[MOC] 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429

I'd like to share my most recent model - 1:10.5 replica of 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429. Boss 429 was the high performance variant of first generation Mustang, equipped with a powerful 7.0 V8 engine. Only 1359 were made, and now there is one more :D Watch it in all its glory: Functions: RC drive - RWD with differential, 2x L motors RC transmission - 4 speeds, sequential, M motor Detailed V8 engine replica with fan connected directly to propulsion motors RC steering - with moving steering wheel, M motor Front suspension - double wishbone Rear suspension - floating axle Openable hood with lock controlled from the cabin Openable doors with locks Openable trunk Adjustable seats (sliding forward - backward and seatback angle adjustment) RC front lights Please watch the video to see this machine in action and for more details. I am quite happy with how I managed to include all the functions without compromising on proportions and interior in a relatively small model (46cm long). The biggest challenges were to fit piston engine over the suspension with the blue air intake under the hood without lifting it (as the result I had to make the hood hollow below the external air intake but still it was tight) and to fit interior over the gearbox. For that purpose I made the transmission very flat with gear shifting shaft actually crossing the drive shaft... (can be seen in action in the video - 2:30) I hope you liked this model. -

I will be only glad for any feedback I get and really happy if you like my model! The DriverRichard Petty. If you are a bit into classic US muscle cars a bit, I'm sure you already heard this name. Richard Lee Petty also know as "The King" was a NASCAR driver between 1958 and 1992. He won the NASCAR Cup series 7 times while also winning a record 200 races during his career. Richard Petty is known for driving Petty blue cars with the start number 43.The CarOn February 14th, 1971 Petty won his third Daytona 500, driving a back then brand new Plymouth Road Runner. A car from the second gen of the B-bodies, the "fuselage" design also featuring a 425 hp HEMI.The RecreationMy model recreates a car he raced one of his races in the 1971 season, unfortunately, I couldn't find out in which race he used this car. it is based on a restorated version I found here. The most annoing thing about building this model was doing all the prints/stickers for it. Some of them I found in the internet, some of them I had to do on my own. Setting them all up needed a long time! Unfortionately the printed parts didn't showed up in Blender, the rendering platform I use. That's why my friend Alexey (w35wvi) readded all the stickers in Mecabricks (which doesn't work properly on my computer) and then rendered these amazing pictures for me. Building muscle car. Need help.

I am building a new car, in style of musclecar from 60's: long and quadrat. I want that car to be agressive and brutal. There are some variants of the front grille and lights, but cant make best decision. Please help me to choose the best. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Or may be quadrat lights (right side)? If it is possible, someone make a POLL here. I dont have such rights yet... Thank you. -
MOC #64 Ford Mustang GT500CR Classic video is published now. I designed this Mustang when #10265 coming out, but I didn't satisfy some detail of it. So I put it aside and work on other projects instead. Finally, I picked it up again to complete it. I also expanded my virtual Lego city. You can see what I added in the video :D

[TC18] Miniature Muscle car

I wanted to make a small scale supercar model in the same scale as the Corvette. The TC18 was a perfect excuse to make a model with the following functions: 4 speed gearbox full working suspension a fake V8 engine working steering wheel openable doors Here is what I managed to create in LDD, inspired by the set 42111. I wanted to style the car like a 70's muscle car, so the fenders are brick-built to get the sharp lines needed. The final car is 40 studs long and 15 studs wide (excluding the mirrors). All of the described functions are implemented, the car is currently made out of around 900 pieces. I will post the WIP pics of the real build as soon as I start it. -

