Peppermint_M Posted July 13, 2011 (edited) ('r 'n Frith Bwci) The Grey Ghost was a private project plane developed in the late 30s as a forerunner of the fighter planes that fought war in the air. The Ap Deryn family were all great aviators from the early days of flight and sought to create an aircraft capable of superior aerobatics and fuel efficiency for a longer air time. It was a great success and was used throughout the Second World War to defend the Socialist Republic of Wales from the Luftwaffe. I built this plane for a bit of fun, it ended up being more air force than adventure (my aim when starting the build). However not wishing to alter something I was quite happy with, I have carefully crafted the history to be slightly alternate to the norm, using the fine writings and universe laid out by Jasper Fforde in his Thursday Next series. This neatly sidestepped the issue of accuracy and reality that are so bothersome when making a MOC. More on Brickshelf once moderated My sigfig is pilot for now. That film has been a favourite since I saw it and I highly anticpated prior to release. I just have to add this, when editing my pictures I realised this looked pretty epic. What I appreciate most, right off the bat, is that it's obvious this doesn't follow the many LEGO issued plane sets out there. This is a unique design that captures an authentic World War II fighter. And I always appreciate a MOCer that brings us a snippit of history along with their model. I particularly like the design element behind the propeller. I don't recognize it. Is it a custom? Peppermint_M Posted July 14, 2011 Thanks guys. I have been building planes for over a decade and every time they are better. I have a few more waiting to be posted soon... Hinck, the sticker was from the Exo Force set 8103 Sky Guardian. I had kept it aside for a plane it would suit. The target stickers are from a sheet of stickers related to planes that I picked up for it's potential usefullness.
