Hello!

Here is my little bit for the community build.

This is my first big LDD project and it was somewhat frustrating but in the end a very fun and interesting experience.

This is a chess set with a storage box for the pieces/minifigures. The board is supposed to go on top but my computer kept lagging everytime so I gave up.

The Board

On the 'light' side:

Pawns: Gungans (they seem to be the main army in EP I)

Bishops: C-3PO and R2-D2

Knights: Qui Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi

Rooks: N-1 Starfighters (I used the design from the planet set)

Queen: Padme

King: Little Anakin (Maybe not the best choice, but it seemed fitting)

On the 'dark' side:

Pawns: Droids

Bishops: Nute Gunray and Lott Dod (Had a struggle finding another bishop)

Knights: Drokeidas (They aren't completely built because it wouldn't fit with their legs)

Rooks: Vulture Droids (Design from the recent MINI with different colours)

Queen: Darth Maul (Hesitant but it fits with the king figure)

King: Darth Siduous (Hologram because I don't think he was ever physically present in the movie, and because it looks cool  )

Storage Box

Main feature is that one side opens where you can put the chess pieces inside.

(Initial on the corner )

I also put mosaics on the other three walls:

Hope you guys like it!

And Hopefully LEGO will make a StarWars Chess set soon

I attached a lxf file if anyone wants to bother looking at it.

First picture links to my flickr account if you want to check it out there.

Thank you!

Very nice. However, I have two main issues. The Droid Fighters are quit over-sized. I know that you probably wanted to make them the same size as the NAboo N-1 Starfighters, but it still looks a bit disproportionate. The other issue is that Darth Maul looks slightly - for use of a better word - constipated. I think it's the placement of the eyes. Try moving them to the center and see if he looks more evil. Hope this helps, and nice job! :classic:

Awesome chess set! Gungans and Battle Droids as pawns works well. :classic:

Thank you for pointing out those two points!

I wasn't trying fit a scale for the rook pieces but I may make the Vulture Droid a bit smaller.

I had a bit of a trouble with the placement of the eyes. I started with it at the center but surprisingly it looked more awkward. I'll work on that a bit more too.

I'm glad you liked the rest of it! :sweet:

Oh yes, I'd buy it. Good choices on the figs.

Thank you! :sweet:

Excellent, I was thinking about the same project with the old trilogy! :classic:

I'm glad you like it!

I think I'm just going to make similar chess sets for the next two community builds.
