  1. "It was a Monday, a day like any other day. I left a small town for the apple in decay. It was my destiny, It's what I needed to do. They were telling me, I'm telling you. I was inside looking outside, the millions of faces, but still I'm alone. Waiting, hours of waiting, paying a penance - I was longing for home." - Foreigner and their song 'Long, long way from home' (or at least a portion of the song) This seedy, rundown looking building is a heavily modified version of half of the 2015 set 10246 (Detective Office) from the modular building line. I removed the blue barber shop building and cookie-smuggling play features, and added an exterior staircase. I also added a billboard on the opposite wall taken from the Brick Tales pop-up book's cover, plus a new, simpler water tank on the roof. Then, just for the heck of it, I decided to take my de-modularized detective office and modularize it with a removable baseplate. Why, you ask? Because I just wanted to make it usable at Gateway LUG shows since we use modular buildings, but at home I don't use modular buildings. I realized I couldn't put it on a straightaway like the original 10246 set, as there is a billboard I placed on one side that makes this impossible. Thus I put it on a corner... but wait - it's too small for a corner module! So, I decided to build in a wooden fence for the one side where the billboard is, to bring it in line with other modular buildings. I added a gate for access to the pool hall's back door, and placed a tile footing to keep the building removable from the baseplate. Naturally, this made it impossible to put in the connecting pin holes, but they are rarely used anyway so I felt confident it doesn't matter if I left them out. As you can see, the original medium nougat is changed to sand green, and the dark green awnings are now old printed slopes from the 1990's, the red POOL neon sign is now printed round tiles, among MANY other things that were changed around. The upper floor features the quite messy detective's office. Papers everywhere, a hat stand, desk fan, quite a few places to store case info and a telephone. By comparison, the pool hall is pretty sparsely decorated, with a trophy on a stand, darts / dart board, pool cues, and billiard table. Oh yeah, there is a picture on the wall too. The modular, removable base without the building attached. Be sure to mind the guard dog! For it's entire production run of fifteen million vehicles, made from 1908 to 1927, the Model T by Ford came in any color you wanted... as long as it was black. This particular Tin Lizzie's body was inspired by Calin's MOC over on Flickr. It's supposed to be based on the 1923 model year and the Detective figure fits in the drivers seat. The rear of the car with the spare tire. (I just love how Calin used the window frames mounted horizontally for the drivers cabin... it's so ingenious!) EDIT 2/4/24: I even wrote a small story about my detective, who now has the CMF Noir Detective outfit, but the same IJ hat / hair as before. "...'It's over Joe! Turn yourself in!' I screamed into the desolate train yard. Of course, no response. He knew what awaited him back at the penitentiary - the electric chair was a sweet release compared to the desolate inhuman solitude of permanent solitary confinement that awaited him. Suddenly, a movement to my right caught my eye - it was Joe, running away at full speed, bounding over switch handles and jumping rails like a scared jackrabbit in the darkness of the witching hour. I hopped in my Model T to catch up with him at full tilt, almost tearing out my suspension in the process. I grumbled to myself about sending the Feds a bill for car repairs, when I heard a lonesome wail of a steam whistle. 'So THAT'S his game!' I said to no one in particular. 'He's gonna hop a freight!' I headed for the sound, when into my headlights came a sight I'll never forget. Jailbreak Joe came to a skidding halt, trying to get close enough to the engine to hop on the front deck of the loco as it sped past. Only problem was he hit an oil patch, invisible in the darkness. He went tumbling into the path of the loco, knocking himself out in the process by hitting his head of a rail. I tried to pull him clear while the train went into emergency, whistle shrieking like a banshee all the while. Simply put, I was too late to save Joe..." Thoughts, comments, questions, and complaints welcome!

