Badsneaker Posted February 4, 2012 (edited) When I 1st saw pics of the TH Jamie did back in 2007, I have always wanted to build one. I started this back in December before we heard the latest modular was going to be a large Town Hall. I was a little worried LEGO would do this and was sort of relieved to see it ended up being totally different. As I posted earlier I did buy the instructions off the internet but after looking through them realized they were not designed the way Jamie actually built his so I scrapped them and mainly used pics from Brickshelf for reference. I'm not real good with interiors and decided this would be a County Courthouse. In hindsight it probably would have been better built on (4) 32x32 green plates with some greenery on either side of the building and full windows on the sides. I grabbed the 1891 logo from the new Town Hall. There are lots of obvious differences. I did the columns in white and I designed my own windows due to cost of the garage pieces used on the original. I also used the US flag design from the Fire Brigade, only slightly larger. Overall I would have to say this is the hardest, most complex building I have made. The columns were pretty difficult to figure with lots of jumper plates at the bottom and where they connect to the roof at the top. Well here are some pics. I'm hoping to post some more pics with other buildings for height comparison. For now I only have this one: Hope everyone enjoys, comments and criticism always welcome! I don't have an actual pic of that part of the build but they are done as shown on the LEGO website under Building Tips I think. Jamie shows how its done there. The only difference is the rear of the colums you have to use either 1x1 round bricks or 1x1 bricks in order to support the 8 wide arches which are positioned 2 columns up. This is much bigger... Hmmm maybe its more. I didn't really keep a piece count as I was building it. I've been trying to build it myself, and find the columns to be somewhat frustrating - it's an unusual technique that's been used, and the placement is whacky, to say the least. But I bet it's a satisfying build, once it's done! The columns were definitely the hardest part of the build. Lots of trial and error once I got to the top where the roof meets the pillars. Because of the 3 wide base at the bottom of the columns, nothing lined up at the top so many jumper plates had to be used. Probably the most satisfying build I've done. The interior is basically a typical courthouse with judges bench, stenographers desk, and some seats for the spectators. There is a small bathroom at the back end of the hallway. It fits and look realy good, plus it works out cheaper and easier than using the garage doors. I still think this is better than the new Modular Town Hall. Well done. I agree I like this version better than the official one. I think I may get the new one when it comes out, build it and place it side by side and maybe we can have a poll on it.
