A Trebuchet.cro colleague talked me into to start building castles. First I built a small tower a few years ago , and then I expanded to the buildings in the city and the surrounding countryside and port. After collecting bricks for a long time, I decided to knock down a small tower and make a castle, so that part of the interior can be seen. The castle is 80 cm high. We start from the kitchen, then the great hall, the royal bedroom and finally the sleeping princess. It is planned to raise the walls and to expand the city and the port.

The busy markets of the capital of Faldia, Rindael, are visited by many different people from Hellum and the northern islands to Felisia in the south, even as far as Sinar and Kadan in the east (see map at the bottom of the post). Because the grand market is such a busy place, it also attracts a lot of unwanted visitors. One such man is Waldor, the master thief. The Lady in white just alarmed the Royal Falcon guard of the robbery, he stole her golden ring. -- Can You help the guards to find Waldor. Apparently a multitude of Golden objects can be found, held by a person: - A golden ring. - Golden coins. - A golden trumpet. - A golden key. - A golden harp. -- If you follow my MOCs and figbarfs of the Whispering Woods, you may find a lot of familiar faces in the crowd, try to spot them all. One such pair is currently in negotiation about a couple of cows. Hi All! I'd like to share with you my latest take on the Castle theme. It's called Castle of Lord Afol and the Black Knights. I tried to keep it classic in general appearance, modern in detail, playable and sturdy. The latter features are yet to be proven, as it's still only a digital MOC While it may look a bit modest compared to some contemporary MOCs, it is so for a reason - it contains "only" 3000 pieces, which is a limit for Lego Ideas entries. And while some of the MOCs around boast insane shapes, this one is quite solid and, despite the name, I think it could be built without a big problem by a 10-year-old with some practice with Lego. To build a medieval castle from my home districts in Switzerland has been on my mind for a long time. Last year, I initiated some searching. This resulted in discovering Ruin Waldenburg Castle which is situated approx. 30 km southeast of Basel. Based on excellent pictures and references provided by the archaeologist of Baselland, I decided to build a Lego model of this castle as it may have looked like in the 16th/17th century. Waldenburg Castle has a long history which goes back to the 13th century. During the uprisings in January 1798, the castle was put on fire by leaders of the Baselbiet Freedom Movement. Today, only ruins remain. And now – after just over 300 (!) working hours – this Lego model is finally ready! A long journey from idea to reality has come to an end. The virtual work with format and design in Studio 2.0 has taken most time, almost 200 hours. Inventory and procurement of all Lego parts – with orders placed at 32 BrickLink stores in Sweden and other Europe – were also very time consuming. To build the model itself took me approx. 70 hours. This has indeed been an exciting and rather challenging project. I am very satisfied with the result. The model is 85 cm long, 40 cm wide, with a maximum height of 47 cm above the baseplates. It is built in three levels and consists of approx. 5 300 pieces. Lego LED 9V accounts for the interior lighting. I would like to thank the Office of Archaeology of Baselland for their excellent support, without which this project would not have been possible at all. My entry for Brickscalibur 2021 - Rogues and Outlaws category. Hello everyone! Third MOC in the series of little Sarophas. This time arriving at Ravnsborg Castle, the stronghold of the Baroness and her henchmen. Far to long, these thugs have been taxing the local villagers to the breaking point, only to fill their coffers with their hard earned money, but no more! Heinrich and the Hatted Huntsmen are scaling the tower walls to gain access to the castle, in an attempt to 'liberate' the Baroness' treasure hoard. The Ruins of Green Mire Keep I present my MOC of the ruins of an old keep. A Knight and his guards hire a local peasant to lead them to these mysterious ruins known for strange goings on. These ruins seem to have become the home of a Necromancer. Thank you for checking out my MOC! With the reissuing of the Black Falcon’s faction in the current Blacksmith set and in the lego creator 3 in 1 castle set, I thought it was the right time to give the Black Falcons back a proper fortress. For me such a fortress has to be based on the iconic fortress in set 6074 from 1986. Lego already did a re-release in 2012, but this was an exact copy of the 1986 set. Now 10 years later, with modern lego bricks we can give it a fresh new look up to today’s standards. Like in the orginal set, in my build the front of the fortress has 2 octagonal towers surrounding the drawbridge. This special tower shape gave the 1986 set it’s iconic look, so this shape was a must to include in this MOC. In the back of the fortress, the defensive walls in the corners are also half octagonal shaped to continue this unique look. Also like in the original in the back on the right side, there is a square tower with a pyramid shaped black roof (with the old style slopes). In the back on the left, I deviated somewhat from the orginal layout to create much larger living quarters. The yellow-black wall in the watchtower in the 1986 set is replaced by a whole yellow-black dining room on the first floor and an attic on top in this section. The positioning of the roof and chimney are pretty close to the orginial, but way bigger. There's a lot of detail cramped up in a 40x40 brick footprint so it can be used as a display piece on a shelf. But like the 