  4. DISCUSSION TOPIC (THIS IS NOT THE HALL OF FAME!) Welcome to the Technic Hall of Fame Discussion topic. Recently, we have created the Technic Hall of Fame! The Hall of Fame is used to eternalize some of the amazing MOCs created by our very own respected Eurobricks members. Criteria When will a MOC be added to the Hall of Fame? Frontpaged MOCs will be added to the Hall of Fame Contest winners Possibly some older iconic MOCs When it fits the "Could this be sitting on Blakbirds shelf?!" criterium MOC needs to have it's own Eurobricks topic MOC should have it's own Eurobricks topic submitted by the builder of the MOC MOC needs to be Technic, Model Team or Mindstorms Jury Who decides which MOCs fit the bill? Models will be elected by Technic staff members and some gifted builders (whose identities will remain unknown), known as the Chosen Ones Suggestions can be posted in this topic, but ultimately the jury decides Update frequency When will the Hall of Fame be updated? There's no fixed time frame It can take a while between updates (adding entries) How New Entries Are Added The editor will first make place holders, he adds new entry's in one big clump (when time is available). The editor prepares the new entry's in advance on a secrete part of the forum. You will be (or should be) aware that the forum has a time limit that needs to be reached in order to make a separate reply and not to merge with a existing reply if it is the same forum member , this means that each new entry gets post separate reply. This also allows the editor to link to that reply directly. Guidelines I know these guidelines might sound a bit harsh or unfriendly, but I hope you'll understand that they are necessary, in order to make this work for everyone, and for staff members in particular. So please refrain from: Sending suggestions via PM to staff members (we read the forum too, we'll see great MOCs) Elaborate debate with staff members (I like this one better than that one, so why is it not in the Hall of Fame?) Asking questions like "when will this MOC be added?" Asking questions like "why hasn't this MOC been added?" Suggesting of hundreds of old great MOCs So am I even allowed to do something in this discussion topic?! Of course you are! Have a civilized discussion with other members (and staff) Suggest MOCs for the Hall of Fame. Post ideas and suggestions about the Hall of Fame setup Hopefully we will have a great Hall of Fame for the years to come! NOTE When posting suggestions.... PLEASE ADD AN IMAGE AND LINK TO EB TOPIC TO YOUR POST!!

    Bad News At Olav's Hall

previously When he returned home, Eoin was greeted by a worried looking man who said he was sent by Jarl Olav of Nordhiem. The man also told him that he was expected there for a meeting in two days. So two days later Eoin was on the doorstep of Jarl Olav's hall, when he saw a familiar face. It was his friend and fellow Karl, Douglas! So after their reunion, the two went inside for a very long and boring meeting about everything from this years harvest to the troublesome Orcs and greedy Dwarves. Jarl Olav tended to yell a lot so by the end all the Karl's ears were sore, and none were brave enough to cover their ears for fear of offending him! So Eoin was very worried when he was yelled his new assignment. "YOU HAVEN'T BEEN DOING YOUR DUTIES! NOT A SINGLE PATROL IN A WEEK?! INSTEAD GALAVANTING OFF ON SOME ADVENTURE?! I'M MOVING YOUR ASSIGNMENT TO FORT CANDER" So there it was, he was now Karl of the wooden fort Cander. The assignment was to secure the area and make peace with the local Dwarves and Orcs (hopefully) then develop the wooden fort Cander. C&C Welcome!
  6. Eurobricks Technic Hall of Fame This topic contains special MOCs worthy enough to be eternalized in the annals of Eurobricks. When you are in doubt whether a MOC is eligible for the Hall of Fame, ask yourself this: "Could this be sitting on Blakbird's shelf?" If the answer is Yes, you might find it here Check out the Technic Hall of Fame Discussion topic for more information and discussion! Hogwarts Castle

Hi everyone, The last months I have been busy. For the next Legoworld in the Netherlands we (me and my brother) want to show a large landscape with various locations and scenes of the Harry Potter series. I have created a castle a little bit based on books and/or films, but this is my version of the Hogwarts castle. In the castle there are various rooms and classrooms. The stairs in the staircase can move and are powered by Power Functions. Here is an overview of the castle. Here is a picture of the entrance and the big hall. Underneath the entrance are the living rooms of Slytherin and under the big hall is the magic potions classroom. Here is a picture of the entire staircase. For more pictures you can look into my Flickr album. Flickr album of Bricks and Trains The Flickr album shows more pictures of the event, where my castle was present. Feedback, comments and questions are welcome. Sander
  8. House Stonmer of Lenfald - Noble Houses of Roawia House Stonmer is one of the younger houses of Roawia. The Lords of Stonmer moved their estate from Loreos to Lenfald only a few generations ago. While their loyalty to Lenfald is not in question, they still keep with the traditions of their former home province: their house colours are read and gold their emblem is the Loreesi gilded falcon. Their current seat is at Stonmer Manor, in Northern Lenfald only a few miles from the border to Garheim. The Lords of Stonmer only rule over 4 villages and their small estate, but trade with Garheim made them relatively rich and important nonetheless: the regions is rich in fish and is mostly forested, with wood being their major export products. Hogwarts entrance hall