Hello everybody! A long time ago I got my 41999 and decided to turn the hull back to the car that it was initially - a classic American muscle car. Initially it was just the same car with a lower chassis, but I preferred to make it more authentic and more detailed MOD (and a bit MOC  ) saving as much as possible original solutions and parts. There were a lot of speculations of the exact model (41999-question), but I like Dodge Charger R/T 2nd generation ('68-70), so it's the final target and magic has been started... First of all, I started with modifications of 41999 Crawler. It's a great model and I was just happy to see how Egor turned the car shapes into the curved panels, but Boss Crawler was too high, so lowered the chassis by 4 studs (removing the bottom section with Servo and two 5x7 frames), added a front axle with an independent suspension and a rear live axle. Both of them uses a shorter shock absorbers, meanwhile the front axles has a torsion suspension in the real live. I've made a draft of it and will add to the model some later... So, the result is following: v1. The chassis. Muscle Car 41999 MOC v1 Chassis.lxf v1. A road version. Muscle Car 41999 MOC v1 Road.lxf I's a default hull with some minor visual modifications, mounted on a lower chassis. However it's still too high, in my opinion. v1. An off-road version. Muscle Car 41999 MOC v1 Offroad.lxf I liked @efferman's Station Wagon and @NOS_Dylan's modification, that better meets a lower chassis. v2. A major modification. And finally the better version that I've made so far: even more lower than version 1, wider by 2L and now has a Big Block - fake V8 engine. To be continued... -
[HELP] Vintage Muscle Car Body for Crawler

Hello guys, i'm new to the forum and this is my first post. I suppose this is an unusual thing to post here, but please bear with me.My 4-year old son (big LEGO fan since age of 3, when i started to give him my (by now vintage! :D) childhood LEGO sets) will soon turn 5. He has become good at building and he follows instructions effortlessly, even on a Technic set, which he recently got. I want to make him a very special present and i do not want to just buy yet another LEGO or Technic set - i want it to be one of a kind. Also, at his age an RC car would be a great present and even better if it's LEGO Technic. So the 4x4 crawler would be great, even better would be the 41999 - it's just cooler than the stock model and my son likes it better too. But it would be just another "off the shelf" present. I got inspired by the 41999 set - a different chassis on the 9398 Crawler - and downloaded Lego Digital Designer to experiment around. About me - i'm 30, i have built lots of stuff with LEGO as a child, and now and then i build something together with my son, but i have never owned a Technic set and my only experience with Technic is when i looked how my son assembled a Technic bike set. Also, i have never ever before used LDD. So it's 3 new things for me - eurobricks, Technic and LDD. Anyway, to cut the long story short, i put tons of time into this and i was initially only aiming to see how far i can get on my own in regard to the exterior, the visuals, by doing things that should be possible in real world, but without building the proper structure underneath the exterior. I got surprizingly far, although there are many issues that need to be ironed out on the exterior too (especially the top - i wanted it to be angled, but didn't manage to do it properly. On the other hand, i really like the looks of the model altogether, but i will never be able to design a proper structure that holds the chassis and that holds steering mechanisms, motors, etc. Also, i won't be able to do any design of the mechanics themselves - i've never held a Technic gear in my hand and this structural design is just too advanced for what i can pull off (and i won't have so much time to learn all that stuff til my sons birthday). For someone like me without any experience with this, it is very time consuming to find all the proper parts that might come in handy - that's the biggest handycap as i realised soon - not knowing by heart, what parts could solve a certain problem - that's especially the case with converters, angles, joints and their various types, etc. LEGO has canceled the designed by me service, which might have been another option where to find help. Hence i really hope for your help guys. I was thinking that i could provide the LDD file with the chassis, which i hope can inspire others and, please, feel free to borrow stuff. But i would be really grateful, if someone who is good at building, could come up with the underlying structure that would be needed for this chassis to play nicely with a stock Crawler set. I suppose not all of the exterior design elements will be possible to be implemented the way as it looks now, but i would be glad if the front and back could remain as close to what they look now. If anyone finds the time and interest to help out - you have my gratitude, as i would be stoked, if it would work out and i could give my son such a wonderful and unique present. About the build itself. I think i will call it "69 restomod". I wasn't aiming for a particular muscle car, but i was rather trying to figure out what can be done with the parts that lego offers for this scale, which would be not too big or small for radio control and PF functions. I was mostly inspired by 68 firebird, 68 mustang gt500, 69 dodge challenger - these are elements that hopefully can be recognized in the build. I've attached a couple of pictures and the LDD file in the hope that this might pick up some interest. Any advice or comments would be very welcome. Thus the following aspects were changed: width reduced from 7w+ to 6w+ lower roof line (back of the fig must be slanted, but it works) exhausts are situated more under the body than before tanks dark grey instead of red some minor changes #2 Ford Mustang (classic version) 6w+. Fits one whole minifig (two are quite difficult with this setup). #3 Ford Mustang Fastback A sportier version. #4 Dodge Charger The Charger is based on derjoe's amazing design which is very well known (see www.flickr.com/photos/53163759@N04/8554110987), but with quite a few modifications. The main point here is that "behind-the-tile design" which allows some unusual slopes - a concept to be further developed, I guess. 6.8w (6w plus two tiles), fits one fig (two are quite difficult with this setting, something to improve). Fresh of the press, a red and black (that's what R&B in the title stands for, sorry about any confusion ) muscle car. Once again, I started simply trying out my idea with those air intakes under the headlights, but ended up building a whole car: I don't have a separate .lxf for it because it is in another file along with a bunch of other city cars, which I've posted here quite some time ago Update: I've finally figured out how to make 3D renders, so here's the rendered image of the updated model. It has a slightly different hood and a shorter rear end, which, in my opinion, made it look better:

