gerkenz Posted November 18, 2012 "Galaxy Squad" has to wait - "ADU" is still alive! After 13 bricklink.com orders I finally finished my long avaited ADU Mech. I saw the very cool COUNTERBLAST from Mark Stafford at Skaerkbaek and talked to Megan Rothrock to show it to me in detail. I made some pictures and prepared to "reverse enginer" this well designed mech but Megan told me there will be an instruction in her "LEGO Adventure book". So I had to spend some bricklink-hours to get all partsf for 2 mechs. That's really not as easy as I thought because the "wanted lists" are cool but not perfect. See all picture at: http://www.gerkens.org/ If you like to get the bricklink part list, feel free to send an pm. Hope you like it.
Laura Beinbrech Posted November 18, 2012 Nice! I've seen Mark's various Counterblast mechs on Flickr, and you did a perfect job of re-creating the design in ADU colors.
DraikNova Posted November 18, 2012 Awesome! Good spreading of the colours.
vynsane Posted November 18, 2012 I dig these so much, very ED-209ish. I want the book, too - great builders in there. It's cool to see variants of these unofficial official models!
Hrw-Amen Posted November 19, 2012 That looks quite nice for the ADU, not a fan of mechs normally but that one is good.
gerkenz Posted November 20, 2012 (edited) Thanks, yes the design is great and gives a lot options for modifications. I'm going to create some alternate arms or maybe a complete other more massive mech. Edited November 20, 2012 by gerkenz
ETAV8R Posted November 20, 2012 AWESOME! I can definitely see that fighting the tripod invaders on city streets. So the instructions are available somewhere?
soccerkid6 Posted November 21, 2012 Very nice mech! You nailed the ADU colorscheme
gerkenz Posted November 21, 2012 AWESOME! I can definitely see that fighting the tripod invaders on city streets. So the instructions are available somewhere? Yes, in the book "Lego Adventure book". ;-) I would love to see all your Counterblast creations in this thread. :-D
Vindicare Posted November 22, 2012 That is awesome! I would definitely buy that if I saw it on the shelf. Great job, looks perfect in ADU colors.
gerkenz Posted November 25, 2012 (edited) I was asked about the part list to build this beautiful mech. I created one for the original red mech. log into your bricklink account open the wanted list mass upload (XML) page click on this link Red Counterblast XML Partlist and copy go back to bricklink and paste the XML code now you've got your wanted list of parts Important hints: You don't need to get an orange 2x2 plate ( 3022 ) - every color will do because it's not visible You don't need to get a printed tile round 1x1 ( 98138pb06 ) - every color will do because it's not visible be prepared to order in about 10-14 shops :-( Show your Counterblast in this thread, please! :-) Edited November 25, 2012 by gerkenz
Brickmeister General Posted November 25, 2012 I've been lurking here for about a year since coming out of my dark age, and this Mech was cool enough to prompt me to register! I loved the Alien Conquest line, and thought it was a shame that it ended after only one set of releases. I thought your mech in ADU colours looks superb, and I might even be tempted to use bricklink for the first time to assemble my own! Thanks a lot for sharing it. Dannylonglegs Posted December 8, 2012 Oh my gods, that's gorgeous! The Mech looks beautifully functional while still looking cool! I love the chicken legs too! Good call! Very well done! Si-MOCs Posted December 8, 2012 Great job ADUifying Mark's Mech I'd write some more praise, but I'm too busy laughing at that last picture
vynsane Posted January 26, 2013 Show your Counterblast in this thread, please! :-) Thanks for sharing the parts list! I reverse-engineered it based on yours and Nabii's pics into this Galaxy Patrol Spec Counterblast Mech: Counterblast Mech, Galaxy Patrol Spec by vynsane, on Flickr
DraikNova Posted January 26, 2013 Wow. That's a pretty awesome version Vynsane.
A Plastic Infinity Posted January 26, 2013 Nice, The reverse articulation in the legs is masterfully done.
vynsane Posted January 27, 2013 Wow. That's a pretty awesome version Vynsane. Thanks, DraikNova! It's pretty much a bone stock variation of Nabii's design with some extra weaponry and a different paint job. The only other modification I made was to add two more plates to the height of the cockpit, because I didn't like how laid back the pilot had to sit, and some additional controls therein. ervinsim Posted January 27, 2013 (edited) Anyone else tried using the BL parts list kindly provided by gerkenz? I seem to have an error with one of the items, <ITEM> <ITEMTYPE>P</ITEMTYPE> <ITEMID>98138pb06</ITEMID> <COLOR>86</COLOR> <MINQTY>1</MINQTY> </ITEM> Anyone has any idea what it is? Oh and galaxy patrol woot woot. Edited January 27, 2013 by ervinsim
vynsane Posted January 27, 2013 (edited) ^ That's the printed 1x1 round tile. Gerkenz post specifies that it needn't be the printed version, as it's not visible in the final build. As a matter of fact, I don't remember even using one in my version, printed or otherwise :/ For the record, though, I think it's supposed to be 983138pb006, not pb06.
