StoutFiles Posted November 29, 2010 The director of The Empire Strikes Back, arguably the greatest Star Wars movie, has passed away today. Kershner took the series to a new high with a perfect mixture of emotion and art that hasn't been seen in any Star Wars film since. I look back and wonder how great the PT could have been had Kershner not turned down the offer to direct The Phantom Menace. Thank you for one of the greatest films of all time! You will be missed! IMO ESB is easily the best SW film, I haven't watched the rest half as much as I should because when I feel like watching Star Wars, I watch Empire. And that ending, gets me every-time. Sad news.
