Storage - are the plastic Lego bags airtight?
PirateSi replied to PirateSi's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Thank you all for your replies. Storage is a real problem for everyone! -
Hi all, I am slowly collecting new sets for when my kids are bigger. I am recycling the boxes but keeping everything else sealed as it comes. I have been trying to find out if the plastic bags Lego comes packed in are airtight or not? Will they keep the Lego safe long term from moisture? I have seen some suggestions on the Internet the air can be squeezed out but this doesn't seem to work for me. I either need to move stuff into the attic in plastic boxes or start putting a hole In the bags to fit more in boxes in the house. I will not put instructions or stickers in the attic, just bricks in their bags. I live in the uk so the attic doesn't have extreme temperatures and doesn't visibly suffer from moisture but it would be gutting to go back to these in years to come and find them damaged. Any opinions are greatly appreciated, my instinct is to avoid the attic. Thanks!

Technic racks

I have managed to get hold of two of the newer 1 x 4 and tested them attached to a plate. Seems to work but I will need to build the whole set to confirm. Thanks for all the opinions, nice to know you can get help when you need it -

Thank you drjb, the instructions call for them to be connected to a plate anyway. You think they will run through the mechanism in the same way as the older part? They appear the same to me other than the border alongside the teeth -
Technic racks

Thank you! I am going to blame that on using my phone to post rather than a computer. The original piece seemed to cost twice as much as 5 of the smaller which was why I asked the question. I have not tried to use bricklink before. The prices seem much better there. I will look into it. I do have the part it fits into and suspected that might be the problem but i don't have the newer piece to try and run through it. I think such a classic set probably deserves a few quid for the replacement part. Cheers! -
Hi all, First post, sorry if this is in the wrong place, it is technic part related so seemed the right place! I am rebuilding old lego and I have destroyed the 20 x 1 technic rack from the space police mission commander. Part 2428. The part is quite different in looks to the more modern technic racks, 3743. Would it be possible to replace the missing part with 5 of part 3743, will they serve the same function? Thanks in advance
