    News LEGO Architecture 2013 Discusion

I have been a recurrent reader of Eurobricks since 2005 and keep up to date on everything that gets posted here even though I no longer collect LEGO. I still have a really big LEGO Star Wars collection (Of around +120 sets) but all of them are cleanly and safely packed for the future now. I stopped collecting as my cinephile heart started growing (Along my current DVD/BD Collection) and will study both Political Sciences and Filmmaking in the near future. I just wanted to make a little introduction in case anybody hear remembered me from those good old days (I stopped posting around 2009). I plan to start collecting LEGO Architecture now because the line is incredibly appealing to me and each set brings a huge smile to my face. This thread is usually quite lonely but with the latest reveal of the UN Headquarters set I finally decided to get back into the community and start posting on this thread. I have to admit I own none of the Architecture sets but plan on getting them all eventually. Any good place to start? Also, any upcoming sets that might have been heavily rumored? I wish the Architecture line starts opening up to a wider spectrum of buildings. There are many emblematic buildings around the world that have the potential of making many more great sets.

The Interceptor turned out really great. I think this design improves in about every way I wished for. The X-wing now looks... really good . I am surprised but I think the clearer pics help the set a lot. The engines keep looking a bit small but the additional detail help them come out more prominently. Also, the laser cannons are now longer and way better this time around. The wings seem to be able to fully close this time around. Really happy with what I can see. Now, where is that Y-wing?

LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors

Great to see final packing at last !!! I can't say I am terribly excited just yet. Sure, there are some really nice sets this wave but some of my most anticipated left me cold. The TIE Fighter re-design is clearly the top set of the January wave, it not only has great minifigures but is also the best looking in both, design and accuracy (Or as close as you can get to something like that in a LEGO set). The X-wing, in the other hand, is completely underwhelming. The whole ship doesn't improve much and is another lost opportunity to correct does horrificly sized engines. The designer decided to extend the overall wingspan and ship nose but forgot to re-size the engines. They now look even worse than the last issued. All the rest of the sets are good, especially the Droid Escape, which, although a small one, is a piece I would gladly buy in the correct price-point. Nowdayas, I don't buy sets with the same frecuency I used to do so; some members in these forums even know me from years now, but I have sadly grow apart from my original hobby . That is probably the main reason of why I am loving this little mini-ship concept. All of them look appealing to me and I will happily get them all, small collectibles that will keep me away from completely drifiting apart of a beloved hobby I once strongly supported. Just a last note to anyone who knew me years before I stopped posting frecuently; I didn't stop collecting LEGO SW because I don't like them anymore but, as the time passed on, new experiences and hobbies started to surface and the budget begun to shrink. I still visit Eurobricks every days, just to follow the latest discussions and of course to see how all of you guys are doing .

But the fact that these are licensed sets make them cost more . While the Ninjago Spinners could be sold at a relatively small price these new concept sets should be worthwhile to get our money back. Aside from the Y-wing and X-wing, these new sets are what I am most excited about as I don't collect as much as I did some years ago (Dark Ages ) so small sets are highly welcomed as impulse purchases. If these end up being collectable I might buy them all and display them in my desk or something .

I would actually prefer a Boontha Eve Race set ! Sure, getting Sebulba in another set that just came out isn't the most exciting prospect but I would like the TLC to release more complete podracers in the future. This kind of vehicles are really great looking, it is a shame TLC just seems to care about Sebulba and Anakin's ones. Mirandir, have you seen the size of this sets? Are they MINI scale like those in the Advent Calendar? I would like a cross between MIDI and MINI for these ones.

Now THIS ia a great list of sets ! Finally the TLC is stepping up in the game with new sets for all the audiences. The majority of OT sets is impressive considering the scarcity of the last years. Even thought I own every version of the sets listed, I am extremely excited for the new ones. I especially want to see the new Y-wing. The vehicle is great and a new version can only improve in the last outing which was awesome to begin with .

After re-reading some of these rumors I started wondering something (And would be very thankful if Mirandir can clear it up a bit ). Are these "new" concept sets going to be put together? And in which sense? Are they something more in the vein of the smaller Jabba's Palace sets in the way that can be "connected" or are they similar to the Jedi Defense ones where neither went "together" but complemented each other thematically? Sorry if the questions and/or example are a bit messy but it is really late right now and it seems like I need some sleep .

