MOC: A house combining Apple Tree, Hillside and Log Cabin

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, first post! :) This is my first MOC since the Dark Ages so I'd like some general tips and ideas to make a sweet house combining the bricks from the Apple Tree House, Hillside House and the Log Cabin, plus a load of extra white 1x2/3/4/6 and various red roof pieces that I bought from Bricklink. My idea is simply to make a larger house combining them all, and maybe add a shed or a treehouse from the Log Cabin pieces. My first attempt with the main walls and (detached) roof is here, which I'm about to tear down because I'm not happy with various things, but I don't know, it seems alright for a first alpha attempt!

I like the red/reddish brown combo for the roof, but problems I have with it as it is are the sort of wall things in front of where the doors would be, I don't know, they look sort of old fashioned and antiquated, so I think I'd get rid of them. I like the tiles in front of the doorway, they make a pretty sweet pattern. I need another window on the rear wall to centre it. Also having the darker plates on the front sort of create a "lawn", but would they be better suited on the right of the house instead? I'm also going to use corner roof bricks to make the roof extend horizontally out over the doorway too, which I haven't gotten round to. I also think the walls might be a bit too high too.

Any suggestions are welcome and I'll keep the thread updated with Mark II! :)

Welcome to Eurobricks, Xenochria! Why don't you make a thread in the Hello, My Name is... forum so that we can get to know you a little better?

I've changed your image to a link for the time being. If you could resize it to 800x600 or smaller, which is in our site guidelines, that'd be great. :sweet:
