Hello all, I'm having a trouble trying to build a dome on top of an octagonal structure. I don't normally build fully round structures; I've only done one MOC that was round modeled after a skyscraper in Texas (I forgot which city). Since I don''t have much experience with round buildings, I've having an extremely difficult time trying to build a dome top of my structure. I'm trying to make it in LDD as I would in real life but I'm not having any luck. I'm trying to make it look like what I have below but a lot better. Any suggestions or techniques to make this happen?

That looks awesome. What bricks did you use to get the texture?

Fast(er) way to generate LDD instructions
ATonOfBricks replied to TazorLazor's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I've always had problems generating instructions. The smallest model I ever had was about 600+ pieces and it was also the first model I built in LDD, that generated instructions in about a few minutes. Recently, I build a model about 6000+ pieces and it took forever. I left my computer on over night and about 10 hrs later, it wasn't even half way done. The odd part about this is, I thought that the bigger the model is, the longer it takes to generate instructions. Once, it took only a few hours to completely generate instructions for a model that had about 13000+ pieces. -

LDD 4.2.5 is out
ATonOfBricks replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I have to say I'm impressed with the update. I would be part impressed if TLG started manufacturing all of the added parts. I only use parts in my designs that exist. Most of the bricks are discontinued and can be bought through bricklink. A few things that I don't like is that it takes FOREVER to scroll through it. That's not a real complaint but other than that I'm satisfied with it. -
Getting more colors

I see, but its the wrong color. I'm looking for a darker shade of blue, they call it trans-dark blue on bricklink. -
Getting more colors
ATonOfBricks replied to ATonOfBricks's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
It's not in LDD Extended mode -
I normally build large model skyscrapers, and most of my creations are black or blue. However, colors like trans-black (or smoke), and trans-blue isn't available on LDD. How do I get them? I usually use transparent tile, plates or windows covering black or blue bricks. But this way not as detailed.

LDD 5, what features do YOU want?
ATonOfBricks replied to BasOne's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I'm pretty sure that this has already been said, but I want it to handle large models like 15,000 and above. -
[KEY TOPIC] LDD 4 Bugs and brick errors
ATonOfBricks replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Hello, I'm new to eurobricks. Is there anyway to improve the performance of LDD? It crashes a lot. I can't even move the model without it crashing, even on my small models. Also, is there any other Lego software that can handle huge models (around 15,000 to 30,000 bricks)?
