place. Although I have a feeling that the droid BP design uses a connection that is now considered to be illegal... 1x1 brick with studs on 4 sides into the side of a technic 1x1 brick. If I'm correct this could explain the re-design (I'm not 100% sure though - does anybody know?).

Hmm...

Since I have 7654 Droids Battle Pack, I took a comparison of the old and new STAPs. The new one is much sleeker than the old one, but I think the old one captures the appropriate size better. That new one just seems too big to me.

Yeah. I got Sith Nightspeeder on ebay from South Korea and when I opened it, it came with the complete SN set,Battle Droid on a Stap and four Lego boxes.
