    MOC: HMS GAUNTLET

Regarding the eBay listing, yeah the price is really high, I certainly would not expect to get that much and do have a best offer option, but there is roughly $1100 worth of bricks purchased at brick link in the build. I put it up mainly just for kicks as the listing only cost $1.75 or so, and it relists automatically for free, I have got only one real offer for $1500, I'd likely sell it for $2000 minimum plus shipping.I've since had a child and now am so busy with work and family I rarely get a chance to come on these forums anymore unfortunately. I'm glad you like the ship though, I always get great reactions from people who see it.

MOC: Top Sail Schooner, HMS EMERALD

    Pic added!
  3. Hey all made a ship for the Gauntlet to have in the escort! Small but made with 90% left over parts from the ship of the line build. the stern didn't come out as good as I would have wanted but it will do for the time being. Likely will be making the sails shortly.

    MOC: HMS GAUNTLET

Hey all, so interestingly I sat down with the trash bag of pieces and my tablet with this thread open and got her back together in about an hour and 45 minutes! One broken piece, a robot arm. And one extra 1x1x5 pillar??? No idea where it went but didn't look long as it is late. But BACK IN ACTION! and fixed the GUANTLET sticker to GAUNTLET!

    MOC: HMS GAUNTLET

Update..... Rough seas off the coast if California has caused a ship wreck :-( Or my wife tried to move the gauntlet while cleaning, but I liked the first explanation better. She was moving it while cleaning the house and forgot that it was sectional, the stern and cross section fell a good for feet and blew apart. As I'm pretty busy I won't likely get to rebuild get for a few months. But rest assured it will be done. Likely will re do the rigging and sails. I will try and post a pic of the wreck soon

    MOC: HMS GAUNTLET

Hey everyone, recently purchased a house here in So Cal after a long time looking and finding something both the wife and I liked. Surprisingly she let me put the Gauntlet above the fireplace! Also I was looking around for some art and found this at the naval history mueseum here in the states and ordered a 30x40 print which will be hung behind the ship!

    Ship-of-the-Line Under Construction

Fantastic! Only difficult part is finding where to display it, especially if you have a wife ;-)

    MOC: HMS GAUNTLET

Hey all, The Gauntlet likely will be under going an interior update soon. Thinking about giving her a nice touch of white "paint" through out the upper gun deck and reducing the size of the supports within the decking. Likely to add a capstan and maybe redoing the rigging. Stay tuned as well as I might also try and take the same basic build and create a uss third rater version looking something like the pic below. USS Ohio, likely will give her an alternate name however if finished

    LEGO Napoleonic Wars

We just need Russell Crowe to do another Master and Commander movie :-D
  13. An incredibly ambitious project!!! I agree about possibly cutting a bit of length on her. One way to simplfy this and have both variations would be to make it in sections as mentioned. This way mobility would be easier and also you can have a removable cross section which you could either keep in the ship for your go bigger idea, or remove at will. As long as the mounting points line up. Maybe two removable cross sections to keep the masts in proper alignment. It's great to see an American ship of the line being created. I always admired the photo I have already seen posted in this thread of the U.S.S. Pennsylvania. Its a shame that we had her torched after "worrying," about capture. I just hope you will be putting sails on this beast eventually. Can't imagine how big they will be! I also agree about the cannons and feel a custom approach would be more realistic for a ship of this size, likely less expensive as well. Keep up the good work and can't wait to see how you design the stern! On a last note when I was creating my little "dingy, compared to this!" I posted several pictures of the creation process and took many comments into consideration. Without the help of these boards it likely would have turned out vastly different and not nearly as pleasing. After all, MOC's are one of the main reasons why I'm sure so many people are here.

    How much do Mocs cost?

I spent a little of $1,500 USD on Bricklink for mine, I likely have however about $150 to $250 in spare pieces. I would imagine I have easily 5000+ pieces in the ship itself.
  15. I thought of something already so don't bother ;)
