WIP City Hospital

Recommended Posts

Here are some pictures of what I have built so far:

Looking at the overview image, the ambulance bay is off to one side with the ambulance entrance just visible at the bottom of the picture (you can just see the red window frames)

The small item at the bottom is the elevator

Next to the elevator is the trauma room and on the other side in the small space will be something I haven't yet decided on (maybe shelves full of medical gear?)

The space next to the trauma room is where the normal ER beds will go.

In the space near the main doors will be the waiting area where people wait to be seen and facing the main doors and in front of the large support column will be the admin/admit desk.

On the second floor will be a large OR for my Series 6 surgeons to perform operations in, a radiology room (CT scanner/X-Ray/etc), main ward and doctors lounge.

On the third floor (which will only cover part of the structure) there will be a plant room (backup generator etc) and a med lab for doing testing with a helipad taking up the rest of the second floor roof.

I will be using white for the walls and windows with a bunch of tan to be used because I dont have enough white for the job. Roof/floor colors will be whatever color I have enough parts in (first floor roof is already build and is part black and part light bley).

Wish the 8 x 16 and 16 x 16 plates were easier to obtain :(

I do plan to build an ambulance and most likely a helicopter to go with this hospital.

Anyone with feedback on this, please feel free to let me know.

Not bad so far 'jonwil', your problem with the ceiling is quite simple.....white plates to fit between the walls and the next floor are plates on top of those ceiling ones.

I look forward to your progress.....Brick On ! :classic:

The structure is now pretty much finished, now I need to do all the detailing and interior.

The room next to the elevator is the office of the hospital administrator

The 2 big areas are the main wards (some beds of which will be ICU beds)

The area at the bottom is the medical lab

The small area is the medical stores

The large area at the top is the plant room (which will feature the backup generator for the hospital and the hospital waste incinerator)

Any comments (or suggestions of what equipment/detailing/etc should go into the various rooms) would be appreciated

At the heliport would be larger elevator, if there are going to the emergency room with a stretcher.

In a standard elevator in the hospital must enter a hospital bed with a patient.

yeah I know the elevator should be larger but I ran out of room in the lower floors to make it any bigger :)

Just pretend that its actually large enough to take the patient from the helipad to the ER :)

second option is to relocate the helipad on the ground and build another room

So far so good.

In my opinion, either move the elevator over near the rest of the top floor (giving you more room for manouverabilty for those

air ambulances) or move the helipad to the ground... or do both.... or do neither, its yours afterall.

When my desk was at a different window, it looked out over the helipad of a major trauma hospital. The helicopters would come and go all day long. As in your design, the helipad is on the roof.

There's no need to be rude. Constructive criticism is welcomed, but if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it. That applies to everything, not just this topic.

You certainly have a great start. It looks like you're going for realism and accuracy, you really should rethink the elevator. It looks great with all the rooms and everything, but the elevator is a vital part of the hospital. Nobody would be able to get to the OR if they can't get the gurney in there. Evrything else is looking really good. I look forward to seeing this monster in it's final beauty.

Thanks for all the great comments. The only reason I didn't make the elevator larger is that I didn't have the room to do it. And I wont be moving the elevator either because I dont have the room to do that either.

As for the helipad, I intend to re-do that with a red H (smaller than the current yellow H) and white cross like in all the photos I see on Google.

I would be interested in an outside shot of the whole building. Will it be just plain walls or are you planning on doing some more 'elaborate' facade and exterior details?

Looking forward to all the apparatus and furniture you'll come up with!
