  1. The Deadline for Submissions for BRICK 2016 NEC is the end of Monday 15th August. If you haven’t already found it brick.community is the new home for our new system for this year. It holds all the details for AFOLs for the show and is also where you submit your entries for the show. It allows you to create an account so you can put in all the details you know for your Display and Submission now, and if you need to, come back when you are ready to complete and submit. After the deadline you’ll still have access so you can check what you’ve submitted etc. Please watch the ‘How do I submit my Displays and Submission’ video walk-through we’ve created on the site. The new system is great, but there are a couple of steps which are not 100% intuitive. The video explains them fully. 'How-do-I-submit-in-my-Displays-and-Submissions' This year we are accepting some submissions before the deadline as we’re using MOCs in the promotion material for the show. So if you know what you’re bringing and it’s ready to go, please jump right in and get it submitted. Again for 2016 all accepted Exhibiting AFOLs receive FREE accommodation and lunches, plus access to request Grant Funding if you need help in getting your display to the show. NOTES: Accommodation: · We are offering accommodation for the following 4 nights: Wed 26th – Sat 29th Oct inclusive. · As always accommodation will be shared 2 people to a room. · Because 99% of people want accommodation for all the nights we offer (and because it was waaaaay easier to code this way!) this year we’re just asking if you want accommodation or not, rather than asking you which nights you want. · If you know that you only want accommodation for certain nights, then please just make a note of it in the ‘Anything else we should know’ box at the end of the submission form and we’ll take care of it. What we’ll consider as Displays: · We can accept displays from anyone as long as you're over 18 (*over 16, with written legal parent/guardian consent). · As always, we’re happy to consider most things as MOCs. · Again, we’re not officially tied to the The LEGO Group this year, so we can choose what we accept, but generally we try to follow the Brand Values. Remembering, of course, that this is a family-orientated show, so no sex scenes, or graphic violence. FAQs: · The site has some FAQs on it, and we’ll be adding to that as we confirm things in the lead-up to the show. · If you can’t find the answer to your question there, then please click on the ‘contact Support’ button, submit your question and we’ll do our best to answer them for you. Information on the show in general can be found at www.bricklive.co.uk
  2. Hi all, A gentle reminder that if you want to submit to display your MOCs at either BRICK NEC or BRICK London the deadline is 11:59pm GMT this Sunday, 23rd August. As we have people submitting from lots of countries, you can check what time that deadline is for your time zone by going to this link: http://www.timeandda...824T0059&p1=136 If you haven't submitted yet and wish to the forms are here: http://brick2015.com...plication-form/ And some FAQs about submitting are here: http://www.afolcon.com/faq/ If you have any issues with the forms or questions about submitting, then please email me on teresa@elsmore.net and I'll get them sorted for you. Thanks
  3. Hi James, Yup, as L@go says, if you are 16 and you can have your legal parent/guardian sign to say they are happy for you to attend then you can submit your displays :-)
  4. Great to hear, look forward to seeing your build :-)
  5. A hugely important part of BRICK is the Fan Zone where we get to showcase MOCs from AFOLs from across the World. This year BRICK has expanded and we have 2 shows: we are at ExCeL in London again and we are launching at The NEC in Birmingham and we’re looking for your builds to help amaze and inspire our visitors. If you’d like to take part in the BRICK 2015 shows by displaying your MOCs then we’d love to hear from you! Last year we had a huge response: 145 AFOL Exhibitors, creating 4,000sqm of display. They came from the UK, Ireland, France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Denmark, Norway, South Africa and the USA. We can't accept every submission, but we try our very best to accept everything we can to make the Fan Zone as awesome as possible and we're really excited to see what you've been building! All accepted Exhibiting AFOLs receive FREE accommodation, lunches and AFOLCON attendance, plus access to request funding if you need help in getting your display to the show(s). We can accept displays from anyone as long as you're over 18 (*over 16, with written legal parent/guardian consent), your display is cool and meets our criteria. Further info & some FAQs can be found here: http://www.afolcon.com/faq/ If you can’t find the answer to your question there, please email info@brickshows.co.uk and we’ll do our best to answer them for you. If you are interested in exhibiting your creations at the BRICK 2015 shows, please fill in the form(s) at this link: www.afolcon.com/exhibiting Submissions will close at 11:59pm GMT on Sunday 23rd August. Information on the show can be found at www.brick2015.com

