With 1/2 this set comprising of Technic pieces I figure this was the best place to post.

This build has stayed much the same as when I created it a few years back on a rainy Sunday afternoon.

The good news is it's up on Cuusoo now. If you like the design then why not give it a vote.

Supported. These are really cute and, even better, it is a unique type of project.

Was this on display at BrisBricks?

Amazingly realistic.. even when one stops.. and another one 'bumps' it back into action!

well done!

Are you using standard lego magnets, or did you need to resort to rare-earth ones?

Yes it was at BrisBricks, BrickExpo and Brickvention this year.

Standard LEGO magnets like those used in the 9volt trains and also the SW star destroyer.

Fantastic, attaching magnets to a long looped chain is a great idea!

It might be a little hard to tell but there is actually a 2nd chain underneath that distributes the load.

So there is actually two drive points along the long chain with the magnets.

This is an excellent idea and well executed as well! I especially like how they always manage to get back on track after bumping into each other..