Hi everyone, While everyone is waiting for potential new Lego Harry Potter sets, I've been building something. I got inspired by playing the older Harry Potter video games on my PC, so I decided to build the Hogwarts entrance hall with my own twist on it. I hope you all like. See more on my Flickr page: https://www.flickr.com/photos/58775895@N08/albums/72157686166757211/with/37174700496/

    [MOC] Four-Towered Castle

After finishing it and creating minifigures I uploaded it to LEGO Ideas which you can find here: Four-Towered Castle It contains some extra information such as piece counts. Feel free to leave a support on the LEGO Ideas site if you like it. 3D Model view here on Sketchfab: Four-Towered Castle The Full Inside view. Note that the castle is made in a "L" shaped layout. The left/West Entrance. Notice the flaps that would allow archers/crossbowmen to fire through and take cover. The inside side of the West entrance. Entrance to the hall from the courtyard/bailey. The alchemy room. With a green substance in a flask and a chandelier below the tall ceiling. The certainly need a ladder here. A tower with a wooden hoarding around it. Crossbows are stored here. The armoury. Along with the stacked sword it has a bed for a soldier here as well. View above the towers. Better view of the catapult and the winch for raising the portcullis. Inside the shack extension. The Great Hall. Turnable fire in the great hall's fireplace. Winch which you can rotate the fire and exterior of the hall. Drawbridge Outside. Gate Inside. Chest room. Stone Sigil. Walkway. Romans with a catapult & Celtic Warriors. Upper view.
  11. This building was inspired by 2008 set 10184, Town Plan. I added a rear to the building in a style like set 31026, Bike Shop & Cafe. The building also takes cues from ScotNick and his modular take on the Town plan set. (see it here) I personally think this building looks very Back To The Future-like. Please note, my version of the building is not modular, and swings open to reveal the inside, such as in set 31026. It even locks shut on a Technic pin to keep the building closed. The upper floor features the mayors office with filing cabinets while the lower floor features the secretary’s desk. I know their isn't much in here, but I didn't know what to put inside. The back of the building. The middle rear window was very frustrating: it doesn't look like I imagined it but does manage to give off a clean appearance. The car was originally based on the car from set 10232, (Palace Cinema) along with a front end inspired by set 70906 (The Joker Notorious Low-rider) and a rear partially taken from set 79011. (The Penguin - Arctic Roller) The car features seating for two mini figures, but the figures can not see out the front windshield. The trunk at the back of the car can fit a suitcase inside and the side doors can open wide. The LDD file for both car and building as seen above is ready for download here. Comments, Questions and complaints are always welcome! NOTES: Newly edited model: I revised the roof and column tops by suggestion of a certain Eurobricks user. The model can now open only up to 90 degrees and the year 1922 goes on the top of the building where the exposed studs are in printed 1 x 1 tiles. You can compare the new model to the old one above. (the old building model is NOT included in the updated LDD file seen earlier in this post!)
  12. Hello again! Here is my last Western MOC: -------------------GAMBLING HALL --------------------------- Look at the whole building: A few pictures of the sides : When it comes to style building, this time I dont put emphasis on some advanced construction techniques but on a combination of colors. The central part of building is the only a little more technically demanding but with little help of the tiles and turntable plates, it was easy to solve . Several pictures in larger scale plan, details of the facade : Top view: This Western MOC is also done in the spirit of classic Lego sets - opened back side for visitires of exibitions Interior: That"s all folks, I hope you enjoy

    The Chase Begins

Built for the Isles of Aura. Dear Journal, After seeing a sign indicating that mercenaries, and bounty hunters were needed to hunt down a man simply known as 'the Cap'n', who had apparently become a significant trouble to the kingdom, I reported to the Town Hall to sign up for the mission. Inside I found a colonel overseeing the hiring, several soldiers keeping watch over the proceedings, and the usual clerks about their business. The contract was straight forward: only the first man to capture the rogue and bring him safely to the Realm of Vermilion would receive the the large bounty. As I signed the contract, along with several other men, I was surprised to see what appeared to be a young gentleman who looked to be a bit of a dandy, arrive. He talked to the Colonel privately for a moment, then turned to address us all. To my surprise, he apparently was going after the Captain himself, and he suggested we all work together to capture him, and then split the reward. For this purpose, he proposed to host a feast the next day, and our discussion of plans to occur there. The others agreed readily enough, but I had my doubts as to his true intentions, and thus had no plans of showing up, but planned to depart on the first ship I could find heading towards where the Captain had last been known to be operating. -Vigr Bardagi See more pictures, here. Comments always appreciated

    Hradcanny Dungeons

Built for the Colossal Castle Contest. It was inspired by Michal Herbolt's "Defending the Mine" build. There are 4 individual cell modules that hook onto the back of the build. The dwarves of Hradcanny know well that run down prison cells increase the chances of escape, thus, even their dungeons feature wonderful craftsmanship of stonework. See more pictures here: link Thanks for looking, more to come soon