    The LEGO Show

3BrickFriends My apologies for not replying to your posts sooner, but I was travelling and in meetings all day yesterday. My thanks to eiker86 and Dfenz for their responses. I'm very sorry that you have not had any direct contact from AXS regarding the change in date, venue and name. They had assured us that all ticket holders had been contacted AND had their tickets refunded. However, recently we have been made aware that some ticket holders had not been emailed by them. We have taken this up with them and, in addition to moving the dates and venue due to circumstances beyond our control, we have also instructed See Tickets to be be our new main Box Office suppliers. I'm glad, however, that you have received your refund and that you are able to join us on the new dates in November and have your new tickets. We look forward to seeing you there and hope you enjoy the show.

    The LEGO Show

The LEGO Show & AFOLCON will be moving to ExCeL London after an insatiable demand for tickets for the LEGO Show has meant we needed more exhibition space. The LEGO Show was originally set to take place at The O2 from 9-11 May it will now take place at ExCeL London from 27-30 November. AFOLCON will now be on 26th November 2014. The huge demand for tickets and space required to accommodate the expected attendance at the LEGO Show has necessitated the move to allow more visitors the chance to experience it. To go with its new dates and venue the LEGO Show is also changing its name to BRICK 2014 and we'll shortly be updating the sites to reflect this. AFOLCON is still called AFOLCON If you have already bought tickets for the LEGO Show then The O2 will have refunded your booking to you automatically, and you should see the refund on your statement in five to seven working days. If you still wish to attend the LEGO Show, The O2 have set up a special link, for you to purchase new tickets on, which you can find here:http://www.axs.com/uk/series/571/-tickets?skin=axs_ukmars If you need to contact The O2 about this then feel free to give us a call on 0844 856 02 02. With the change of venue we are excited to announce more LEGO fan displays, more exclusive fan content and extra day and that every ticket is now a full day ticket. We have also put up specific post on the AFOLCON blog: http://www.afolcon.c...ing-to-november

    The LEGO Show

Hi, I'm cross-posting information we've just put in the Brickset Forum as, naturally, there have been similar questions posed over there: So... Those of you that have all day tickets from the pre-sale - yes, these are still valid, for the whole day. The O2 will be communicating that out shortly. And yes, AFOLCON tickets give you access to all 5 days - everything, every session, all the evening activities etc. That's the ticket aimed at AFOLs, because I know you'll want to spend more than 3 hours in the show! Remember as well that if you display or volunteer for the weekend - that ticket is FREE. VIP tickets get you access to all sessions on the day you've bought for. You also get to enter the show an hour earlier in the morning and a goodie bag. We changed the ticketing because we had a lot of interest in the pre-sale and we also have a lot of people who want to display. There are *many many* rules about what space we can use, vs the number of people in the venue at any one time. Whilst the 02 has 20,000 seats - we obviously can't use that area to display MOCs or have play areas! From our 2011 and 2012 shows, the majority of visitors only stayed for around 3hrs so moving to sessions means that we can put in as much content and let as many people see it as possible. We dropped family tickets and simplified it to one ticket type for the same reason. We *really* don't want people to have to buy tickets on re-sale sites if the show sells out, which it otherwise had a real chance to do. That doesn't help anyone as the prices for those can be crazy. That, and sadly London is just an expensive place to do anything :-(

