    AoM: Kervid's Mill

Mill "Mitgardia's farmers feed the guild. They are up before dawn and work till well after sunset. They face any number of challenges they can't control, from too much rain to not enough, from diesease to insect infestations." This will be integrated in a larger layout i'm working on. The mill is my entry to Age of Mitgardia - the mill category.
  3. by Dathil, on Flickr LEADERS AND PROMINENT PEOPLE OF VETA, VOL. I THE TRADE IMPERIUM OF PHENIAS Phenias is built upon the islands in the Inner Sea. The main islands, Phenias, is home to the Volca, a large fortress built in a vulcano. The city expanded bigger than the island could sustain, and thus they started to build upon the water. The Pheniasi are the wealthiest faction around and dominate the free market throughout most of the continent. Their Quaestors, the tax officers, travel from market to market to collect their comissions. In return, the magistrate offers complete naval protection to everyone in the treaty. There are those, however, who suspect they might also be the ones "creating the needs of protection" theirselves, by investing their money wisely. Jovani Meci is the current magistrate of Phenias. Under his rule, the Pheniasi trade imperium has expanded vastly and has become real powerfull. He was born for this position, being a member of the wealthy Meci family, and having great economic insights. He proudly carries the Sextant Staff, a reminder of the seafaring origens of their family. However, there are those who say he has started questionable business inside the Volca, yet these sources have brought none evidence at all, and thus are these rumours not regarded as important by the Oraca. The diligent Quaestors of Phenias are often an unwelcome sight for the lords of the towns they visit. They wear the purple robes and stereotypical hat of Phenias, and have a status of immunity throughout every civilized country. They carry their sword mostly because of their noble ancestry. THE KINGDOM OF FRIKK The lands of Fríkk are inhibited by a tall and fair people, with probably some Elven blood in their pedigree. They have grown resilient against the colds and live in this lands, organizing raids, praying to their cruel gods called the Trissa, and hunting on the many kinds of prey that adapted to the cold climate. Gustolph Rekks is the current king of Frikk. In whole Veta, he is known as 'the Lion of the North', because of his sigil, the Lion. Under his reign, the country prospers. As much as the people respect his prowess in battle, they respect his wisdom. The king has some deep interests for arts and music as well, which is quite uncommon for the people in Frikk. Karl is the son of Gustolph and thus the heir to Frikk. While he is just 15 years old, he is known to be quite impatient when it comes to waiting to succeed his father. Even though he is that young, he has lead many military expeditions to success already. Karl is very religious and believes he was born to rule. THE WESTERLANDS The main power in Veta is the Imperium, currently ruled by empress Nemayra. the Imperium, Ihlrion, is divided in multiple regions, each of them gouverned by a noble family. The house of Glainthes is such a family. They control the Westerlands, on the border with the icy lands of Fríkk. Josua Glainthes is the leader of house Glainthes. After the death of his wife, he picked up his old drinking habit. Many fear that this could lead to unwanted situations, as he tends to become aggressive because of all the cider. Rachel is the oldest daughter of Josua Glainthes. Though almost as fair as her younger sister, she is not the fighter Becca is. She is a diplomat, and has read every book in her father's library. Some say she is not too happy with her younger brother standing higher in the line of succession. Becca Glainthes, the Succubus, is the second daughter of Josua Glainthes. Many call her the most beautiful woman in the country, and she is still single. However, she will only wed a man who defeats her in single combat, and many contenders have found out she is the deadliest woman in the country as well. Jona is the third child and eldest son of Josua Glainthes, and thus the heir of the house. He is a famous duelist, and his riding ability is matched by very few. Armed with his trumpet and his bow, there are little surprises that can reach the people under his protection. Robb is the most renowned cider farmer in the country. His farm, called Bunnock's Barn, stands under the protection of house Glainthes. KRYTTAN On the swampy peninsula in the north-east, the Krytt live. The Krytt look most like a cross between humans and goblins, but they are highly civilized and are no less than their human neighbours. Which does, of course, not take away that no one should try to meet them in battle... Rytan is a major Kryttan warchief. Because of him talking more with his maul than with his mouth, he has brought the Kryttan diplomacy to some dangerous levels. THE TRISSA The Trissa is the pantheon of gods worshipped by the people of Frikk. Their shrines can be found in every country throughout the continent however The most prayed-to god of the Trissa. Most prayers are meant for the enemies of the persons praying, asking for the blade of his halbard to aid their conflict. 'getting the Halberd' is a common phrase, used as euphanism of dieing. The goddess of protection has statues in many walled towns and settlements, and in every guardhouse there is a shrine to her. When praying to her, they belief nothing can happen to them. The Inquisitor is maybe even more feared than Death himself. He is believed to haunt the unfaithful and torture them while they keep living, a fate worse than getting the Halberd. MISCELLANEOUS Underneath the lands of Fríkk are the Fields of Despair. This once was the home of a mighty Elvish civilization. However, as not uncommon by elves, Hybris was their downfall as one of their ancient kings, dubbed "the purifier" intended to rid the continent of anything not-Elvish. This was the start of a series of wars, which ultimately led to a near-complete destruction of the Elves in Veta. There are still some remaining settlements, of which the inhabitants are called "Scavengers". Athon Darkeye is the leader of an Elven Scavenger tribe. His name is respected throughout the complete Fields of Despair. Garonn is a Free Sword, traversing the whole continent. 