I recently moved back to my hometown after living abroad for a number of years. Getting my things out of storage, I came across some of my old Lego, rekindling my interest in building.
I always liked the Space Police II theme. One of my first Lego sets was the Rebel Hunter (6897). I liked the black/grey color scheme with the red highlights, and I liked how the prison cells could be shared across the other sets in the theme.
My younger brother had the Solar Snooper (6957) from this same theme. I liked the articulated rover design. I was also disappointed that the theme didn't include a base for the Space Police to use. I decided it would be interesting to create a larger, more robust "mobile base" for the Space Police. I'm calling it the Solar Enforcer.
At this time, the Solar Enforcer includes three sections, each with four pairs of large 54mm wheels. The forward section, which is intended to tow the other sections most of the time, includes a two-level cockpit very much inspired by the Solar Snooper but which is expanded to make room for a third minifigure and computer console. This section has space to store two prison cells. It also has a crane that can be used to move the cells on and off the Enforcer.
The second section, again inspired by the Solar Snooper, has a flying craft that can collapse for transport and expand to pick up and move a prison cell. It also has fuel storage tanks to refuel the flyer and storage bins for tools to maintain the flyer. The third section stores and launches flying drones that can be used for covert surveillance of Blacktron, Spyrius, and other factions that are up to no good. Although the second and third sections are designed to be pulled behind the first section most of the time, each includes a small, exposed driver's seat that can be used to pilot the section independently and more slowly over shorter distances.
Two photos should attach here. I've added some more photos to a Flickr Album . Unfortunately, I don't have too many Space Police II minifigures at this point, so the Exploriens and Unitron are lending a hand. Hope you all enjoy!
