A Guide To Tree Building

65 posts in this topic

Having seen several ways to build Trees, I thought I would gather a few links together.

If you want to help, just post a link or suggest new methods.

If a new method is posted I will try to update the list as soon as possible : -

Whilst it's a good idea to have a tree resource, perhaps you could research up more than two techniques when starting a thread? Maybe even post some tutorial pictures yourself :classic:

The Flickr group, LEGO Arboretum is a one stop shop for cool trees and shrubbery. I will add it to your post.

Cheers

ISC.

^ Sorry I'm a bit slow gathering my links. Next time I will gather my info before posting a topic.

At some point I will contribute my own method if I discover one that seems worthy.

I have got you started with a few pics and links, see what cool things you can find. Keep up the good work.

I don't really get why this topic is in the GoH Forum. It would be much better to have it in the LEGO Historic Themes Forum.

I thought the same, as I looked at this thread the first time.

As usual many people all do the same thing:

LEGO LandScape group on Flickr

LEGO Palm Trees group on Flickr

Brick Bonsai group on Flickr

In addition to the LEGO Arboretum above.

And that was just 30-40 seconds of searching on Flickr.

Hopefully this thread can help bring sanity but might I suggest it is in the wrong place. Buried in Eurobricks Forums > Themes > LEGO Historic Themes > Guilds of Historica rather than something a little more general may not be the best place for it unless you are only interested in trees built for the GoH project.

This looks promising but should probably not be guild specific...I'll move it to the main forum.

And add this:

well... I;ve used up a half of hour writing this post for thread: "A guide to tree building", but now it seems it disapeared... I will post it here, and if it was moved, this post could be to, I suppose... if not, there are few links to the "building how to" :)

here's an article from Antony Sava: link, named: "Creating trees and foliage"

here's an instruction from Monteur: link, named: "Trees"

I do like this big tree design by Paultox a lot. It has shamefully few votes in Cuusoo. There's also

in Youtube.

I liked his tree so much that I have spent all afternoon building one; it is brilliant.

The tree is really well designed; it has great durability for a display.

It is so good that I went to Cuusoo and voted for it.

Great list of techniques!

Shouldn't this be in the LEGO General Discussion & News forum? Seems to me that it applies to a lot more than just Historic Themes, such as Pirates, Town, etc.

And maybe it should be linked to from the first post of the Advanced Building Techniques thread in that forum. Although that post hasn't been edited in a while.

Ugh, that's the problem with discussion boards -- if it's not stickied, it disappears from view unless someone bumps it.

@ Jareth if you can get a better shot of your Giant tree I can list it.

Sorry...It's been broken down. To be honest, the top of the tree wasn't that great. I don't own enough branch pieces. Allthough, maybe I could do a brick based crown instead of a branch based one.....hmmm....

I would like to see more trees with grey trunks so that is shame Jareth.

I would also like to see some more tan coloured round bricks used to help expand the tree designs. :sweet:

Edit: Oops bad spelling.

I really hope the video also helps others to build my trees!

I built a new tree today. It's an autumn birch!

For all the LEGO purists out there; close your eyes! It has non-LEGO yellow leave parts:
