How long before you take apart a set?

Depends on how much I like the set, whether I need the display space, whether I need the parts for something else, and when it needs cleaning. MOCs last longer than official sets because I don't have instructions and hence almost impossible to reproduce if I should ever want to - I suppose also because more of my own effort went into designing them.

    MOC: Smaug the Micro

Great micro build. I love the design ingenuity that goes into good micros - brilliantly shown here

    What's your latest acquisition?

Bought a small job lot of lego on ebay recently, and delighted to find that it contained a nearly complete 6067 Guarded Inn, and most of 6066 Camouflaged Outpost

    Africa Theme

Rarely - or the ones that have survived are rare - but still some amazing structures. Checkout for example the Great Mosque of Djenné, or the Djingareyber, Sankore and Sidi Yahia Mosques in Timbuktu. I agree that they don't have the cultural recognition that might make them sellers - also the softness/roundedness of the mud architecture wouldn't translate well into small sets - you'd need lots of pieces and detail - but I'd love to see some.
  6. That's a useful tip. Thanks Roger. I've used peeron in the past but it can be slow as you say

    A Guide To Tree Building

This thread is really useful - some amazing techniques collected here. Thanks to all contributors
  9. OK, I'm trying to learn the rules fast. Can I take it that good posts are just ones that don't show me up as a spmmer, or contain abusive language or anything? I don't have to be especially witty or clever or amusing?

    Hello

Hi - got into lego on my own account recently when I realised that I didn't have to stop playing with it just because my son's left home - I could collect it for myself. I'm particularly interested in more architectural historic and fantasy sorts of things, and less into vehicles and technic. btw I'm a girl - heading over to register now
