    Looking to switch engine/locomotive

Looking at the more recent sets there are quite a few cargo/freight trains. The engine from set 60052 has a North American look, whilst the engines from sets sets like 60336, 60198 and 60098 look more European with cabs on both ends. And if you scroll through the forum there are a lot of MOC's that might be of interest.

MOC: Postal Service at Work Before Christmas

Glad to hear that! On the other hand it was nice to se a 7760 inspired loco in the red and yellow livery.

    LEGO 7820 Mail Van

I had a lot of blue parts over so I made a blue version of the 7820 for my 2011 X-mas layout.

    Pantograph?

I have the original 7760 shunter for my 12v system and I've also built one in the red and white livery.

Suggestions for alternative loco to 7740

I have the sleeping car and the mail car from when I was kid and recently won an auction for the dining car. My plan for some time has been to build the 7740 loco in a black livery with some yellow and red details possibly replacing the windows (the ones that are grey on the original) with part 2877 as the black windows are kind of hard to find.

TTCE: DH-2 or better know as 'De Wadloper'

Sorry to bump and old thread and also for going slightly off topic. Apparently ten Waloper train sets have been sold to Argentina where they will be modified to fit Argentinan gauge and re-painted before going into service. Picture

    The Blue Train Engine

The Swedish trains and coaches were dominantly blue in a couple of different liveries from the late 80's until the early 2000's. Since then the colours have changed. Most SJ (the name that people will remember from the 12V era) trains and coaches for shorter services are now being painted black, whilst the high speed trainsets have a light grey livery. Most cargo trains are green (fitting since the cargo branch is called Green Cargo), but some remain blue until they are refubished and a few have even been kept in their original orange livery used from the late 60's to the late 80's. Eurobricks poster 'Selander' has made quite a few MOC's, including the blue ones, that have been posted here over the years.

    The Blue Train Engine

I'm in the process of making the 7820 mail van (grey 12V era) in blue (original is red). I had some blue doors and windows lying around and did discover that the big doors were available at a decent price. I only need some more parts for the roof now. As for the red shunter I've also made that for 9V, but I only had the red doors with the white stripe so that had to be used on the rest of the train as well.

Help me design a new train layout

In model railroading there are often tracks or shunting yards on hidden parts of the layout to give the feeling that trains actually disappear every now and then. Maybe something to consider as you seem to have a decent amount of space at your hands?

What do people think is next?

It's been a couple of years since the last Holiday train, so maybe that's up next?

    7740 Restoration

Fair point, but I would rather have a 'refurbished' 7740 than none at all.

    7740 Restoration

What about skipping the windows and replace them with part 2877 (the 1*2 brick with grille) in grey, yellow or black ? Has anyone considered that?
