lightningtiger Posted April 30, 2012 Now if anyone read my last few posts in my other BOC topic (the Aussie designed building) I have been asked by BOC U.K. to design one of their stores of course in Lego. Before they sent images of what they wanted I started on this.....it's a w-i-p and they might also be interested in this once I have finished detailing it. I'll update as soon as I can.....but I will say this what they want built, you've seen nothing yet !
LEGO Guy Bri Posted April 30, 2012 Off to a great start lt! Congrats on them taking so much interest that they have commissioned you to build a store for them! Now if only they would foot the bill for the necessary parts Looking forward to see what they want built, with your personal touch, of this U.K. style store

Now if only they would foot the bill for the necessary parts Looking forward to see what they want built, with your personal touch, of this U.K. style store Thanks, my only problem right now is the actual Tradequip sign - I can't find a logo or the right one in correct colours ! The actual mega-build is a fully decked out showroom 6 times the size of this at least plus a gas bottle bay out the front. I'll update hopefully today. Calv Posted April 30, 2012 The Coventry Tradequip is about 10 miles from my home so I could take some photos of the signage if you want. I've looked on Google streetview, some is there but some is blurred - thanks Google! If you want to find it yourself put Coventry CV1 2BE into google maps and it come up right on the palce you want . Look on Streetview and you should spot it. Good luck - I've enjoyed seeing your MOCs of everyday businesses. Calv
lightningtiger Posted April 30, 2012 Thank you 'Calv' if you could I would be very grateful for those photos.

lightningtiger Posted May 1, 2012 As soon as we get a decent day weather wise I'll go over for you. Lashing down with rain again today though! Calv No problem, I have custom designed signage based on an actual image found on the net.....well I had to use my camera photograph the screen and work the image right. Tomorrow I'll have the signs done, I have made two gas bottle pallets minus bottles though and two angle grinders to go on display. Updating tomorrow. -zenn Posted May 3, 2012 (edited) Nice one! Love the control panel on top. + Just went through a lot on BL, there's tons stuff for your store; axe, crowbar, circular blade saw, chainsaw, hand truck, jack, jackhammer, big mallet, big wrench, paint brush, pickaxe, shovel, pitchfork, sledge hammer, toolbox, wheelbarrow, bucket, sextant (oldschool laser alligning). Is the original store like a normal DIY store or is it more specialised? Edited May 3, 2012 by -zenn

-zenn Posted May 3, 2012 It's a trade gas depot for welders, plumbers, etc.,. And thanks for the comments '-zenn' ! Than you need lots of + = Plungers Just an idea; coils of small/large tubing as for pipes and plumbing.
lightningtiger Posted May 3, 2012 Than you need lots of + = Plungers Just an idea; coils of small/large tubing as for pipes and plumbing. Ah, I guess I should have left it at welding only, no plumbing supplies except for fixing gas lines or fridges/air conditioners. Here found a picture of an even more basic looking Tradequip. But thanks '-zenn' for the plunger idea !
lightningtiger Posted May 3, 2012 It's real hard to find images..... I have to make gas bottles today, updating again later on today (as long as my back doesn't cause me too much trouble.....ouch :cry_sad: ).
kzv Posted May 4, 2012 Nice store... Been following you building development and are wondering when you will post an overview of everything? As far as I remember, you now have lego-towns from Austraila, Denmark, Netherlands and UK?? I'm a conformist!!!! K.
lightningtiger Posted May 4, 2012 (edited) Nice store... Been following you building development and are wondering when you will post an overview of everything? As far as I remember, you now have lego-towns from Austraila, Denmark, Netherlands and UK?? I'm a conformist!!!! K. Thanks 'kzv', but I haven't done any creation from the Netherlands, sadly my Danish stuff has been scrapped because of this project for BOC U.K. (this is only a prototype/test) as it should be a reasonable pay day....cost covering plus my time I hope. Tomorrow I will go and buy the bricks to make the gas bottles.....keep watching. Edit..... Edited May 4, 2012 by lightningtiger
lightningtiger Posted May 5, 2012 I only bump this if I have something fresh to add...... Various large gas bottles now added, I have to wait until Monday night to see if they meet BOC's requirements for gas bottles. Keep on watching !
lightningtiger Posted May 6, 2012 You may be wondering why I call this a prototype, here's a clue....the job I have been asked to do. (I can't give away too much but a big tease photo since it's a paying job) Comment if you wish, Brick On ! (last update for awhile on this MOC)
-zenn Posted May 6, 2012 (edited) Compared to the pic you provided earlier, I think the gasbottles are rather big, a suggestion would be something like this; Welder's Truck by Ricecracker., on Flickr. Edited May 6, 2012 by -zenn
lightningtiger Posted May 6, 2012 Thanks '-zenn' for the feedback, actually I checked the BOC website there are at least ten different size bottles. I agree and will have the narrower bottle shapes in the main design.....dam, I thought I would be the first putting the aerial bases as tops of gas bottles ! Keep those comments flowing just like gas !
lightningtiger Posted May 12, 2012 I thought I might share a tease photo for you on what the prototype building is leading towards. It's just a progress shot, this is 80% of stage 1 of a mega-MOC ordered by the good folks at BOC Gas U.K. updates later tomorrow.