    The LEGO Show

Hello all, Yes, tickets for both the LEGO Show and AFOLCON are onsale. As mentioned some of this was leaked before we quite had everything ready, but here is the official blog press release, which I should give you quite a lot of answers to your queations: Press Release We’re back, Baby! AFOLCON and The LEGO Show are returning for 2014. The team behind AFOLCON and The LEGO Show are pleased to announce that both shows will return in 2014 after a year’s rest. We have new dates and a new venue in a new city! AFOLCON: 7th and 8th May 2014 The LEGO Show: 9th May – 11th May 2014 The O2 – London For those of you that haven’t heard about the show before, ‘AFOLCON’ is a special adult only fan convention for AFOLs from all over the world. After private convention days, the show is opened to the public as ‘The LEGO Show’. We’ve had two amazing years in Manchester, but for this year we’re moving south to London and to an amazing venue. The O2 is the largest entertainment venue in Europe and has played host to the best bands in the world. This May, we’ll be taking over the exhibition area inside the dome for the UK’s largest LEGO event! AFOLCON Over the last few years, AFOLCON has brought you the best insider info available to LEGO fans. We’ve had LEGO designers present their prototypes, hear how LEGO manages quality and social media and heard from professional LEGO builders. We’ve even had Mads Nipper present our Keynote session. We’re sure that AFOLCON 2014 will up the bar again and bring you an even more exciting and involving weekend. Registration for AFOLCON 2014 is open NOW at www.afolcon.com. Details of speakers and sessions will be published as soon as they are available. The LEGO Show We’re welcomed over 15,000 visitors to The LEGO Show so far – but moving to London will let us open the doors even wider! Over three public days we’ll invite the world to come and see your amazing LEGO creations and let you take part in a really special weekend. As always, during show times and afterwards you’ll have a great time meeting and talking to other AFOLs and taking part in our special weekend activities. With the move to a new venue, we’re also able to say ‘thank you’ to our AFOL exhibitors even more this year, including: FREE hot lunches and tea & coffee during show days FREE hotel accommodation in London for show exhibitors Access to a new display grant – to help with travel costs And much, MUCH more still to be announced! Public tickets are now available for The LEGO Show at www.thelegoshow.com. If you’d like to exhibit at The LEGO Show (and we’d love you to!) then we are also open for display submissions too. There are more details available at www.thelegoshow.com/exhibiting. ______________________ To explain the questions regarding tickets and sessions: We had a huge response to the presale tickets, which were all-day tickets, so we wanted to make sure as many people as possible can visit the show. So we've moved to timed sessions, based on how long people stayed at our previous shows. Details of the session timess and ticket prices are available on the O2's webiste. The pre-sale tickets and VIP tickets are valid all day.

    AFOLCON & The LEGOShow

Hi, The DK one was the most up to date information from the World Record website when we did the announcement, but Guinness have been updating their website and it is now listed as 137.5m2 from a build in Germany: http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/world-records/1000/largest-image-built-with-interlocking-plastic-bricks Ours will be the new World Record once it's complete

    AFOLCON & The LEGOShow

And we've just announced that we are attempting to break the World Record for the largest LEGO mosaic: http://www.thelegoshow.com/world-record-mosaic "The LEGO® Show, the largest in the UK, is aiming to make a 143m2 image containing approximately 550,000 LEGO® bricks. To complete the mosaic, the show organisers will need at least 2,000 members of the public to help by building a mosaic square, giving visitors the unique chance to be part of an official world record. The record, officially entitled ‘the largest image built with interlocking plastic bricks’, currently stands at 112m2, and was made by DK Publishing House (UK) in London, UK in 2010."

    AFOLCON & The LEGOShow

If you're displaying MOCs, yes you need to stay with them for Saturday through Monday. However, there will of course be lunch and other breaks where you can swap out with others and volunteers. You can wander to your heart's content on Thursday & Friday to chat with others and see everything - that is one of the major ideas behind AFOLCON. Public opening hours are 10am - 5pm Saturday through Monday. Details, as always, are on the LEGOSHOW website.

    AFOLCON & The LEGOShow

Not too late at all, the more the merrier! As well as the chance to meet'n'talk with other AFOLs & display your mocs, you can... ...shop to your heart's content - or at least your wallet's limit ;-) - from our variety of vendors... ...listen to the talks from industry-experts... ...join in the free after-hours visit to the LEGOLAND Discovery Centre, exclusively for AFOLCON attendees, see the AFOLCON website Agenda tab for details on this... ...take part in the activities planned for during the LEGOSHOW weekend, details to be published soon... ...join in the evening social activities for AFOLCON attendees, again details to be published soon... ...and if you've had enough LEGO (I know. You can never have enough right? But just maybe you'll want a break from it all) you can head into the Trafford Centre for shopping/entertainment/food etc or into Manchester town centre itself.
