  1. Let me introduce you to a new, or rather old, build contest this month. Like some of you might remember, next to various build months like FebRovery or SHIPtember, there once also was Marchitecture, for building microscale architecture MOCs in March. However, since this ended back 5 years ago, I decided to revive this concept. So this March we're celebrating Marchitecture yet again! Everyone is invited to contribute Architecture MOCs. The builds should model an "existing" original, concentrate on man-made immobile structures (i.e. buildings) and be smaller than minifig scale, basically in spirit of the LEGO Architecture series (but you don't have to adhere to LEGOs strict design principles). There's two different categories, one for models based on real or historic buildings and one for buildings from films, games and other media. Both categories also accept digital entries, but they should at least try to make a structurally coherent build and not go overboard with unavailable part colours either. There's two prizes for each category, a LEGO set and a custom-build trophy, as well as a third prize pair for all digital entries. So how do you take part? The whole thing works similar to Summer Joust and the like. There's a Flickr group, which also contains further information about the contest and rules, with entry threads for the individual categories. And you can also participate on Instagram using the hashtag #marchitecture2024. Happy building (and tell your friends)!

  5. This question is for folks that set-up GBC modules at events. Do you have an emergency/breakdown/set-up kit that you take to events? If so what do you have in your kit? I did my first event this past weekend and would like to make sure that I am better equipped for the next event which will be in October. Thanks, Daniel
  6. I am taking my regular spot at Newport Leisure Center for Geek Fest, tomorrow and Sunday. Come say hi and see some brand new MOCs.
  7. Here is my medieval landscape from HUNLTC's recent exhibition in Budapest, Hungary. Only about 150 out of my 700 soldiers were present, but this time the emphasis was on landscaping. This 35-baseplate display is just the first step: I'm planning to expand it to 60 beseplates by next year. Inspiration & ideas for this came from a multitude of great builders here, among others Derfel Cadarn, Sirens-of-Titan, DNL, Mark of Falworth and Jojo. Thanks, guys!
  8. To all noteworthy citizens of the Brick Seas, King's Harbour has recently received Royal Recognition as a city of the Empire, and to celebrate this, Colonial Governor Jtno. Cooke, Captain, RN, wishes to invite dignitaries of all nations to a ball in the soon to be opened Governor's House (See spolier). One of the first events of its kind in Terra Nova, the Governor hopes that socialites from all over the Brick Seas will make their way to King's Harbour to join in the festivities, the banquet, and the following ball. (Dancing optional) Should you be interested in attending, please send your card to King's Harbour so the event can be planned accordingly. Your host, Captain Jno. Cooke, RN Colonial Governor, The Southern Isles OOC: Why not celebrate? I am building a ballroom and thought I might as well populate it. I hope to see many sig figs or their representatives making their way to King's Harbour, and will try to recreate everyone who attends to the best of my abilities. Fleshies might be "yellowfied" and I might need a little help in identifying proper parts, but I will do my best. I will of course highly encourage a few story builds leading up to the ball getting your characters to King's Harbour, and you are welcome to build here while you are at it, but it is not a requirement. Only the most obvious plotholes will be denied. (eg. if your character is known to be far way to the south. But then you can always send someone else). If anyone wants to interact specifically with some of the other guests, I will do my best to show that in the build. Just let me know - it may be a good opportunity to talk to a friend, prospective business partner, or strike secret political deals. I can't make any promises as to timing, but my best guess is in about a month. I think this will be fun :) Edit: All credit for the coat of arms goes to @Kolonialbeamter
  9. On 27th of august, there is an event called “Brick Wars” in the museum of the 20th century in Hoorn in the Netherlands. It is a small event with a group of 6-7 people exhibiting with models and diorama’s based on Lego Star Wars. The exhibitors can tell you all about the builds and there will be a small stand where you can buy small sets, minifigs and other. In the museum is an exhibition of Star Wars merchandise. It is the 40th anniversary of Star Wars and you can see the merchandise from 1977 to present. You can take place in the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon and dress yourself as characters from the movies. There are two rooms with merchandise and there is a corridor with showcases with Lego Star Wars after the permanent exhibition with living rooms from the 20th century. In the corridor is a building competition for the visitors. You can win prizes with this competition. In the museum is a small gift shop with Star Wars merchandise and there is a place where you can get your drinks and/or snacks. It is a small event. 14. Hello everyone ! Is anyone coming to the Lego exhibition that will be in Casteggio (Pavia) Italy, 19-20 March ? Here is the link: http://casteggio.wix.com/legocasteggio#!programma/bbr0m