6074 set it can open up completely and every function becomes accessible. Play functions: a drawbridge a forge a kitchen a dining room an attic for storage with pulley system a market/shop a jail a water well a secret wall I’m still waiting on some parts to finish the live build, so therefore I finished it first in studio and created already some renders. Majisto's Tower Reimagined Majisto’s Tower Reimagined I reimagined Majisto’s Tower #1906 for the CCC’s Return of the GOAT contest. Dragon Masters has always been my favorite LEGO theme (and favorite castle faction). Initially, I planned to re-do Majisto’s Magical Workshop #6048, after building a micro version. But others have created their renditions of it and Majisto’s Tower seemed more fitting for a castle contest. Original Majisto’s Tower; Set #1906 Released in 1994, Majisto’s Tower, set #1906, was sold only in (North?) America. I came with many terrific parts (190 pieces total) for the price ($20), including: Printed wall panel and 8-wide arch pieces Dragon Masters Flag & Shield Spiral Staircase Tower roof Two BURPs Several castle wall/corner panels Horse 3 figs Castle-printed box with play features Castle on the Back and Side of the Original Box That last one, the custom printed box, has some awesome castle designs, which I incorporated into my build. The color scheme of the paved ground came from this depiction while the foliage covered ground came from the green baseplate of the original set. Sadly, I do not have the box anymore (or cannot find it). Comparison of the original set and my reimagined MOC My recreation is approximately twice the size of the original in each dimension. The building portion is about 60% bigger; I expanded the ground and landscaping to fill up the rest. I kept the prominent features: the two towers and gateway as they were in the original and the rocks are in approximately the same place as the BURPs. Comparison of the back side I imagined this tower being built at the top of a hill with a cliff drop-off to the left and behind. For this reason, I built the rockwork along the whole back side without a proper wall, true to the original. Spiral Stairs A key element from the set is the spiral staircase up to Majisto’s tower. I built mine in the reverse direction as exiting the stairs off the model seemed strange. But to make it fit, I added a balcony off the back of the tower. Workshop I added some potions, candles and a bookshelf to the expanded tower. Like the official set, I kept this room open. This makes it both easy to see the magical equipment and keep the play features from the original set. Bookshelf Gold Dragons Above the Gate As a kid, my eye was quickly drawn to the printed dragons over the entry arch and tower window. Rather than reuse the printed pieces, I brick-built them. Gold Dragons around the Tower Window Stable Another change I made was to add some space for a stable under the tower for the horse - complete with a manger. Chariot And speaking of the horse, I scaled down the chariot while still keeping its flamboyant wings. The chariot design was inspired by GJC15344. The Front Door Besides the chariot, there are two other movable pieces in the original set: the front doors and the secret passage. While the front doors do open and close, they are a bit stiff and fragile. Secret Exit on the Right Side The secret exit of the set opened with a horizontal hinge. I used a vertical one (using a Mixel joint). This allowed me to blend in the hidden door fairly well. Guard Tower’s Inner Door Another change I made was to the front guard tower. I decided to enclose it. There are three non-functional doors: one at the base of the tower, one leading out to the parapet over the gate and a trap door to the top of the tower. Parapet over the Gate I had planned to build the tower with the corner wall panels, but I didn’t have enough pieces for a 1x4 panel technique and the large corner panel this achieved the look I wanted while staying true to the original set. Growing up in the 90s, the Black Knight's Castle (6086) from '92 has always been the quintessential LEGO castle to me. With its big 3D baseplate it was a really massive presence and it had everything that to this day still defines a stereotypical castle for me, a big gate with a working drawbridge and portcullis, well-defended towers and walls, a cozy house with beautiful yellow tudor framework and red roof and a neat little back entrance, together with the cool glow-in-the-dark ghost and a dungeon inside the base accessed via a trapdoor. One of my biggest and most favourite sets as a child, I built this a lot over the years. Jump forward almost 30 years and even before the huge 400€ nostalgia castle there's another cool castle within the Creator 3-in-1 series. And while that's of course only a 3-in-1 playset, it works really well as exactly that and still looks really nice for what it is. So I asked myself, what would the almost 3 decades older legend of LEGO castles look like in the style of this new 3-in-1 castle? Well, wonder no longer, because that's how it might actually look like: Now keep in mind this is a deliberate attempt at porting the style of the 3-in-1 castle over to the architecture of the old castle, so it isn't going to sport the most elaborate building techniques. However, I still took the liberties of refining the 3-in-1 style a bit more for a more rounded composition as well as nicer battlements and roofs. But while I tried to use as many parts as possible from the 3-in-1 set, I explicitly decided against a pure alternative build, as that would have limited the part selection too much and when in doubt, it was usually aesthetics over part reuse. You'll note it also uses the old 3D baseplate, which I think is an integral part of the Black Knight's Castle's design and