This is first of the mini Star Wars models that I got so it’s a good place to start my series of Star Wars mini reviews. It is also one of my favorite Star Wars Vehicles (along with most Republic vehicles). So I was quite happy when it came with my Brickmaster in November of 2008.

Here's the BrickShelf gallery.

Info

Name: Clone Turbo Tank

Theme: Star Wars

Year: 2008

Pieces: 64

Minifigs: N/A

The Review

Bag

img_1228.jpg

Here's a picture of the bag. Nothing special really. Just some fun art for the younger kids receiving this.

img_1230.jpg

The back of the bag has your normal safety warning on it.

Parts

img_1241.jpg

Out of the bag tumble the instructions and 64 parts with three extras. (which you will see later)

img_1237.jpg

Here we have the assortment of parts for the model. Not a bad selection.

Instructions

img_1238.jpg

Front of the map. Nothing special, just the same art as the baggy.

img_1239.jpg

Random Instruction Page.

img_1240.jpg

Back of the instructions. Again nothing special just some ads for the some other sets.

The Build

img_1235.jpg

By step Five you've built the main base for the model as well as the first layer of the tank.

img_1234.jpg

By step ten you've got more of it coming together.

img_1232.jpg

By step fifteen you almost have the entire tank built. And by step Seventeen you've completed the model!

Extras

img_1231.jpg

Extras. It's always nice to get more of those "t" parts.

The Completed Model

img_1225.jpg

Front view. Looks like the real thing; I would have liked some lights or something but Lego did okay with this.

img_1226.jpg

Side. This looks a lot better when you switch out the dark Red for some dark Green.

img_1227_1-2.jpg

Back. I would have liked to see a new part maybe a new one of these on the back but it might be that might be pushing it.

img_1224.jpg

3/4 view. This gives you a general overview of the model.

Special Techniques

img_1227.jpg

Some SNOT was used in the construction. You can see it in this picture.

Final Thoughts

Playability: 9/10 I could spend hours playing with this if I wanted to, but I’m not much of a role player.

Design: 8/10 Quite simple, but it does convey the overall shape of the original.

Price: 10/10 I would hope this would have cost around $5.99 if it were for sale. If that is true then you get a great price-per-piece ratio in this set.

Overall: 27/30 Overall a good score for a small set. I could see a 5 or 6 year old enjoying this set quite a bit.

"How are we all supposed to fit in this?"

Nice Review MB!

I like this mini, one of TLG's better ones.

The parts and design of the set are good, but I agree with you, that wedge plate would have made the back look alot smoother.

Thanks for the review! :sweet:

Great review!

Good pictures, especially the last one ;)

I like this mini, the overall shape and the details are great. It looks more like a tank than the new big one...

Great review, Masked Builder. The CTT is one of my favorite Star Wars MINI sets. The details that TLC captured in this scale are impressive.

I love that closing photo. Priceless.