This is my second entry for Lego Technic Challenge. Foreword After posting first entry I understand that it is too simple for challenge. Theme of "pickup" is not enough attractive, because there many pickup sets from TLG (original 9398 also). After analyzing already posted entries I have made conclusion that most popular creations are based on next body types: pickup offroader, wagon offroader. Both types are usually big and heavy. Since the 9398 chassis has high center of gravity, making high body will decrease stability of final product. Original 9398 set is not based on body of offroader, but on body of light pickup (also called Ute). No matter how cool entry looks, if it is higher than original set body - it will be unstable at obstacles. Almost all entries (that are based on 9398 chassis and satisfies all challenge rules) are heavy and UNSTABLE, thats true (I remember only Efferman`s test videos of challenge entries). Many LDD designed entries never tested. I am really wanted to build big offroader, but it was not easy to make it stable. After analyzing of "what is popular?" I found that Muscle cars are very popular now: many old model names was revived last 10 years (camaro, mustang, challenger, charger). Building modern muscle on crawler chassis meet 2 problems in my mind: 1) modern muscle with lifted suspension and big ballon tires looks ugly 2) building modern muscle needs using of flex axles and other techniques to create rounded shapes. Final product will be not strong enough (body) After that I found many pictures of lifted classic muscle cars of 50-70's. there are many "squared" model of 50-60's that are easy to create strong (no flex axles) In other hand: TLG have never offered us something like this, only modern supercars. Lets move to my entry. The BOSS As I said, this is classic car with squared shapes. It is strong, even while rolling on roof. Roof is powered inside the saloon to be strong. Body is 2 door 4 seater coupe with long bonnet and trunk. Original shape of door was inspired by some real models. Flat lines are boring, i needed some complex lines. In my mind this car is powered by big block v8. So I applied a self-made sticker "v8" to side panels.4 Exhaust pipes are on the side of the car (2 for each side). Side placing of pipes is better for such type of car: crawler can damage front and rear overhangs while driving big-angled obstacles. Pipes are metallic gray. Hope TLG made them chromed:) There is a little spoiler at the back. Such type of spoilers was standard thing on some cars of that time. Doors are opening and locking. There is no way for them to open while driving obstacles and rolling. Trunk door can be opened, but there is no bottom at the trunk (but possible). "Opening trunk" is needed for free body lifting: back is long, and rotating point is in the trunk, so lifting body with closed trunk is impossible. Bumpers of the car are classic style gray. Hope TLG will make them metallic or chromed. Car includes some additional equipment: 1) front bar 2) front winch. Winch is hided under the bonnet after front grille. It is compact and powerful. Winch is motorized by medium PF motor. It is powerful enough to lift car in the air. Motor is powered by additional IR receiver 3) roof bar with 4 additional lights 4) LED lamps at front lights. Powered from second channel of additional IR receiver. Unfortunately I dont have enough other than black details. My entry is black with yellow stripes. But I wish TLG to make BLUE with WHITE stripes or WHITE with BLUE stripes, ORANGE with BLACK stripes. First variant is preferable. So we can receive many blue panels, liftarms and connectors. White is also good, but a) looks GLAMOUR, b) coming in 2013 grand prix racer will give us many white details... My next wish is: bigger and wider balloon tires. Power pullers are the best (they give 9398 chassis phenomenal stability) but we need something with the same size and lighter weight (to prevent transmission from overload) I need 1-2 days for posting video.