    Katoren City Hall

My second module for a large collab with soccerkid6. The Katoren city hall collects taxes and issues licenses. A concealed compartment under the floor provides a secure location for the collected money. See a video of how the trapdoor works here: Link Credit goes to robuko's "King of Queenscross" build for inspiring the dark red parts on the city hall. More pictures can be seen here: Link C&C much apreciated
  17. Yesterday I posted to flickr this creation of mine influenced by Buddhist and in turn Hindu art. Specifically the statue is meant to represent a bodhisattva like Ksitigarbha and Avalokitesvara. Each of the ritual objects held by the bodhisattva's many arms has a religious significance: the bell to punctuate the recitation of mantras, the staff with jingling rings to announce the coming of a traveler, the trident to represent the three jewels and three poisons of Buddhist philosophy, the axe to symbolically behead ignorance (one of the poisons), and the round orange vessel is meant to represent a wish-fulfilling jewel or cintamani. Click the image for a link to the flickr photo page. I feel bad posting these other things because some are almost a year old, but I'm not sure that new topics would be appropriate either. Anyhow, I exhibited this model at Brickfair VA last year and it's based on the library on the Island of Myst that sets the adventure puzzle game Myst and appears in some of its sequels. These boats I also assembled for the con as my small contribution to last year's Apocalug cyber city. The one in the middle is based on the airboat from the episode "Ganymede Elegy" of the anime Cowboy Bebop. Finally, the oldest model I never posted here isn't very refined as I built it only to photograph for the banner of a flickr group, but I think some of you may appreciate it. It's designed after a meeting house or wharenui used by the Maori people of New Zealand. Once again I have linked the image to its flickr page. Thanks for looking through all these, Nathan
  18. Some people call Alvin a wizard. Some call him an alchemist. Some whisper about him being a magician or a warlock. Almost everyone agrees that he’s slightly insane. What Alvin considers himself to be is something much nobler, however. “A Man of Science” is his self-applied title: a great experimenter, a brilliant scholar, a modern incarnation of Plato, Socrates, Archimedes and all the rest. Although, in his day and age, a successful “scientist” is usually someone who’s either very lucky, or has experienced a lot of “trial and error”. Whatever he is, Alvin is certainly not a very safe person to be around. His wild experimenting can often be very dangerous for a casual bystander. After he almost burned an entire village to the ground, the king decided it would be safer for everybody if Alvin was kept somewhere a little more “secluded”. Naturally a dark, empty room in the basement of the royal castle would be the perfect place to hide away an annoying wizard; the thick stone walls and ceiling should be strong enough to protect the rest of the world from the wild antics of the mad pseudoscientist…right? ****** Alvin scuffled back and forth between shelves stocked with wizardish appliances, hastily gathering the necessary ingredients for his latest concoction. According to his precise calculations—and some wild guessing—Alvin determined that the elixir for eternal life was within his grasp! Hustling franticly about the room, the old wizard snatched up a few final items, and then hurried to the center of the room, where a large cauldron was brewing. Alvin added ingredients one at a time, lifting the lid carefully with each thing he slipped into the cauldron. The great pot sizzled and bubbled, and a pungently foul odor spread about the room. ****** Smiling as he greeted his dinner guests, the king gestured for all present to have a seat. The tall, ornate wooden chairs squeaked slightly as the lords and ladies dropped into them. The king explained that dinner was still being prepared, but that the guests should all have a drink; his best wine was being served. As the guests took up conversations with one another and lifted their goblets for a toast, a slight rumbling shook the room. ****** The lid on the cauldron was shaking wildly now as Alvin slipped the last item into the huge pot. He stepped back carefully, as a huge grin spread across his silly face. His thoughts racing, he imagined the great power he would have with this mighty elixir. Suddenly, a loud pop sounded from within the cauldron. Without warning, the heavy metal lid was blown violently into the air, knocking Alvin roughly backward and causing the pot’s contents to spill out over the side. The lid continued its upward course until reaching the brick ceiling, which it subsequently blasted through. ****** The king let a counterfeit smile spread across his features as he raised his glass for another toast. Seriously, he grumbled to himself, this is the most boring dinner party I’ve ever been at! He touched the goblet to his lips, but before he could swallow any of the wine he was suddenly hit with an enormous wave of intense heat! The goblet fell from his grasp when suddenly a heavy iron pot-lid exploded through the table in front of him. It was followed by a ball of flame and a long line of smoke, leading back through the floor into the chambers of…the king closed his eyes and fervently wished to be someplace else. ______________________________ Here’s my second and last entry to the CCCXI! Category: Trial and Error. This was really a blast to build, haha. Thanks to my Dad for scientific advice and general encouragement. Happy new year everybody! :) Soli Deo Gloria!
  19. Here's my latest MOC: Bright sunlight filtered through the intricate stained glass of the Hall’s windows. The cold stone brick walls and floor of the room soaked in the warm illumination. Around the Hall, courtiers stood in small, casual groups, talking of politics and court gossip. Suddenly the great wooden doors at the end of the Hall burst open. A fully-armored knight strode in; the king jumped excitedly to his feet. “Your highness,” the knight said with a bow. “I bring news of the western front. I have ridden all the way from the township of Ellithshire to bring it. The war goes not well! All the countryside is ravaged with brutal warfare. Reinforcements are desperately required!” Breathing heavily from this exhortation, the knight gazed about the room, his grim countenance silencing the many whispering groups of excited courtiers. The crow-shaped crest atop his helmet bobbed up and down with each breath; it almost seemed alive and ready to fly away. After a moment of thought, the king called aloud to the captain of the guard. “Captain! Send messengers to the villages. Issue a call to arms to all military age men. Once they are gathered, we ride off…to war!” The excitement in the court couldn’t be held in any longer. Wild whispers rose to shouts as the courtiers suddenly realized the gravity of this proclamation. The war was no longer just a distant rumble; it had now grown to a mighty roar! ________________________________________________________ I came up with a lot of new techniques for this build, including a ton that I didn’t use. I probably have enough unused techniques to build another throne room. (hmmm, if only there were some kind of contest going on right now that I could do that for…;) Anyway, thanks for viewing! :D Soli Deo Gloria! :)

    Hradcanny Hall

Pillars, table, and chairs inspired by Gideon's cool interior for challenge VI, and the doors were inspired by some of SoT's stuff. I had fun with the figs and furniture in this build. Also used a couple of tips from Gideon concerning presentation. Joktan and Jayan are meeting with some Hradcanny nobles in one of Hradcanny's many great halls: More pictures here: link All C&C appreciated
  21. The Hall of Justice from the Super Friends show, in Micro Scale. I've also built the Legion of Doom many months ago, as shown below, but that will be rebuilt new soon, so look for that too! Anyways, The Hall of Justice Super Friends! Legion of Doom (Old) Enjoy ~Nemo
