MOC: BOC Gas & Gear Store

I must say, I don't post often - just tend to lurk, but this WIP is completely awesome!! As an AFOL I must say this is inspiring! I'd love to be able to find some local stores or what have you and model them myself (I just don't have enough bricks for that yet.) Constructive comments, I wasn't too sure about th eheight rebuild at first, but the more I look at the pics the more it is growing on me. I guess most stores like this, Advanced Auto, NAPA, etc. all have high ceiling heights. So, I guess this is sticking true to real life. Other than that, great build. Definitely love the loading dock...shame it's so hard to find the garage pieces these days.

    LDD MOC: Remote Radio Station

Cool WIP! A little bit of a color change, add a desk and another person inside and this would be great for use as some kind of remote recon type structure in a military MOC! Good job!
  3. Sweet, thanks so very much guys. But, there was a vintage piece that had that knob instead of hole on the bottom...shame it isn't still available making the whole technique not needed. But, in any case this method certainly does what I need...thanks!
  4. I am trying to find a part like I had in some of my sets several years ago. It is just like the roof tile (1x1x2/3, PC) in LDD, however instead of the underside having the hole it had a knob instead. Many people use it on their MOC vehicles, particularly in the wheel wells. I can't seem to locate this piece and I'm wonderinging if anyone knows the part number or if this piece is actually in LDD (original or Universal mode.) Yes, I've used the search feature and I've Googled the part and can't find it or the part number. Here is a picture of the part I'm referring to. (pic is of a LDD from Richard Yang here. If this piece is no longer available (which I fear may be the case) does anyone know of a technique that I can use to accomplish the same thing within the same space constraints (any pics you can post would be helpful if describing a different technique.) Thanks in advance.
  5. Hello all. My name is Jason and I'm a Lego-holic! I've loved Legos since my parents introduced them to me when I was about 7 or 8. It's been downhill ever since. LOL Once I got to about 13 or so, I lost track of my Legos and didn't play with them until recently. I've recently started to introduce them to my own children now. I also rediscovered my love of them in the process. We are currently building our collection (courtesy of eBay, Craigslist and the occassional brand new set.) In the process, I've discovered LDD, LDD Manager and Bricklink, and I'm really loving being able to visualize a potential project and then upload it to see the EXACT price if I were to buy the pieces new. I am amassing quite a large folder full of digital renderings and I'm afraid I'll need 3 or 4 years salary to afford all of the bricks we'll need. LOL Anyway, hello to all and thanks for welcoming me "back" into the community (I sound like an Amish kid just back from Rumspringa.)
  6. First off, congrats to being my first post. I've just recently gotten back in to LEGOs since being a kid (quite a few moons ago ) and I've been surfing the MOC sites, Flikr, etc. looking for ideas and inspiration for stuff I can now build with my kids. (To keep a fight from happening, I told the ex-wife I was spending the money to buy LEGOs for the kids to have something to play with at my house, but let's face it we all bought this stuff for ourselves and just ALLOW our kids to play with some of it! ) I have chosen this to be my first post on any of the MOC sites where I'm commenting on someone else's build. With that said, oh my god...I can't beleive this MOC!! The sheer size of this thing is enormouse. I'd love to be able to get a closer look at some of it and even see pics if you have started the build process. Heck, if my building skills in LDD get good enough and detailed enough to meet your stringent quality standards I'd even love to maybe contribute an LDD building, vehicle or two. Like I said, truly amazing...wow!!