'The Eagle' is the origin for stories in many an inn. Orna is the kindest woman one will ever meet, but for sure also one of the strongest. Defying old traditions, she has become the very first female smith, yet she is one of the best in her profession. 4. Thulgard by David de Rijke, on Flickr Few of the ships of the once so mighty Mitgardian expedition survived their voyage, but the brave survivors joined up and found land! On the vast continent of Vela, yet unknown to Historica, they founded their new home, Thulgard. As the wood of the ships was used for pallissades and watch towers, the crews went out to forage and build some structures to survive the incoming winter. They did not go unnoticed, however... Their new settlement of Thulgard seemed to be placed in the domain of the Empire, and some imperial officers already stood at the gates to reclaim it, diplomatically. Not a single change however that Mitgardian captain Amkyr will let that happen! Thulgard lays in the Westerlands, the -obviously- western region of the Empire, ruled by the house of Glainthes, who have their seat near Bunnock's Barn, half a day's march away. Bunnock manor by David de Rijke, on Flickr Thulgard might be my most detailed build at this scale. At least it has the best rockwork I have ever produced :p The mountain had been under construction for, like, a year, so I am kind of glad that I am done, for now I sorted out my lego, I can't wait to build much and much more! Alas I kind of forgot I am studying abroad now for some weeks, so I had to hurry with the photography before I left. I might wanna make better pictures when I am back!
  5. While the city of Falconstone keeps expanding, the training camp in the nearby Ginnon Valley is also under constant development. An archery range has been put up, from which archers and axe throwers can practice hurling their projectiles at targets placed before a wall of straw bales
  6. Hi guys, after doing a large build for the SJ17 I did not have much motivation for a new large project immediatly. Then I remembered how I have many uncompleted Age of Mitgardia builds left to do :P Here is my take on the tower phase one! My first focus was on the rockwork, and when I started the tower I had no idea where it was going, but im quite pleased with the result.
  7. Previously: A: The Bull's Eye B: River encounter C: The Siege of Falconstone Now Davok has finished his whole story, the Mitgardian commanders that gathered in the armory on Glorfindel's command, also joined, together with the Falcon spy that handed Davok to the council. Sir Glorfindel spoke first. "So, this is how the king died, and you are a convict in this. but how is this so important for this moment, for you know as good as we do that we have to muster our forces as soon as we are allowed to." "Its that mage, milord. I didnt know his name at that time, but I DO know the name now. And it matches all together milord, the description, the timing, everything." "Could you please tell me the name, because we are quite in a hurry, im afraid!" "Raavage sir. The mage who killed the king, who hired us. It was lord Raavage." Now, every attendant started to talk at once. "SILENCE!" The voice of sir Glorfindel rose firmly above the others, without any need to shout. "Thank you milady", Glorfindel smiled, as he turned his head to the girl in the falcon tunic. "It seems you have delivered us a spire rebel!" Nemayra, the spy, made a little bow. "Alas I was not in time to get reinforcements, all I could do was warning our city..." "So, what to do with this man? How about we execute him and..." "SIR!", Davok tried to say another thing. "Milord this was not all! I could not prevent the death of the king, but I saw something, and gave my commanders orders to distract the view of the mages. During the aftermath of the battle, someone tried to escape from the city. It was a woman, her clothes told us she was with the king before. Milord, she.., she..." Davok had gotten their full attention now. "she carried a baby. She made it out, we covered her. The baby was carried away." Now Nemayra's eyes lit up. "She made it? But milord, that was the Queen's nurse, with the heir! I know where they were heading for!", and she whispered something to Glorfindel, a bit affraid of the other attendants. Immediatly Sir Glorfindel made up its mind. "Athron! you will lead the army. Layra, you and the Guard will go on a task force to Kaliphlin. We have a chance to unite. To unite all of Historica, once more. "Davok, you will join command of this taskforce to proof yourself. You might have done treacherous things, fact is, you successfully laid siege to one of the Plain's greatest cities. We need every good commander we can get. You can take a select few of your best men as well. Nemayra, you will lead their way." Both women now protested. Layra: "You want me to share command with this suspect of High Treason? Milord!" From the side of Nemayra, there were some words about having an enemy amidst them, as well. But Glorfindel gave one last command. "Mitthral! Send word to the Dragon Masters in Avalonia. The heir has been found!" l to r: Davok (my sigfig), Sir Glorfindel (SoccerKid), Colonel Athron, General Layra, Captain Mitthral, a Mitgardian infantrist in standard outfit, and Falcon-scout Nemayra I got myself some green/yellow minifig arms and oh I love them! :)
  8. After the recent events in Beggar's Inn, as many messengers as possible had been dispatched, to every corner of the guilds. One messenger, going near the Frozen Beyond to inform the small outposts there for the peril of the coalition of the Algus and the Spire, was not that smart. Not being a native Mitgardian, he grew very cold, and thus he made a fire, out in the open. From a nearby Algus outpost, a Can'gru Chariot was dispatched quickly. Those strong but quick beasts had been cultivated by the Algus long ago, and were used nowadays not only for meat, but also as mounts and beasts of burden. the Can'gru, even though they look so herbivorelikely cute, always hunger for fresh meat. The poor messenger is their incentive to bring their Algus masters to their superiors, to hand them the message. Algus interception by David de Rijke, on Flickr

