Conclusion

I think this set is brilliant for a small set, has a sturdy design, and some nice pieces.

Its missing magnets, wich makes it a little bit less clever and playable than most M-Tron sets but I guess you can still use it for lots of things.

The figure is nice, and since you get exactly the same one in every set you can build a huge army!

Design: 8/10 Nice little design, nothing special, but it looks good and is quite sturdy.

Parts: 8/10 Its got a nice printed front piece wich is good for lots of things, and neon-green parts are always useful...

Minifig: 9/10 I just love the M-Tron fig!

Playability: 7/10 Its missing the Magnets... :hmpf_bad:

I found this to be quite ironic as I just discovered my M-Tron collection in my parents attic last night. Since the instructions are long gone this will be very helpful. Thanks for the review!!

I got some Lego off my neighbor recently and I was quite surprisedto see the whole M-Tron line in there! I've built the two larger ships, and now I just need to build some of the smaller ones you've reviewed. I like what you did with the reviews, since these are small sets I think you did a great job!

Nice review..I really like the old space sets.. M Tron , Blacktron 1 , classic space , futuron , space police..

I don't know what it is but i still think those old space series are much cooler than any space series lego has

released in the past 10 years.

Can't help but feel the first one is quite <insert that tiresome argument> or is it just me !

I'm not a huge space fan these days, but as a kid these fascinated me. I think I had most of the M-Tron sets, plenty of the Blacktron ones. Space Police of a similar era were great as well as my favourite, Ice Planet 2002! Great review, thanks for bringing back some of those feelings of playing with these sets as a kid...

Very nice review.

In that time I was more of City, castle and Pirates, but these are very nice models.

The M:tron guys did some scientific things, so Blacktron baddies can rob them and they were hunted by Space police. That was the plot of the story I thought.

Nice review. The last one is my favorite, but the space ship looks nice also. Nice background you used for the first 2 sets, looks like a nice spot to mine. M:Tron is awesome.

Nice review. :classic:

I never had a lot of M-Tron, just the first two sets in your review, but I always liked the look of them.

Alas, I don't even have those two sets anymore, since I sold them off during my 'dark age'.

Thanks for sharing this wonderful composite review Alopex! Reading through this brings back childhood memories as I happen to own most of these and I really like this classic space theme a lot, particularly the unique and interesting combination of trans-lime and red colors. The Beacon Tracer / Inspection Buggy is my most favorite among all the M:Tron vehicles.

Thanks for the great review. IMHO I think this was the time period TLG had the best set designs in terms of playability because it took imagination to get the most out of these sets. They really do bring nostalgia! :cry_happy:

Reviewing old Space sets it's a job that has to be the practice here. We children of the Eighties will appreciate it very much  .

Great reviews :sweet: .

I really enjoyed seeing your reviews. I have multiples of most of the sets, including 6896, my favorite along with 6982 Particle Ioniser. I always thought of M-Tron as engineers and designers who built the gear for Blacktron & Space Police. I once built all the Blacktron vehicles in M-tron colors as well as designing them some more aggressive space craft. Great fun.

Thanks for the comments, and thanks Siegfried for the frontpage!

I also own all the other M-Tron sets, I might review them if I have some time. They're so M-Azing!

Edit: Could a Mod please add a poll? I want to know wich set people like the most. Thank you. :classic:

The Mega Core Magnetizer is my favorite set of all time, lovely to see some M-Tron reviews here! I agree the vehicle is the best of these four.

Thanks for the nice reviews!

By pure coincidence I've been rebuilding all my old M-Tron this past weekend. The last model you reviewed turns out to be the only one I never had. Time to hit bricklink I think; looks like a truely wonderful model. All those magnets! :sweet: It will trigger M-envy with the other smaller models.

You said you have the other models, please do reviews for them too. I felt 14 again, and truly happy, when building them again and they really deserve a review. (Just have to hunt down 3 pieces that appear to have been filed incorrectly, for the rest my coffee table is full of big red vehicles).

Hello!

M:Tron was and still is one of my most favourite space themes. I grew up with those, and I loved the new trans neon colour. I especially liked the 6833 Beacon Tracer for its windscreen which is the only one printed with the logo. :classic:

Cheers,

~ Christopher

Growing up, this line was my favorite due to the neon green pieces. I got some of the smaller ones for my birthdays and whatnot and it drove me to collect all of them. I still remember saving up for the Mega Core Magnetizer when I was 13 or so and buying it at the only store in town to carry it. It was $60, that's a lot for a kid.

When I got back into LEGO, this line was the first thing I rebuilt, they're now all on display in my house. The inevitably missing pieces also led me to BrickLink, a resource non of us should be without.

Thanks for the reviews, these sets still make me smile.

M:Tron is arguably one of the best space themes ever. The color scheme was outstanding, and the designs were very good. I have always loved this line, although I only own one M:Tron set. Thanks for the reviews! Love all of them, even the small vehicles.