appeal. Other than that, it wasn't too difficult porting the sets over, as both quite rigorously use a 6-high storey design. But of course I didn't want to just capture the old castle's architectural features but also its play features, and combine them with the new castle's. Most of the interior and furniture is directly taken from the 3-in-1 castle, so we have the blacksmith with his workshop, the throne and fireplace, the food stall, as well as the dungeon complete with removeable wall. Only for the watermill and its mechanism there wasn't any room anymore. From the old castle we got the floor dungeon with trapdoor as well as the back entrance to the house and of course the good old ghost is there too, together with the skeleton from the new set. The gate uses the string-based drawbdrige from the old set, but with the automatic locking mechanism from the new set. It also ports this mechanism over to the portcullis, which in the old set was manually operated (the only reason I use a newer part here is aesthetics, the old big portcullis piece would fit just as well). Using string, while maybe not as beautiful or modern, has the advantage that the unlocking and falling mechanism of the drawbridge works a lot more smoothly than in the Creator set. Of course the whole thing also comes with building instructions on Rebrickable. The Creator 3-in-1 castle is a good starting point, covering about half of the 1800 pieces. From the others only the 3D baseplate (if you don't own the original castle) and the 2x5 bricks with the portcullis rail might be a bit problematic, since they're a bit rare in dark bluish grey. The figures are of course only a "serving suggestion", but using the ones from the Creator set makes sense (and the MOC uses the same Black Falcon theming of that and other recent castle revivals).

Briefly about me: I am a 36 years old German AFOL and fan of classic fantasy and sci-fi, from. I particularly like the castle (including LOTR) and pirates theme, but I also enjoy many other sets. About my creation: As a child of the 80's I grew up with classic fantasy movies and also the mentioned LEGO themes. So I wanted to build a creation that reflects both. This is the castle "Tir Asleen" from the movie Willow from 1988. Maybe some of you know the original or the trailer for the new series. Val Kilmer as Madmartigan is iconic to me personally. I wanted to build something that was more detailed than usual released sets - but a little less MOC-alike than possible. The idea was to add it to my fantasy film collection, but also let my little stepson play with it. Therefore, some game functions are also built in. I hope they are well represented in the pictures. They say the fruits she bears are so sweet and hydrating one can drink seawater for days after eating them." A noble prince and his entourage hunts for the tree but after questing for days through dense forest they find it stripped bare. Looking at the black tower next to it his bannerman notices the torches above the door are lit. The prince sends in his squires to search for the missing fruits. But shortly after entering the tower spits one out running for dear life! This place is abandoned no more... Had this base left over from the Summer Joust. Shame to let it go to waste. The tree uses the same frame as Carter Witz's Bonsai Special thanks to Stuifzand from Lowlug for the idea to close off the back of the base, saved me a lot of time!' [MOC] Black Falcons Castle - The Siege of Bricks: Conquest project

Hi! Today I'm starting my new Castle project it's called... THE SIEGE OF BRICKS: CONQUEST Maybe some of you remember my project from 2 years ago, I built a working trebuchet and a winter terrain. It was a collab with my friend Cube Brick. Today we are starting the second edition - Conquest Once again our armies will face a great battle. This time I will build a great castle :) The planned size is 52x84 studs, the height is not known yet, but there will be two towers. The castle will belong to Black Falcon. I plan to build: - a gate with a working harrow, - defensive walls, - small towers, - a large tower with a roof, - the main building with the throne room, - courtyard, - some monument or fountain, - a dungeon with prisoners, - treasury Much more about this project here: -
I've been meaning to post this here for--yikes, almost a year now. I built for the last CCC; it was my first minifigure-scale completed castle. Lots of fun to build and fun to play with too! This castle, by the way, is somewhere up in the Rakath Mountains, at least I believe that's where LittleJohn put his Black Falcons long ago. It includes a drawbridge that works most of the time I noticed that on the new LEGO castle they used those hump things for the top of the battlements and thereby avoided the age old debate on whether your cheese should slope in or out. I went for a slope out, because I thought it looked nicest on this particular castle, and ostensibly because that way arrows glance up and away. The corner of this tudor section was probably the trickiest part to solve. It's not as smooth as I could have wished, but at least it gets the job done. Now on to the fun part: the interior! I always enjoy building furniture and interior stuff like that. I even managed to get the chandelier here to swing. The dining area is in the corner building, which has a doorway through to the library. Underneath it are the stables. If you'll believe it, I left the floor empty as I built the walls because I wasn't sure what to do, and then after that I decided to do the floating cobblestone... wiggling all that in there was just as much a pain as it sounds. Well, there it is, better late than never right? This was so much fun to build and design, I still slightly regret not having rebuilt it digitally before I tore it down.