    Bull's Eye (Prelude)

Davok: "Long before the rise of Raavage, in the days after Revolword's defeat, a messenger arrived at the Bull's Eye, in these days not more than a mere outpost for our compagny" Bull's Eye by David de Rijke, on Flickr "The messenger, no one remembers anything of what he looked like, demanded to speak with the present highest in rank, which happend to be the Bull's second in command, me. It appeared to be confidential, so we sat together in the higher room of the tower" Bull's Eye by David de Rijke, on Flickr "To make a long story short: Some high guy wanted to hire us. The messenger seemed to say 'Victor' at a given point, but stopped abrupt and looked scared for a moment. Well, to the point. Our mission: Falconstone to the south gave hospitality to a stranger that was brought there under heavy escort. They seem to not know the danger of this man. Our client told us how this man has escaped the sack of the Dark Wizard's, and that he is a dangerous wizard himself. Those falcons wouldn't believe us, I can tell in advance. They never have been keen to see logic... We have to siege Falconstone, and kill this man. The reward? Bigger than you can ever dream off." Bull's Eye by David de Rijke, on Flickr Bull's Eye by David de Rijke, on Flickr (Here we go... A long way to go, and the story is already paving its path in my mind. Where this will end, I don't know :D) (This is a quite old build, and I have great news: got a new camera and new adjustments to my room that will be used for my next build :D) (The guy with the kanjiclub torso is the younger version of my sigfig, Davok ^^) (oh my god... while trying to play with revolword's name, I discovered its origin ONLY NOW... quite a slow catch)

    First snow

First snow (1) by David de Rijke, on Flickr and a (poorly) edited version, just to try it out :) patrol4 by David de Rijke, on Flickr First snow (2) by David de Rijke, on Flickr First snow (3) by David de Rijke, on Flickr For this one, I wanted to try to make a smooth snowscape. I added the footprints by having a few studs, I think it turned out fine. The fence is a last-minute addition, as I was buying stuff for sinterklaas when I saw black thread, so I bought that. Alas I do not have any kind of photo editing program left on my laptop, yet with the camera of my 'new' used phone I think I did better than before concerning photography :P Also I found some tricks to enhance the lighting in my room.
  11. I had a stroke of bad luck with my camera: the cable for uploading the pictures has disappeared, and the new one I ordered did not arrive yet, and won't arrive before the deadline of the challenge. Meanwhile the main camera of my phone is also broken, so these pictures are made, yes really, with my front camera :P Ccl_Cl "Gentlemen!", said the Warden of Falconstone. "We are here together because sir uh..i-forgot-his-name has requested our help." Ccl_Op "Spyrus it is. Lord Spyrus!", replied the pale man in black clothes, from the other side of the table. "Never mind. He requests our aid to assist his master claiming his rightful title. Therefore he asks us to send a war party across the Rakath mountains, to meet up with a force of his own men." *the Warden points at the Map" "Here are our forces. There is a compagny of Lord Davok's men, those darned Bulls. And there is a regiment of our guild's main army." One of the Councillors, Sir Thornn responded. "Milord, I do see a resistance flag, don't I?" Sir Yuhda, the man right across the Warden, responded. "No, this force has been taken care of. They had been raiding our lands so we took them out." Spyrus: "Can you prove this? This is new information to my master." Sir Yvern, the Stag, sitting on the other side of Yuhda, sighed. "As far as I know, the Bulls had still sighted some of those orckind beings in our mountains the other day" Yuhda: "Oh, you and that Bull-sympathizing of yours... Since when do we believe the word of Bulls?" The Councillor that did not speak yet, now came to Yuhda's aid. "I would trust the word of Yuhda over that of a Bull, anytime. However, I don't think we should go, we would weaken ourselves too much." The Warden put another flag on the table. "A small warband would be good enough. Not everyone has to go. Yet I want someone I trust to go with them. Yuhda? Yuhda: "No, milord. I have other business to be done... yet how about you ask our doe to bring some of his Bull friends?" "Don't call me like that!", Yvern replied angrily. "Yet I can indeed ask Davok to join us, with a group of his men." "Allright then. Thornn, you will represent the Falconstone Council on this journey. Ccl_FB This build was fun! I haven't really done much interior building before. I am pretty happy with the result: I had other plans for the chairs, but I noticed I didnt have ample parts for it, yet this technique turned out well enough, for me. I'm just not happy about the banner connections to the pole, this is mainly because most of my LEGO is in a large cardboard moving box, so finding those spare parts was a huge pain, and I already had to hurry a bit :( I have been quite ill most of the week, so when I was back on my feet again the deadline came a lot closer. Tomorrow I am leaving to Swiss to perform on stage with my band, so I need to upload it now :P The sequal to this, my challenge build, will be uploaded tonight or tomorrow morning :D

    AoM: Gate phase 3

My phase 3 for the Gate category of AoM. I hope this is sufficient for the title :D I had fun making this, because I did not plan anything, and just looked how it would turn out. The building has some interiors, but the bad part of not planning, is that I couldn't really make pictures of the inside :P Im quite happy with how it turned out, especially with the stonework. I need to work on the roofing though, yet thanks for the guide SK :P I spent most of my salary on lego this month, but maybe I should go for a suitable camera one time. One way, I feel the money used for a camera could have been spent for bricks, but the pictures will probably improve a lot :) Usually I edit the photos with photoshop, but due to me quitting my studies, I do not have the license to use it anymore. Im starting an IT study this year, so I might get the licenses at discount :D Gatehouse phase 3, AoM by David de Rijke, on Flickr

    AoM: Wall phase 1

So here is the first of some incoming builds. I wanted to create a wooden wall without pallisade bricks, I think I succeeded. (Quite partsconsuming though :) ) This was the first time I ever touched those 3-leave plants, I just ordered them and never had them before, so I had to try how to work with them. (apparently they are much more flexible than I imagined) The trumpet is gonna pop up a lot, I play it myself so I love that brick. It is also my first real shot on an irregular base, I think it turned out fine, but it could have been much smoother. I actually want to create my own settlement, im working on a story for it right now, this will be included too. (I know, the 4 categories for a hamlet all need to be fullfilled, lots of work to do :D) Wall0-2 by David de Rijke, on Flickr Wall0-1 by David de Rijke, on Flickr Wall0-3 by David de Rijke, on Flickr Wall0-4 by David de Rijke, on Flickr Wall0-5 by David de Rijke, on Flickr (and this is where I use yellow rounds for)
  14. So I finally made an AoM entry :P (I have around 10 builds in LDD though, yet I only want to submit real ones :P) Neymara and her brother Marik love brewing beer. One day, some friends told them to sell it on the road, as they thought it was very good. They set up a stand along a mayor road, over which many Mitgardian patrol units passed. And who is a better customer than a thirsty warrior? They sell so much these days, that Marik is continuously getting more with his ox, Byrt. I wanted to try multiple things in this build, it is basically the first time I made trans-clear water, I made everything tiled off, including the rocks that are far more detailed than I'm used to, also the construction of the stand, the autumn tree, and the road. I wondered if anyone has ever built a road this way, I pretty much like it myself! (these are 92 1x2 slopes). The tree was hell, I can't touch it: most of the leaves are not connected to anything. Also I think the dragon knights of Kingdoms are the perfect Midgardian soldiers: two shades of green on the torso, and two shades of yellow on the shield. I am happy with this build for it is by far my best detailed build ever, yet I can improve so much more. So please critizise and say what you would have done different (the light bley 1x1 tiles are a mistake on bricklink, should have been dark XD)

    Storage cave

After a long days work, the farmer brings his harvest to his storage. A small build on my day off, I know it is LDD again, but I ensure you I have a nice wip in real lego :P I just only have access to my lego in the weekends, so in the meanwhile I use LDD. More pictures:
