[KEY TOPIC] Official LEGO Sets made in LDD

4674 posts in this topic

Well, I checked the colors. The transparent blue color in 7212, at least according to Bricklink, is Trans-Medium Blue. In LEGO terms, that should be 143 Transparent Fluorescent Blue, the fourth and last option in the Transparent Blue category. That should be easy to correct

You also have your gray color wrong on some of the sets. 343 and 7212 should both use 2 Grey (Light Gray), not 194 Medium Stone Grey (Light Bluish Gray). The switch to Stone Grey/Bluish Gray really started with 2004 sets (some 2003 sets from later production runs also used the newer greys, I think).

Also, I'd recommend never trusting instruction booklet pictures for colors. A lot of LEGO instructions on the official website are cruddy scans which distort a lot of the colors. For instance, 28 Dark Green (Green) often looks much brighter than it should, whereas 192 Reddish Brown and 308 Dark Brown are often darker than they should be (sometimes making it difficult even to see or identify the parts).

You did better with Robo Champ, but there's a few minor errors. The 1x1 tile with the white and red gauge should be 194 Medium Stone Grey, not 199 Dark Stone Grey. The wrench/trophy piece should be 297 Warm Gold, not 106 Bright Orange (Warm Gold is a tricky color to access-- you have to switch to DesignByMe mode using View>New Themes>DesignByMe, pick up a gold piece like the minifig goblet and place it in the scene, then switch back to LEGO Universe mode and use the eyedropper tool to select the gold color).

Great work on these sets! Creator sets (and other sets that rely on basic bricks) can be fun, can't they? It makes me almost feel ashamed that I don't tend to buy Creator sets, especially looking at the Creator website and seeing how imaginative and fun the Creator designers are.

I have fixed the lxf files following your tips. Thank you very much.

It was interesting to discover that some colours like warm gold are not in the palette and can be achieved like that. I agree the booklets pictures are not so reliable; moreover the chromatic perception we get from what LDD displays on our videos is not the same as in real life and that is disappointing as you try to do something which look like real sets as more as possible. I am aware it depends on the graphic card. On two different computers I see completely different colours.

I also think that Creator sets (or Model team etc.) are the most attractive ones as in my opinion the real essence of brickbuilding is to get more or less complex objects from geometrically standard parts like the basic bricks. The number of parts and colours available nowadays is much largen than in the past but modern Creator are not so really different in concept from the ones of 20 or 30 years ago, which is a proof of their neverending creating potentiality.

Yes, these sets has been removed from the index and replaced with new versions.

To make the thing more clear, I edited old posts inserting a link.

So... everything is ok with ADOH15!

PS: what about the "Revenge Of The Sith version" of the Tantive IV?

Thank you, Calabar. :classic:

Oh, I've been removing the mods seeing as they're not official sets. I thought that now they've been seen, they wouldn't need to stay.

PS. Can anyone find my 8029 MINI Snowspeeder? I can't see it in the index and the search doesn't come up with anything. I'm sure I posted it!

Just did some sets for the Ninjago theme!

First, 30080 Ninja Glider:

30080_ninja_glider.png

LXF File

Errors:

  • The minifigure cannot attach by the back of his legs to the studs on the front of the glider. He has been left to the side of the model.
  • The red 2x2 tile (part ) cannot be centered on the two studs on the back of the glider. It has been left to the side of the model.
  • None of the minifig's decorations are available. All surfaces that should be printed have been left blank.

Next, 30082 Ninja Training:

30082_ninja_training.png

LXF File

Error:

  • None of the minifig's decorations are available. All surfaces that should be printed have been left blank.

Finally, 2260 Ice Dragon Attack:

2260_ice_dragon_attack.png

LXF File

Errors:

  • The shurikens, the skeleton's arms, and the dragon's knuckles (92692) are not available in LDD and have been omitted.
  • Because the knuckle pieces are missing, the dragon's fingers could not be placed and have been left to the side of the model.
  • The Zamor sphere/ice sphere (54821) could not be placed in the dragon's mouth as the instructions directed. It has been left to the side of the model.
  • None of the set's decorations are available. All surfaces that should be printed have been left blank.

Overall, I'm very impressed with the sets of this theme and hope some of the missing parts are added with the next update. In the meantime, I have three World Racers sets either completed or nearing completion, and will be posting those next!

I did not see it posted, so spent a fun hour or two starting 7939 Cargo Train

7939-CargoTrain.png

LXF file

Each of the sub models is also available seperately, and they are also sub-grouped in the main LXF.

Locomotive:LXF file

  • I could not find the correct train corner brackets (under the windscreen) so created some custom parts.
  • Same as the rechargable battery box (with coloured tiles instead of buttons)
  • Wrong 9V motor...

Tanker:LXF file

  • The 6x6 radar dishes will not fit properly on the circular tanker parts. Yet another problem with the dishes (same as 10016 models). I have used a pink axle (2L) to help locate it.

Freight Container:LXF file and alternate roofing .

Difference is in the container roof - to make end pieces more stable.

  • The cars (wheels) of the model wont fit into the lattice work - this was a bug in LDD 3.x as well, but is official build.

Car Wagon:LXF file

Crane:LXF file

Truck & Trailer:LXF file

Additional Errors

  • There are no new RC track points... so I have used placeholder track (red) for now.
  • There are no RC controller parts
  • I forgot the mini-figs - to do.

EDIT LDD 4 Versions

@roamingstudio

I'm not sure about what you did on your last post.

If it is a single set, you should provide a single lxf file and a single image for it.

And... is the set complete?

If that are more than one set, you didn't specify other sets' data.

About the alternative version, you have to associate it to the main version (that is... same image, and alternative lxf file for download). Other images can be provided as text link.

I'm not sure about what you did on your last post.

It was a placeholder for work in progress - and has now been updated with links to all the specific sub-models of the large set.

10185 Green Grocer, Theme: Modular Buildings -duplicate-

Here is my attempt.

greengrocerldd.png

10185_green_grocer.lxf

I saw Johnnhiszippy3 made this before with several missing parts in LDD3. I was busy with these before I saw his creation and I am really impressed by his work. I mainly made this to see how my own models would look like with possible next MOC's, but still wanted it to be as accurate as possible.

But this model is complete, as far as I can tell. I used my own instructions, but still had to check occasionally with my real built set for the colours. It took some effort to put some of the pieces in place, as you can see especially the bins have some fruit repellent characteristics.

Also the printing on the torsos is missing with some of the minifigs.

The only thing that I doubt is the choice of colour for the parts: radiator grille 1x2. I used 150 metallic light grey, but I am not convinced, nor satisfied. Anyone has a better suggestion or is their another topic for that? (I also tried 131 silver but have the same doubts about that colour)

Furthermore I used the groups function in LDD. All floors are seperate groups.