Here is a pic of the Hasbro set just in case the video takes long to load or something :

So it is a Mustafar-themed set ? Sounds actually really cool. I just wonder if the little "add-ons" will be substantial. I mean, the ETA-2 seems like the highlight or main part of the set but, do the platform actually look like something from Mustafar? Or is it just a random and small dark-grey element?

LEGO Star Wars: The Padawan Menace TV Special

I can't believe how much I enjoyed it ! The animation was great, the subtle sound effects and themes from the OT were really welcomed and the final twist was awesome . Let's hope the TLC will release more of this in the future.

LEGO Exclusive 10221 - Super Star Destroyer

Wow, I didn't thought the set would be so poorly received , I think it looks really good at this point. The bottom is definitely the weakest aspect of the set but it shouldn't be a problem for me, I plan to display the set in a desk shorter than my legs so nobody would notice it. I also like it because of the sheer size of it, in the video the set looks absolutely massive already and most of the time I end more impressed after the build. Every single person who enters in my "Display" room find the Death Star II amazing and I can tell you it isn't because of the stability and all those thing but because of the impact it creates and I like my UCSs sets to make that impact. Even from this very moment I can assure you all my guests will be in love with this set (And so I will ). The price was expected in my opinion. It is a big set, it is a Star Wars set, most Star Wars sets are insanely overpriced now. This set and the Podracers will look amazing in the collection .

    UCS Sandcrawler MOC

This must be the most impressing SW model I have ever seen. Everything from the perfect angled sides, the completely lit interior, the hulking scale of the model to those minor details that give it an authentic feel like the small stairs at the bottom and the converoy belt inside the workshop. Truly a masterful work .

LEGO Star Wars 2011 Pictures & Rumors

I know System-sets are never completely accurate but never since I started collecting the line back in 2001 have I seen such a representation of a vehicle/scene . I don't mind minor inaccuracies like wrong-angled wings in the Snowspeeder or over/minor sized vehicle sections, that doesn't really bother me at all since I have came to undestand that not everything can be exactly replicated and function as a toy at the same time. In this case, however, the designer seems to have just thrown a bunch of random sections together with no coherent relation between them at all. For the TLC to release a LSW set they must first get it approved by Lucasfilms. It is surprising they decided to give this thing a go since everything apart from the minifigures isn't recognizable at all.

LEGO Star Wars 2011 Pictures & Rumors

First, thanks a lot supersonic for the new pic . Back in to the set, I am REALLY dissapointed . Don't really know what the designer of that set was thinking at the time but that bunch of random elements don't even come close to resemble the Hoth Echo Base. The only recognizable scene in the whole set is the Bacta Tank Chamber and that just occupies one corner of the whole thing. Everything else appears absurdly out of place. Random walkway? Random radar dishes everywhere? Random turrets on top of the left wing of the base? It is not a badly designed set on it's own but is a blasphemous attempt at recreating one of the most recognizable battles in the whole saga. The minifigures are pretty good; sure, I wished we got some new characters instead of just one recolored protocol droid but to be honest, minifigures alone don't really sell me a set. They obviously need to be worthwhile but I see the ones included here as such so that not a big issue for me. What is horribly wrong is the base itself. Just after we got some great and truly remarkable playsets in The Battle of Endor and the Home One this comes from nowhere to bring back shame over LSW playsets. In my eyes, this must be the worst designed LSW set so far for the line. Why? Because the designer achieved for the first time in the history of the line to make a set nowhere close in apperance to that of its source material .

LEGO Star Wars 2011 Pictures & Rumors

As a Lego Star Wars collector, I have been waiting for an Executor-Class Star Dreadnought for years ! These must be the best news of the whole year and deffinitely my most anticipated set. I love how the TLC stucked with the original color palette instead of going for the Star Destroyer look. The Executor is dark grey with some blue in it, and this color captures that essence perfectly. The size, the plates at the sides, the comparative Star Destroyer, the minifigures, everything is better than I wished for. To be honest, the only other thing that will make this better is if they include all the Bounty Hunters presented at the boarding scene. This includes Zuckuus and 4-LOM.
