('r 'n Frith Bwci)

The Grey Ghost was a private project plane developed in the late 30s as a forerunner of the fighter planes that fought war in the air. The Ap Deryn family were all great aviators from the early days of flight and sought to create an aircraft capable of superior aerobatics and fuel efficiency for a longer air time. It was a great success and was used throughout the Second World War to defend the Socialist Republic of Wales from the Luftwaffe.

I built this plane for a bit of fun, it ended up being more air force than adventure (my aim when starting the build). However not wishing to alter something I was quite happy with, I have carefully crafted the history to be slightly alternate to the norm, using the fine writings and universe laid out by Jasper Fforde in his Thursday Next series. This neatly sidestepped the issue of accuracy and reality that are so bothersome when making a MOC.

Fantastic 'Peppermint_M', only an enclosed cockpit and slight increase in length passed the wings to the tail section would throw this into the AWESOME bracket !

Your pilot there reminds me of a character.....perhaps photo-12.jpg.....well I'm close eh ?

Brick On 'Peppermint_M' !

Curses, some sigfig influnces have been discovered! That film has been a favourite since I saw it and I highly anticpated prior to release.

I just have to add this, when editing my pictures I realised this looked pretty epic.

Yes, Miss P....your secret has been uncovered !

Hey, here's an idea for you.....build her plane from Sky Captain and customise her torso....but the hat would be a problem though ?

Now there's a challenge for you 'Peppermint_M' !

Fly On !

Great stuff Pep!

I like the stubbiness of the plane it suits the stubbiness of Minifigs and LEGO in general.

Go Queen of the Mechanics! That's an expert build, Pep. Thanks for sharing. What I appreciate most, right off the bat, is that it's obvious this doesn't follow the many LEGO issued plane sets out there. This is a unique design that captures an authentic World War II fighter. And I always appreciate a MOCer that brings us a snippit of history along with their model. I particularly like the design element behind the propeller. I don't recognize it. Is it a custom?

Thanks guys. I have been building planes for over a decade and every time they are better. I have a few more waiting to be posted soon...

Hinck, the sticker was from the Exo Force set 8103 Sky Guardian. I had kept it aside for a plane it would suit. The target stickers are from a sheet of stickers related to planes that I picked up for it's potential usefullness.

You know, I go through a load of those technic discs, they are a lovely counterpoint behind the prop.

This is a lovely little warplane, and I agree the stubbiness suits the Lego figures well. Top job.

Hello!

Another one of your nice planes! :classic:

What I like in particular here are the rounded wing ends. This was typical shape for propeller fighters, and gives your grey ghost an authentic look! :classic:

Cheers,

~ Chris

Thank you :classic:. They were a last minute alteration, I am glad they turned out ok. Right until I was building the tail the 4x2 wedges tipped the wings.

Go Socialist Republic of Wales! And croquet!

Sky-Fi on, Pep, this is a lovely little prop fighter, and I do like what you've done with the technic disc

I'd buy this if it was a real set. It's a great plain without any extra crap, it's got just what you need.

I like it! An effective design, the wings are a bit short, but that makes this plane look cute!

That pilot however, looks pretty dangerous instead!

The coloured round tiles on the wings are a nice touch.
