Build your own LEGO Pirates Animal Battle Pack Survey

Information & Frequently Asked Questions

This survey will end Saturday 22 September at 23:59:59 UTC+0.00

Imagine if the LEGO Group released Animal Battle Packs for themes!

This idea has been discussed amongst LEGO Ambassadors but now it's your turn to provide some speculative input...

The Mission

Determine the ideal LEGO Pirates Animal Battle Pack!

Each animal has been assigned a number of points so you can choose any selection of animals you like, providing the total of points doesn't exceed 14.

You may have less than 14 points if you wish.

Also, feel free to provide your location and age as the LEGO Group finds demographic information useful.

New Animals

There are also some new animals marked in red but feel free to suggest more (in this thread), each with its own point allocation. The animal must be voted for by at least five people before it is added to the list.

So if someone suggests a new animal you like, SAY SO!

But please only suggest animals that could debut in the LEGO Pirates theme like the monkey and shark did. Livestock such as chickens, cows, sheep, pigs, etc. are out because they are too general and could easily fit into a wide variety of LEGO themes.

And don't use any of your own suggestions until they've been added to the list

What will happen with this Information?

It will be passed onto the LEGO representatives but there is no guarantee any suggestion will be used, nor will anybody receive acknowledgement or reward for anything that gets used. So don't expect to receive your Animal Battle Pack in the mail!

How do I start?

Ask all your questions in this thread! Suggest any new in this thread!

Otherwise, visit the Build your own Pirate LEGO Animal Battle Pack - Survey thread to start.

You may submit ONE Battle Pack per week

New animal: small capuchin monkey, 1 Point.

Useful for every pirat, especially Captain Barbossa.

Hi! Every time I go to submit my battle pack, Eurobricks says it cannot determine what thread/topic this goes too... any ideas?

So how would you make that noticeably different to the existing LEGO monkey? I assumed the existing monkey was supposed to represent a Capuchin.

We need a concept artist! :pir-classic:

Animal packs I think would be a great and popular seller. A Pirate one would be most welcome. :shark:

There are some interesting new animal possibilities, I like the whale and seagull additions.

How about a Kraken/Giant Squid? Or would that be too big? I would imagine something in similar size to a smaller species of whale?

Capuchin +1

I'm finding I have to use the chimp out of the CMF series, and that just doesn't cut it.

Well there is already a LEGO Octopus (picture below) and that's quite large in comparison to the size of minifigures. In terms of a Battle Pack you wouldn't want something too big otherwise it would be too expensive or have less animals.

Capuchin +1

2 votes for Capuchins!

One more vote for the capuchin.

3 votes and Capuchins have been added to the 1 point list!

Might I ask why the large shark is not on the list?

It's a size issue - they're too big. The idea is to create a realistic Animal Battle Pack comparable to the existing minifigure Battle Packs.

You'll observe the current LEGO Pirates Battle Pack doesn't have any overly large elements, presumably because that would be too cost prohibitive.

Put a large shark in there and that pretty much occupies half the Battle Pack.

Ah, it's a shame though. The regular sharks are a dime a dozen.

If anything, I'd love to see new or uncommon elements in the battle pack.

If you read the first post you'll have observed there are ideas for new animals plus the opportunity to suggest your own.

So could you please be more specific when you say "new or uncommon elements"?

It got away from us, but we got it back.

You never know - if enough interest was expressed anything could happen!

Would a stingray and poisonous jelly fish be appropriate battle pack animals?

What about a sea serpent? I remember seeing a version similar to the old style dragon in some old Lego prototype photos.

The other new ideas I had are already listed.

Ahab out . . .

What about a Mermaid / Man? I guess that is half Mini-fig but also sort of animal, I assume it would be a 5 point one.

I'd also like to see a large Kraken but I assume that for it to be size effective and realistic it would have to be its own set, a bit like the new LOtR Shelob creature size and complexity.

Thinking of ports where pirates operate either around or from, yes a tiger would fit well, but so would so many other Asian/African large animals like an elephant, Rhino etc so it could almost double as a safari battle pack. But yes I second Tiger.

And Jellyfish.

Allthough I really want more dolphins I didn't select it now, I saw Jaguar and I was sold :pir_laugh2:

I figured it might be too large for a battle pack . :pir-blush:

One new animal, that I think would fit with the jungle animals would be a wild boar/pig. Larger and more robust than the domestic pig with tusks and a fur color/pattern.

Okay. Can I request a necessary pet accessory for the one-point list?

t230.png

Parrot shoulder bracket - Also good for shoulder mounted anything. Alternatively, there could be a new version of the epaulette with studs - but in this age of minifigure detail and diversity, pirates deserve to have their parrots in the proper place.

That's a pretty neat idea, and has a few other uses... space minifigs could use them for shoulder mounted laser cannons. Also for customised pauldrons. (spellchecker, how do you not know the word 'pauldron'? You are dismissed.)

I think they'd have to be in transparent though, or black or brown...

New animal, 5 points: Sea Serpent, a classic enemy for pirates and any who sail the seas since the time of the early Greeks. Since it would have to be long and thin, it might have some mechanical problems, unless it was molded into a upright shape with possibly one point of motion.

So my list would be one of uncommon animals:

Sea Serpent

Turtle

Narwhal

Crab

However, I do love the idea of a shoulder bracket. I don't suppose we could give a pirate a pet crab :pir_laugh2:?

Please submit your Battle Packs in the Survey Thread

Yes, they would! They just need 2 more votes each to be approved.

Three votes! Parrot shoulder brackets are in!

New animal, 5 points: Sea Serpent

Good idea! But once again it needs 3 votes before you can use it, plus your Battle Pack Submission needs to go in the survey thread

Also, you may submit one Battle Pack per week in the Survey Thread
