Thanks for the tip. I am going to do somewhat of a hybrid approach. I am going to complete the frame with what i have there (Ie basically connecting the legs) and add in the power functions, and then start working from the outside to the frame. The entire frame is going to be below the floor of the interior spaces, and there are also fairly large gaps inside if you look at the blueprint. Also, to give you a reference, there will be approx 8 studs between the frame and the outer edge of the ship at minimum.

Construction is officially underway. Landing Gear structurally complete and the frame is underway. Waiting for a few BrickLink orders to arrive with more technic blocks. I hope ive ordered enough haha.

So this year i have set a new build in progress. A full minifig, as accurate as possible EBON HAWK. Using the scale of 1:42 (seems to be the most accurate and accepted minifig scale). This will be a fairly big ship, definitely not dwarfed by the USC Millennium Falcon, but will be slightly smaller. Size : Length : 24meters ~ 74 studs long Width : 22.5meters ~ 68 studs wide Height : No Official measurements. Excluding landing gear, calculated, i am looking at approximately 18 studs from lowest point to highest point. Some may recognize the image underneath, and i have just overlayed it with studs. This will be the overall size and dimensions of the build. Another thing that bothers me about mot USC sets, is the lack of power functions. The falcon is huge, detailed and to scale, but where are the power functions? I intend to have the following functions : Raise and lower landing gear raise and lower ramp rotate the central turret Lights possibly rotate the side cannons Thats the start. I intend to create instructions for it to but will see how i go time wise.

Really nice MOC. She looks great. I am just staring a Minifig scale Ebon Hawk. I will post a build log here sometime soon once it starts taking shape.

[MOC] MegaDozer V1
Systemtech replied to Systemtech's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thanks all, I would put it at a pretty decent weight. Definitely on the heavier end of the scale that's for sure but with the gearing and a motor per track, she powers on very very well. but the power contained is quite potent. Lowering the front and rear can lift the entire model off the ground. Just. haha -

Hey all, So this is offically my first MOC since coming out of the "Dark Ages" :p ALOT of refining can be done, and its not my best MOC ever but i think its pretty cool. First time every using Power Functions in a MOC. So here she is, A mega dozer. Features include a single sBrick with 2 XL motors and 2 M motors as well as 2 lights and 4 LA's and 8 soft suspensions. I will post a video in the next few days with the movements etc. 90% of the non-PF parts are from 42055 as thats the majority of my parts on hand. suspension is all independant based on a pair of verticle wheels. It can be refined and strengthened but works well. The front and rear both raise and lower and a XL motor drives each track, so with the sBrick turning and driving is awesome. Here are some pics : Access Ladder down Suspension : Easy battery access and removal : Flat 12 cylinder engine: Fronty lowered : Rear down : -
[MOC/MOD] 42064 Ocean Explorer as a Technic Set

I agree with all 3 points here. Especially the engine. Rather do everything else and leave the engine off. That way you can still fit the BB under the fore deck. -

Very very cool ideas here. I agree on trying to stick to a C-model but the features your adding are very cool. One question. Why hide the engine with the battery? I know its the only logical place to put it, but maybe do away with one of them? -
