ER0L Posted March 22, 2012 V-LV-66F & B-V-15F Hi all, after all the cool cars for Steph and her Friends now for something hot, rather a mixture between a rod and a dragster. The cabin is 6 studs wide - to get a smooth cab like this as a 7-wide seemed too difficult to me. Some specs: Very big block V8 with cosmetic ignition 2 openable suicide doors Detachable roof Fits (sadly only) one minidoll I think you can guess the name of Steph's rat As an addition 2 photos of some Cars furniture (this is what a motor head has in mind when thinking about indoor design ). C&C welcome as usual. Thanks for looking. Pictures are linked with Flickr.
dosto_tube Posted March 22, 2012 It seems very fast. Cool creation.
AussieJimbo Posted March 22, 2012 Very nice, ER0L. The furniture is great too. :classic:
lightningtiger Posted March 22, 2012 AWESOME hot rod 'ER0L' , lipstick spark plugs.....what will they think of next ? Furniture is quite AWESOME too......Brick On with your Friend's 'ER0L' !
Redhead1982 Posted March 22, 2012 I like the furniture more than the car. It looks great to modify part of a car into a sitting area, I've seen it in some bars before. And the Cars parts are used nicely this way. Well done.
robuko Posted March 22, 2012 Simply inspired. Well played, the lipstick is genius but the whole thing is great. The manifolds, lowline roof and the ducktail all stand out, while the cars chairs are a massive win.
gotoAndLego Posted March 22, 2012 These are all great.
Mr Copperhead Posted March 22, 2012 Very cool! I love what you're doing for these dolls, the lifestyle change is dramatic
SeanM Posted March 22, 2012 This is the cleanest 'rat' rod I've ever seen Great design!
LEGO Guy Bri Posted March 22, 2012 Awesome Rat Rod ER0L! Seems like a lot of car for a young lookin' girl... That big block looks awesome and I like how you attached the wheels. Does it roll well? Great build
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted March 22, 2012 Very good MOC! The red wheels are beautiful!
ER0L Posted March 23, 2012 It seems very fast. Cool creation. Thanks a lot dosto_tube! I suppose it's fast, I haven't seen Steph for quite a while now, she's on the road. Very nice, ER0L. The furniture is great too. :classic: Thanks a lot AussieJimbo. Glad you like the furniture, too. AWESOME hot rod 'ER0L' , lipstick spark plugs.....what will they think of next ? Furniture is quite AWESOME too......Brick On with your Friend's 'ER0L' ! Many thanks lightningtiger. Glad you like both MOCs. Well, there are still some ideas ... I like the furniture more than the car. It looks great to modify part of a car into a sitting area, I've seen it in some bars before. And the Cars parts are used nicely this way. Well done. Thanks a lot Redhead1982. Glad you like the furniture. Yeah, there are quite similar armchairs in some bars. Some people told me it reminds them of Top Gear, a British TV show, where they seem to have something like this, but I haven't checked this out yet. Simply inspired. Well played, the lipstick is genius but the whole thing is great. The manifolds, lowline roof and the ducktail all stand out, while the cars chairs are a massive win. Many thanks robuko for your kind words. Yeah, one of my main aims when building a car is to keep a low stance in order not to "dwarf" the figs too much. These are all great. Many thanks gotoAndLego! Very cool! I love what you're doing for these dolls, the lifestyle change is dramatic Many thanks Mr Copperhead. Yes, I think it is great fun to play with this subject. When you check out LegoMyMamma's LEGO Friends Group on Flickr you see that there are many very inspired Friends MOCs already (I don't mean my own stuff). This is the cleanest 'rat' rod I've ever seen Great design! Many thanks SeanM, glad you like it. You are right - it obviously is too clean. There were several changes with this MOC, as usual - in the beginning there was some brown in it instead of read to make it look rusty. But this looked rather odd in combination with the doll. So I added Rod the Rat to keep the whole thing a Rat Rod . Awesome Rat Rod ER0L! Seems like a lot of car for a young lookin' girl... That big block looks awesome and I like how you attached the wheels. Does it roll well? Great build Many thanks Lego Guy Bri! Well, yes, it's a big car, but she seems to like it. - The rod rolls very well, since it has technic axles. Very good MOC! The red wheels are beautiful! Many thanks LEGO Train 12 Volts! Very good work! Thanks a lot snaillad!

Laura Beinbrech Posted March 26, 2012 As someone who has dreams of one day building their very own rat-rod (or at the very least a 1940's/1950's style car), I love this! The lipstick plugs is one of the best uses I've seen for that element. Your creation definitely captures the Rat-rod look!

I kinda forget sometimes that, since this is a CONSTRUCTION toy forum, I should be a bit more specific when I say about building something: What I meant was that I was hoping someday to build a REAL rat-rod out of metal and stuff , which isn't an impossibility, considering that the mechanic I take my car to for major repairs also builds and races late-model stock cars.... I am also planning on EVENTUALLY making some kind of classic/steampunk car/rat-rod in LEGO, but currently time and part inventory does not permit it.
Vindicare Posted March 27, 2012 Awesome car! I love ratrods, and you did a great job here with the necessary details.
ER0L Posted March 27, 2012 Awesome car! I love ratrods, and you did a great job here with the necessary details. Many thanks Legocrazy81. I love them very much, too. They are archaic vehicles where everything is reduced to an absolute minimum - except for the main part of a car: the motor. So they remind us of the original idea of driving. Again, many thanks all for commenting and looking!

Wow - I'd say this is even better than only a small Lego rod! Good to know somebody like your mechanic then - otherwise you'll find yourself spending more time under your rod than in it! Steampunk rod sounds interesting - I thought of something like that at the beginning when this rod had some brown accents instead of red ones. But then the whole thing went in a different direction. Looking forward to your steampunk rod! Love the rat rod Many thanks escortmad79! Glad you like it. Again, thanks a lot all. The rod was quite a success, not only here, so I am very happy with it. Still, there has been some criticism, especially concerning the front axle which surely can be improved. So I will rework quite a few things and then add it to my cars thread, together with some other vehicles still missing there.

Cirkit Posted April 5, 2012 Oh my gosh, they killed Mater! Don't really care about that Lightning guy, but poor Larry! :P Being serious, I love the rod. The red parts sticking out the engine look like lipstick. Are those lipstick pieces? If so, awesome. The whole car fits the Friends girl theme while still looking fierce, fast, and fabulous, and I must say Stephanie looks at home in her new (or old) ride. Can't say I know that rat's name. Is it Phil? :P