  15. So I went to the LEGOWorld Copenhagen 2016 along with thousand´s of other people last weekend. It was a great event as usual for us fans of LEGO. As i could bore you with an insane amount of pictures of all of the event I will focus only on the Fan area. For now, most pictures are present. More will be added lateron! As I wen´t along with my sister twins, I had to somewhat rush through the event ( well, I didnt get the time to talk to everyone as you can imagine how eager 5year old kids behave ) Another thing that is really a shame is that I thought I had my camera all setup for the event. For some reason a lot of the pictures were overexposed ( I think is the right word in English ). I´ve been trying to the best of my ability to make all the pictures watchable afterall. Hope that you will enjoy as much as I did. Here we go: Ulrik Hansen came up with the information that its creator is Søren Johansen from Byggepladen (DK), and Cowboy Gibson from Brikkelauget (NO) A representation called Dragons Lair. As a kid I spend an awefull lot of coins playing a game named the same at the local Arcade, now I´ve just been told by Ulrik Hansen, that i´ts actually a representation of Smaug from LOTR. The creator is Sharon Vance from MichLUG (US). A gorgeous creation indeed ! JanetVanD were there as well. Her Awesome creation Fortress of solitude was also one of my favorites. Im so sad that my pictures of it turned out so bad. This is the best I could present to you. But check her creation out yall ! Transformers. These creations ( I know two are missing for now, will add pictures lateron ), can be transformed as the creator had an tablet showing the process. This scale and the way they were made was beyond my skills. Mindblowing to say the least. My god ! STARCRAFT !!!! These creations were also some of the best to me. I´ve been trying to build microscale Starcraft creations some years ago, but I only finished Terran and Protos. Zerg were the bane of my life. Those organic forms to me is just insanely har to accomplish. Cecilie is the woman who made these. I think she did it to what I think is the best that LEGO can offer for now with the part´s available. So well done ! You can watch all of her Starcraft creations Here on Flickr. And they are definatly worth checking out. Bricksonwheels were present. And while I´m mostly into Classic build´s or Historic themes, these just threw me of the floor. Seeing these creations in real life was just the best part of the day. So well build, so well presented. To top it Bricksonwheels is a really friendly guy. Check out his book: The Art of LEGO Scale modelling. Gulliver´s Island by Palle & Tina Haulrich of Byggepladen (DK). A fun MOC that I would have never thought of making. This was also a thing that draw the twins as they had recently been told the story. They enjoyed it as well as i did. An Rasmus Klump Diorama. Build by these people from Byggepladen (DK): Anne Mette Vestergaard, Lasse Vestergaard, Helgi Toftegaard, Henrik Kunz and Jakob Hestbæk. Again Ulrik Hansen came to help out telling us all who made this wonderful creation. I have no clue as to what, if these Child book´s even exist´s in English. If they do please tell what they are called. Another very well represented build with loads of awesome easily recognisable features from these kid´s stories. For now most of the pictures are here. Next step is to add text and so on. Im not quite done with the whole of the event. Busy busy. But will add more when I have some sparetime to spend on this post. I hope you got something out of it and enjoyed the pictures as well as the builds. If you know who made any of the MOC´s i havent yet named the creators of, please give me a hint so i can add proper links to the user, or at least link´s to their respective Flickr, or whatever they use to publish their creations. All C and C will be appreciated. Dont hold back. KlodsBrik

  19. Hi all, Some of you might know me from this topic, in which I showed the progress made on a module for a group layout. As promised, and a little late, here are some pictures of the layout which was build by Aawsum, Alois, Moos, Thomassio, Wilbert and me. This were the plans for the entire layout: Layout_Final by Aawsum MOCs Lego, on Flickr After 1 day of setting up, the layout was as good as ready, there were some minor details, but they were solved in a couple of days. 20151020_210040 by Aawsum MOCs Lego, on Flickr Now just some pictures Legoworld Utrecht 2015 by Erwin, on Flickr Legoworld Utrecht 2015 by Erwin, on Flickr Legoworld Utrecht 2015 by Erwin, on Flickr Legoworld Utrecht 2015 by Erwin, on Flickr Legoworld Utrecht 2015 by Erwin, on Flickr Legoworld Utrecht 2015 by Erwin, on Flickr And a video made by Aawsum: LTC_Legoworld2015 by Aawsum MOCs Lego, on Flickr If you want to see more photo's from the layout, these albums should help: Aawsum, Alois, Me Questions, comments and critique are as always welcome. 20. This weekeng I joined the brick event at Shanghai (China), which organized by LeleZhen LUG. LelezhenLUG is from the largest Lego Fans Forum in China, the site address is www.lelezhen.com . They had an opportunity sponsered by the coming of LEGO Discovery Center in Shanghai. I'm the member of ChinaLUG, so I attended the activity as the volunteer. Let's have a look at the construction work back of the house. We spent the whole day to recover the USS Enterprise from Startrek designed by one fan from Guangzhou. Till 19:00 at that night, the huge castle was shipped to site with the builder and his family. Then after another few hours, all things were set. After 22:00 o'clock, the construction work of layout was allowed to begin in the main hall of the mall. The showcases were installed For the huge castle and USS Enterprise, due to the large size, we moved them on 1 plate at one time. (Fortunately, they standed as a whole. ) All the things were placed well till 2:00, we left the cases locked. We were back at 9:30 next morning, others which came from Nanjing were arrived, including a huge size crane. Under erecting Everthing were ready till 11:00, I shoted the show on Youtube without editing. still don't know how to insert the video, I attached the link for your information. I post some site photoes. This is one champion of site building challege. The site building challenge is ongoing. The focus We also set the bulk area for kids The desied eyes (Lego is still abit of expensive in China market.) So, that's the first report of the brick event in China. Wish you like it. Thanks for watching.

