2006 and 2007 were both great years from what I see with some notable sets, the 62xx line of 2006 is especially great, but 2007 had the UCS Falcon plus a good all-around selection of sets.

If one thinks about the single greatest year to buy Lego Star Wars it would have been 2008, everything converged on that year, where arguably the three best Star Wars sets were available; 10030, 10179 and 10188!, plus all the sets from 2006-2008, maybe even the 10144 Sandcrawler and 10143 Death Star II.

2000 was also a good year, with the advent of the UCS series, as well as the first Falcon.

I have a feeling that 2012 will also be considered a great year for Star Wars, with the incredible winter line-up already released, plus all the great summer sets with Jabba's Palace, the Skiff and Gungan sub, hopefully the UCS sets will also be memorable. I'll be voting for this year, if only to make me feel better about all those years I've missed....

2006 for the same reason as StoutFiles. Every set that year was pure awesome

Anymore room on the wagon? For the same reasons 2006, 05 and 03 come a close 2nd

Hmm... tough choice!

1999 was the year I introduced myself to LEGO Star Wars, with the simple yet appealing Landspeeder.

Despite having a relatively simple design, the A-Wing of 2000 appeals to me (and has no stickers, unlike the 2006 version).

2002 brought lots of new curves and angles into LEGO sets in general, and I really like the Jedi Starfighter.

2003 had the Minis and the T-16 Skyhopper. I really liked those.

2005's Episode III sets (especially the Droid Tri-Fighter) were very well designed in my opinion (except for the stickers).

I enjoyed 2006's V-Wing Fighter.

2007 brought the UCS Millennium Falcon, which I enjoyed building with my dad over many weekends.

2010 had the awesome TIE Defender.

In the end, I chose 2003, since that's the year in which I own the most LEGO Star Wars sets.

I'm more into Clone Wars from these series and a big minifig fan, so I'd have to go with either 2010 or 2011. All the cool characters from the series that were released in these years ... but I think 2010 wins it for Aayla and Bane!

I'll have to go with 2004, since that was when I really started to get into Lego Star Wars, with the Mos Eisley Cantina.

Not to get all hipster on you ("Their first album was better!") but I gotta say 1999. That was before my dark ages, and I got nearly the entire first wave (looking back I wonder how the hell I afforded it all), so there's significant nostalgia value. I remember saving up all summer to get the Mos Espa Podrace and TIE Fighter & Y-Wing sets and staying up late into the night building them.

2008 was my favourite. The Death Star came out then as well as the CW sets which look pretty awesome (apart from the minifigures :sceptic::tongue: )

I agree, LOTF. Maybe 2013 could prove to be better (Especially if it has Nightsisters sets :wub_drool: ), but 2008 is the winner for me.

'03. The MINI sets came out, and there were a number of OT sets with rarer minifigs (Skyhopper pilot, Jabba, Bib Fortuna, Dagobah Luke, yellow Slave Leia, etc.), plus only three of the System sets were PT, and those were all sets I wouldn't mind having. (big grey Technic wheels, original Clones clones, and original Geonosians) And even though I don't have it, I think the '03 AT-AT was the best AT-AT TLG's done yet.

I'm certain there has been a similar thread in the last year, but I can't for the life of me find it :sceptic:. Anyway 1999 for me.

2011, because TLC gave a free 10221-UCS Super Star Destroyer to our magazine for review.

I went with 2007, but '06-'08 were all good years. The 6200 series and 7600 series were great. 10179 just pushes it over the top, greatest set of all time.

I would say 2006 which brought us a wonderful B-wing, Star Destroyer and Sail Barge but, with the fantastic new TIE this year, new X-wing, Y-Wing, Jabba's Palace AND a new B-wing (which I am assuming will be great if it's anything like the new TIE) I will say 2012 does it for me!

2008 does it for me... That is the year the republic gunship was released, and although I started collecting (with that as my first item) at about 2010, its the year that has my current most favs in it... the RGS, AT-TE, V19 torrent, republic fighter tank... I just think they were really good designs/builds

Ehh...after much consideration I'd have to go with the year 2006 because of its great V, X, and A-Wing which I got all of as well as the spacious and excellent Star Destroyer and the first good Slave I. The best part about it was how back then they all also had decent prices on the sets...before this new inflationary craze. Although the two UCS sets from that year did not seem to sell too well, they went on sale, and then sold well. I do regret not getting that TIE Advanced... Another set I missed that I have regretted is the tie interceptor that I soon jealously saw at a friends house. Of course no crazy clone wars madness was also nice and the small number of sets made sure the ones that remained were good. I have to say though among all of those sets I have become most enthused with the tiny little v-wing which was so cheap, but with a few modifications, was so great! At this point however, mine has little left of the original.

2010!!! Bought Vader's Tie Fighter first and have spent a fortune since. Loved the Slave I and the Tantive, and since I missed the UCS MF, the shuttle is my favorite set. Had not built any Lego since I was a Lego manic as a kid and had always wanted to buy some Star Wars stuff. (My EX wouldn't let me) But, I sure had a lot lego fun in 2010!!!

It's so hard to choose a year solely for the sets; each year has something great that the other years don't (though part of me is tempted to go with 2007 just for the UCS Millennium Falcon, a set I desperately wish I'd been able to get).

I think I may go with 2002, simply because that's the year I finally succumbed and started getting LEGO sets again for the first time in eons, and did so thanks to Star Wars; it's also a year for which, remarkably, I've managed to get most of the sets (even though I didn't get all of them that year).
