    LEGO Castle 2013

I'm actually LOVING the "Crown Lions" minifigures. So what if Lego decided to use a more "LEGO like design" in this heraldry? Look at the large quality pictures with their shields - they looks gorgeous. I admit I don't like their Castle / Fortress, it's way spartan, so I'm hoping for a more "fantasy" like set more ahead to serve as their home. The Dragon Peak, the Gatehouse and the Carriage all look good to me :)

    LEGO Castle 2013

It surely seems King Leo's faction :) Too bad they had to do another four walled Castle. Why not something more alike the original King Leo's Castle? Lego Kingdoms had a spartan Castle already, so this was a perfect opportunity for them to do a proper "Palace type" Castle for King Leo. Great minifigures though. Let us hope this leads to some more gorgeous sets.

CMF Series 7 Black Knight... It's a Boar

I agree with you, for some reason, LEGO faction logo design in Castle has been consistently becoming more and more realistic / detailed. Since I view the LEGO aesthetics as a kind of "cartoonization" of real life (I mean, look at the minifigs ), I'm not sure this is the right path to go. One just has to look that the Kingdoms faction logos are much more detailed and sober than previous faction logos...
  5. Spot on Jack Bricker I find myself sometimes wondering about redoing the King Leo's Castle with towers like Kingdoms Joust 10223 or 7946 King's Castle from the current Kingdoms line. Having detailed towers with those beautiful rooftops would make it truly beautiful. Even though making five or 6 towers styled like the ones from 10223 would require alot of bricks

    Irruini Manor

Wow, great work, from top to bottom, building and terrain Even with it's huge size, it has alot of detail, so many points of interest. I wish there was a couple more minifigs to just give the finishing touch to this set. Keep it up
  7. Thanks for another outstanding review SirSven7, it was a pleasure reading, as always I agree with most points you make of course, there was alot of room for improvement regarding the buildings of the whole line. I still think, in my highly biased opinion ( ), that most people ignore the type of castle 6091/6098 was intended to be. Forgetting the aesthetical appreciation subjectivity, it's the Castle with most "towers" I remember, and it's possibly the only one that has a huge tower as it's focus, that includes the largest throne room of all Lego Castles (along with top floors, with a place for the Queen and has a lookout for the archers). The throne room isn't in some wall or side tower, it's the center of the Castle, and it may be weird that it is next to the gate, but with already three levels where the minifigures can go about, another one or inside walls to fix this out of the box was maybe a little too much for the brickcount Anyway, it all could be alot better, maybe this theme / style would fair alot better nowadays with a higher brickcount and the notion that AFOL are willing to pay a bit more for more design quality Once again, awesome review, can't wait for the next one

The LEGO Bull Knights Sets 2000

After thinking a bit, I have to agree with de Gothia. The Bulls may not have the most beautiful or complex sets, but at least they're pretty consistent. I mean, their goal is to siege, and siege weapons they have! That's their thing For me, thematically, the only set that doesn't make sense for The Bulls is Cedric and the Dragon... A Knight of a faction with a bull as a symbol, riding a Dragon, isn't aesthetically pleasing, and it's plain weird

    MOC: Elven Tree House

Oh wow, wow, wow, truly, truly beautiful work Elander Love it, the *only* thing I think it could be improved, IMHO, is the amount of foliage, which I would add a bit more. Other than that, wow

The LEGO Bull Knights Sets 2000

Once again, great review SirSven7 You point out several good points on why this faction could be much more, the main one for me being the lack of a Castle and the repetion of the characters (Cedric, Gilbert and Weezil) over all sets. Maybe if the line went on for more a couple of years we could see the fleshing out of the bulls, even the addition of new armor / weapon pieces as their trademark visual, just like King Leo's soldiers received a new helmet mold. A pitty it didn't.

    Review 6098 King Leo's Castle

Thanks just2good The throne room doesn't have a lot of detail, but *is* imposing. It's the biggest throne room in lego history if I'm not wrong, and with the throne placed in the middle of it and the lion flag as a background, it looks stunning (It reminds me of the Lordaeron Throne room from Warcraft III ). And, each tower actually has some detail. Since their interiors aren't that big, the ammount of detail is just right. MOC: Fortaleza de Lyon

Great work Apple Pi :) Love the wall, the landscape, the mansion and it's interior... Really, awesome MOC! The only *little* thing that bugs me is the colour you used for the top floor of the mansion (dark yellow?).
  13. Like many said, we had a load of those before Kingdoms And it was actually thoughtful on LEGO's part to make a new helmet mold for the knights, since we've been with the same molds for endless years

    The LEGO Fright Knights 1997-1998

Another great overview of a Castle era SirSven7 I agree that the theme is generally bad looking, but as you point out, there are some interesting impulse sets with some good minifigures. But I guess the one thing that first set me against this theme was it's faction symbol. It seems completly detached from the quality logos we've seen in previous factions, and it makes the shields appear cheap. Since the shields are in this faction buildings and minifigures, it weights heavilly for a weak look & feel throughout the line... Anyway, great review!

    Review 6098 King Leo's Castle

Precisely my thoughts Thanks Ardelon One only needs to have the very few buildings of the Knight's Kingdom line to really have enough modules and bricks to make King Leo's Castle much more pleasant from all angles No problem SirSven7, if you look at the set instructions, you can easily understand that eatch tower / section fits in one of the each four corners of the baseplate the same way. Because both towers of the 6094 Guarded Treasure have the same base as the King Leo's Castle towers, they're interchangable between them Well and I'm looking forward to your review on this line, I'm loving all the reviews you post on your blog I'm also curious about your take on the Fantasy Era, I thought most sets were *spectacular*, but the feeling I have is that the community embraced more the Kingdoms (the latest) line more, because of it's more realistic take on the sets architecture.