  23. A hugely important part of BRICK is the Fan Zone where we get to showcase MOCs from AFOLs from across the World. This year BRICK has expanded and we have 2 shows: we are at ExCeL in London again and we are launching at The NEC in Birmingham and we’re looking for your builds to help amaze and inspire our visitors. If you’d like to take part in the BRICK 2015 shows by displaying your MOCs then we’d love to hear from you! Last year we had a huge response: 145 AFOL Exhibitors, creating 4,000sqm of display. They came from the UK, Ireland, France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Denmark, Norway, South Africa and the USA. We can't accept every submission, but we try our very best to accept everything we can to make the Fan Zone as awesome as possible and we're really excited to see what you've been building! All accepted Exhibiting AFOLs receive FREE accommodation, lunches and AFOLCON attendance, plus access to request funding if you need help in getting your display to the show(s). We can accept displays from anyone as long as you're over 18 (*over 16, with written legal parent/guardian consent), your display is cool and meets our criteria. Further info & some FAQs can be found here: http://www.afolcon.com/faq/ If you can’t find the answer to your question there, please email info@brickshows.co.uk and we’ll do our best to answer them for you. If you are interested in exhibiting your creations at the BRICK 2015 shows, please fill in the form(s) at this link: www.afolcon.com/exhibiting Submissions will close at 11:59pm GMT on Sunday 23rd August. 24. Hi to everybody! In the last weekend there was, in Merano, a small but nice Lego exposition. Between a lot of cool stuff, there was a Technic section, where I exposed my Tractor Truck and a new Moc, and where I saw a couple of interesting Mocs/Mods. This the pictures of them: iBrick Winter Edition 2014 by lucioswitch81, on Flickr iBrick Winter Edition 2014 by lucioswitch81, on Flickr iBrick Winter Edition 2014 by lucioswitch81, on Flickr iBrick Winter Edition 2014 by lucioswitch81, on Flickr iBrick Winter Edition 2014 by lucioswitch81, on Flickr iBrick Winter Edition 2014 by lucioswitch81, on Flickr I drove for an half hour my Truck and see all this smiling and astonished kids faces was my best personal prize.
  25. Hi all, I'd like to share the pictures and videos of our last event, which was held between the 10th and 12th of October. We participated Middle-Europe's largest model railway exhibition with participants from 7 other countries, displaying our train-based 38 metres long layout. The most popular building of the display was the Budapest - Western Train Station, where train tracks end in the building, without the possibility to avoid trains turning back. The reason I post it here to share and get experience with other TFOLs and AFOLs who creates train-based displays. As far as I've seen it on Brickshelf and Flickr, most train LUGs creates one or more loops around cities, where trains are running around for couple of circles, then train goes of to some storage track and another goes in. We started to create layouts without loops in 2012, which means constant taking care of trains is necessary, not to let them run into other trains or leave tracks at their ends. We use 9V to run most of our trains, and the whole line is separated to couple of sections, driven separately with 9V speed regulators. We use polarity-sensitive PF LEDS to warn each other if our section is busy. That allows to run more train at the same time, and we try to simulate some realistic traffic on our rails. Please share with us how you design your big show displays, how do you control your trains, and what are priorities for an event for you. Pictures from my Brickshelf: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=548694 Videos of various trains running: Fun video, including almost all our passanger cars:
